4.0 out of 5 stars Solid card & reader
The card was abused over this last vacation. Backed up files from the PC, wrote video and took well over 1000 10mp pics to it. It's a tadon the slow side - if you want to edit I suggest copying to the hard drive and then copying back, but other than that it held up fine as any decent card should.

The reader comes with a very short extension cord for the HDMI...

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid card & reader, February 25, 2010

This review is from: Kingston MobileLite USB 2.0 Multi-card Reader with 8 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card FCR-MLG2+SD4/8GB (Personal Computers)
The card was abused over this last vacation. Backed up files from the PC, wrote video and took well over 1000 10mp pics to it. It's a tadon the slow side - if you want to edit I suggest copying to the hard drive and then copying back, but other than that it held up fine as any decent card should.

The reader comes with a very short extension cord for the HDMI input. Useful for laptops, but for Towers you'll want a longer one.

For the price at the time I bought this was a very good deal... like buying the card and getting the reader for free.

I couldn't find a tiny reader like I wanted so I got this one. I'm pleased with it, even though it has a few more moving parts than seem necessary. It's a good design, and seems like it will be reliable. Interestingly, one of the moving parts is part of the casing that covers up the entire SD card when inserted, then telescopes back into the outer housing for easy removal of the SD card. The other moving part is the other end of the ousing, and it telescopes in the same manner to reveal or cover and protect the USB plug.

I purchased this unit to allow me to download my SDHC card while on the road. It has proved to be invaluable for this task. I particularly appreciate the sliding covers for the USB and SDHC slot. I don't have to worry about damaged connectors, which has been a problem in the past. Well worth the price.

I don't have to worry about losing any caps that cover the USB port. Both ends of the reader are retackable with one covering the USB port and the other side covering the cards slots. The spot for the key ring is built into the drive, so no extended pieces that could potentially break off.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reader and 8 GB Card, February 23, 2010

This review is from: Kingston MobileLite USB 2.0 Multi-card Reader with 8 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card FCR-MLG2+SD4/8GB (Personal Computers)
It was good buy the card reader is a bit bigger than I expected so if you plug it into your USB slot on your laptop it will cover other slots nearby. There is a also a small USB cable you can use to connect the drive to a USB slot on your computer which till take up less space than the reader itself. The flash card works good but I think its formatted as a FAT32 file limiting size of files you can place on it. You should format to NTFS if you want to place large files on the drive.

Kingston is synonymous with quality at an affordable price, a leader in RAM, however in the line of USB card readers, the manufacture is poor (Mobile Lite). It is the second model of Kingston's Mobile Lite buy, first broke by itself, and stopped working after 3 months of use, and now this last record had a problem, the usb metal connector went out of the plate, so I had to weld the metal plate connectors, all this happened at 2 months of buying, I honestly do not recommend this type of readers Mobile Lite due to poor manufacturing quality, the only advantage they have compared to others is that you can read 2 cards at once.

5.0 out of 5 stars SD Memory Card Reader, January 14, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Kingston MobileLite USB 2.0 Multi-card Reader with 8 GB Class 4 SDHC Flash Memory Card FCR-MLG2+SD4/8GB (Personal Computers)
This is one of the smallest readers i've seen. The Kingston MobileLite reader works with class 4 SD cards as well as my regular SD cards. USB 2.0 reads lightning quick & also deletes pictures from your cards. Only drawback is if you need a longer USB cord. Comes with a 3" cord & if you connect to the back of your tower get a 6' USB extension. Reads SD micro cards also. The small size fits in your pocket if you go to a friends home & they don't have one (plug & play). Well made.

The usb reader is very helpful for connecting to the xbox. It comes with a short usb cable to hang the card reader from.
The SD card's speed was ok, but not as fast as 16x cards.
