4.0 out of 5 stars The Most Reliable Reader I've Owned
This is my third card reader and the most reliable one. The first two were the size of a deck of cards with two slots. More than half of the time, the computer couldn't see the card reader's USB. I had to fight and do weird things to make the card readers wake up. One that I gave to my kid still works and the other one (newer than the one I gave to my kid) doesn't...

2.0 out of 5 stars Works, but only after fixing it.
Would be a great product if it worked as advertised out of the box. Like other reviewers, my Mobilite was very picky about what SD(SDHC) cards would work and what didn't. I never had a problem reading MicroSD cards though. One Sandisk 2GB card would read, but another Sandisk wouldn't, tried other brands, same results. It wouldn't read my Transcend 16GB SDHC. 4.0 out of 5 stars The Most Reliable Reader I've Owned, February 19, 2008
This review is from: Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-ML (Personal Computers)
This is my third card reader and the most reliable one. The first two were the size of a deck of cards with two slots. More than half of the time, the computer couldn't see the card reader's USB. I had to fight and do weird things to make the card readers wake up. One that I gave to my kid still works and the other one (newer than the one I gave to my kid) doesn't.

I've used this USB card reader for a few months now and the PC recognizes it every time. I don't have to fiddle with it to work. And it's a lovely small size that I can slip it in my little drawer. The other card readers were too big for the drawer.

If you worry about losing the little USB reader, it comes with a keychain ring so you can attach it to something like your keys. Be warned, it's very thin and the ring is very small. Some keychain rings can be too thick for it.

Open the top or bottom white cover to reveal the card slots. One side holds the Micro SD/MMC Micro and the mini SD. The other side holds the larger cards like the SD and MMC cards. The three slots come with a slider -- push the slider to take out the card. You don't have to pull it out.

One negative is opening the top and bottom white covers doesn't come easy. It can also be hard to get the USB top off sometimes and it can only go on one way, not both. Another negative is the sliders -- they feel fragile like they'll break off easily.

Handy little product that does a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Item--Super Price, August 24, 2007

This review is from: Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-ML (Personal Computers)
I have several USB SD readers. This one is the BEST. It's very veratile, well-made, and feature packed. Kingston even thought of including a simple loop to keep the protective cap attached to the Mobilelite while it is plugged into the USB port on your PC.

2.0 out of 5 stars Works, but only after fixing it., November 26, 2008
This review is from: Kingston MobileLite 9-in-1 USB 2.0 Flash Memory Card Reader FCR-ML (Personal Computers)
I noticed that if I slowly slid a card that wasn't working, with the Mobilite plugged into the USB socket(not recommended), it would start to read when it was mostly in the socket (the green light would turn on), but would stop working once I pushed it in all the way. I got fed up with the thing, so I cracked it open from the back so I could get to the pins on the inside. I bent the outside pins on each side, that contact the metal on the circuit board, and pushed the inside pins up more. After snapping the Mobilite back together, my 16GB SDHC card reads, along with the other cards that didn't. Its up to you if you want to go to that extreme to make the product work or just skip it all together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than flaky adapters, November 25, 2007

This is a GREAT little device. It supports the high capacity (>2GB) cards, has dedicated slots for each of the 3 physical sizes with simple built-in ejectors and even a tether for the USB cap. The only improvement that I would like is lettering to identify each side of the case (I invariably open the 'wrong' half).

The MobileLite is far, far better than the usual miniSD & microSD adapters.

4.0 out of 5 stars Worked twice then failed., August 31, 2007

The design of this product is great. Unfortunately, the SD slot stopped working after just a couple of uses. I started getting an error stating the card was write protected when it was not. I checked the card in another card reader and it worked fine plus I tried 4 other SD cards in the Mobilite and none worked. In fairness, the company paid for return shipping and they sent me a new unit that has been working perfectly. When it works, this is the best card reader I've used.

5.0 out of 5 stars handy, useful adapter, January 18, 2008

There are three separate sockets, micro, mini, and SD (SDHC); the nice thing is that it reads all three simultaneously as separate drives; it's very convenient to transfer between cards. Reads SDHC cards just fine (I have 8GB). A little bulky, it comes with a stubby flex USB adapter, but ignore strap on cap (useless, not necessary). I am really pleased with this purchase, great product.

1.0 out of 5 stars Does not work with 16GB SDHC Card, July 31, 2008

I bought this reader to use with several SD and microSD cards that I have, and I am sorry to say that despite claims of SDHC compliance, this device does not work with the A-DATA 16 GB SDHC card (it says "Eee PC edition") that I have and use most often with my Canon digital camera.

The reader seems to work with 1 GB SD (and microSD) cards, so I will keep it, but for something like that, I'd rather have paid $5 (the going rate for non-SDHC-compliant readers), not the overpriced > $10.

I am thoroughly disappointed at Kingston for this flop.

This is the reader to buy. It is a little larger than most...but not by far. The real benefit is that you can use all 3 memory slots at the same time and each memory card gives your a different drive letter. Now I can combine all of my memory cards into one device instead of have multiple one.

Great concept and highly recommend.

1.0 out of 5 stars 8GB SDHC Doesn't Work, December 29, 2008

The reader does not work consistently with Transcend 8 GB SDHC Class 6 Flash Memory Card TS8GSDHC6. The LED doesn't light up unless the SDHC card is moved around while plugged in. Once the LED comes on, the card can be read.

Windows XP on 2 computers complains that the device is not using USB 2.0. Tranfers are slow.

It did work with a A-DATA 1GB SD card and a Sandisk 512MB MicroSD without issue.
