I have a brand new Macbook Pro 13" with the 2.4ghz processor. I am running the Kingston 8GB kit with a G. Skill 120GB SSD, the computer screams and could only imagine if I opted for the 15" with the i7 but the way I have it now my 13" is too fast for what I need anyways. The ram got a 4 for ease of use because I had to reset my PRAM upon installation. The computer was slow at first, booted into the diagnostic tools, memory passed all diagnostic checks so just went wil simple troubleshooting steps by resetting the PRAM/NVRAM and the SMC for good measure. Computer booted up in less than 8 seconds and runs Logic Studio, Apurture Pro (while rendering) and designing scripts all at the same time with little to no lag.
If you have a bad set of RAM don't rate it a 0 unless you run a memory diagnostic, reset PRAM, and have confirmation that it is the ram. People switch back to their original apple ram and it runs fine because yeah, snow leopard pre-caches information. If you reset that pre-cache I beet most of these guys wouldn't need a new set of ram. RESET PRAM (hold option + command + R + P and press the power button, let it go to the white screen and restart and et go of all the keys). Also go to apple.com/support not some cheesy Mac forum I troll those forums and people are idiots on most of them.

Slapped this into my new 21.5" iMac base model. Installation was a breeze and the imac recognized it upon boot up, no issues at all.

I bought this memory to install in a white MacBook, the late-2010 kind.
It was quick and easy to install using instructions from Apple's support site. Worked great the first time. Upgrading my memory this way cost me less than half as much as buying memory from Apple, even if I ordered from Apple and installed it myself. One caution about opening up a white MacBook: keep track of EXACTLY which screw came from EXACTLY which hole. The screws are different lengths, and it's way easier to just put the same screw back in the same place than to sort out exactly what length needs to go where.

I feel a bit stupid for having only just realized that it IS possible for the user to replace/upgrade the RAM in aluminum MacBooks, at least in the late 2008 model that I own. I'd maxed out the RAM in the previous two Apple laptops I owned, but somehow got the idea in my head that it couldn't be done in this model and that any RAM upgrade would need to be done at unnecessarily high expense via the Genius Bar at the local Apple Store. So like I said, I felt rather silly when I finally figured out last week that I could have done it myself the very day I bought this laptop 2 1/2 years ago. Sigh.
So. It may be two and a half years later, but I just installed my new RAM modules, and my laptop is now running like a dream. It should be obvious from all the above that I am not exactly an expert on all things technical (or it wouldn't have taken me over two years to verify whether I could do this myself or not!) so if I say it was VERY simple and fast to install the new memory, you'll know that if I can do it, anyone can do it. It took maybe ten minutes from start to finish, following the very clear and easy instructions on the Apple website. Remove battery cover, remove battery, unscrew back panel, pull out the old RAM, click the new RAM into place, screw back panel on again, put battery back in, replace battery cover - done! I'm glad I took heed of the "customers who bought this product also bought..." suggestion and ordered a size #00 Philips screwdriver along with the RAM, as it made the removal of all those tiny screws a breeze and meant that I didn't repeat the screw-stripping mistakes of my first-ever RAM-upgrading efforts a decade ago. If you're planning on replacing your own RAM and don't already own one of these teeny-tiny Philips screwdrivers, I'd highly recommend you get one! I'd also recommend the purchase of something I didn't have to hand - some canned air. There was a worrying amount of fuzz and dust on the inside of my poor laptop. I'll have to do something about that... So, in summary - this product works perfectly and is compatible with my Mac as promised. What more could I ask for?

Did you know that a simple 2GB upgrade would cost around $150-$200 directly from Apple? For the price of this Kingston memory you are getting an awesome deal.
Got the memory and installed right away, easy to install and the computer (White MacBook 2010) recognized it right away, went from 2GB to 4GB just like that. Kingston also gives you lifetime warranty and having dealt with their RAM sticks for years, they are without a doubt some of the best. Just make sure that your specs are specifically the same in order for the RAM to work as described, you can get all your specs at Apple's site. Conclusion: Amazing RAM at an Amazing price.

Works perfectly and my MacBook zips around with much more speed.
This price (plus my bundled overnight shipping) from Amazon was over $15 cheaper than buying locally and paying Houston sales tax (ignoring my time to drive to/from the store...)

I have an older 2009 Mac Mini so it's limited to only 4GB of RAM. Coming from 1GB, it makes a huge difference if you want to have multiple apps running at the same time. The time it takes to switch between them is reduced by a big margin. Especially if I'm switching from Lightroom to Photoshop while also having Firefox running in a different space.
Installation is a snap, literally. The spatula trick works, just make sure you don't shove it in till it bottoms out. You'll end up scraping the foam padding off. It's not uncommon to receive RAM that's DOA from any mfg.. This is Value RAM after all. It's a PITA but it happens even with performance RAM. I haven't bought Kingston RAM in ages but it worked out fine. There are very few choices with SODIMM. Kingston was one of the few companies that have been pro Mac since the early years.

The package comes with 2 nice Kingstong memories.
Just plugged them to my iMac and they worked right way, no problems at all. This is not the first time that I buy Kingston memory for mac, they work very well for Apple family. |
