Really recomend it!!!

Unfortunately, Lenovo did not enable 1866MHz support in BIOS, so this kit ran at 1600MHz instead.

Plug and play, as easy as it comes, just plug it in, and enjoy the increased performance.

I bought this RAM for my brand new early 2011 macbook pro, with a 2.3 ghz core i7 processor. I installed the ram and my mac was off the wall fast! But i noticed the laptop getting very hot and after about 10 minutes the computer crashed, yah, a mac, crashing. I turned it back on and read the error report, a simple kernel crash, which can happen after new hardware is installed, so I just carried on. It happened about 20 minutes later, and then kept happening continuously. After about 5 minutes my laptop would be extremely hot and then would crash shortly after. I ran memtest and got a ton of errors, and thinking it was a bad memory set that I had received I called Kingston. It turns out that the macbooks only support up to 1333 mhz RAM, and 1866 overclocks by itself, runs the fans at too high of a speed and then crashes the kernel. I returned the RAM to Amazon for a full refund (and amazon is awesome about returning products!) and ordered two 1333 mhz 4gb sticks. Moral of the story: check to make sure the product is compatible, if it is, buy this RAM, its amazing!

Kingston says this is designed for I-5 and I-7 Sandy Bridge processors. They state on their website, in press releases, pretty much everywhere that the Genesis HyperX:
"...increases the performance of second-generation Intel Core i5 and i7 notebooks and desktops".
"...making Intel Core-i7 processors run faster with a longer lifecycle".

Because it lowered the WEI Memory Score on my high end I-7 Dell XPS (L502X) laptop, I dug deeper, some 5 hours of work later. In one of their technical PDF's you will find this:
"...increases the performance of second generation Intel Core i7/i5* notebooks".
Notice the asterik, explanation on another page, in tiny tiny print at the very bottom. It states:
"Only Z68 and P67 chipsets are supported. H67 and Q67 chipsets are not supported."

I then found this gem:
"Your system must use a second-generation Core i5 or Core i7 processor, a Sandy Bridge P67 or Z68 chipset and have a BIOS that supports the current JEDEC compliant specs." Folks, this are some pretty stringent requirements. This is far cry from "i5 and i7 notebooks and desktops".

The two compatible chipsets are for desktops. Intel Mobile chipsets contain an "M", like QM67 or HM67. So this opens more questions on compatibility, even more confusing. Intel uses I7 and I5 nomenclature to describe their CPU's, like the I7-2620M on my laptop. Do you have a Z68 or P67 chipset....do you have the right BIOS system....good luck on that. The BIOS compliant thing means you must have the ability to change BIOS memory settings....really! Mine is locked, no way to change that setting.

Do you think it's by accident they post compatibility in an obscure place, using internal manufacturer codes instead of CPU model names?

Was worried about reliability at first, and ran memtest overnight. Found out there were no issues.

The RAM acts perfectly as advertised, CAS 11 at 931MHz DDR rate = 1866MHz ).

Plug and play, as easy as it comes, just plug it in, and enjoy the increased performance.

Running winsat memformal in command prompt showed an increase from 17000MB/s to 24000MB/s (from DDR3-1333 16GB)

and WEI jumped from 7.6 to 7.9.

Awesome product, thanks for a great product, Kingston!

First I bought the Corsair Vengeance 8gb 1866 C10 kit for my Mac book Pro and popped it in. When I turn it on it would go to the white screen and stay there. Would not boot the the OS. I put one at a time and still the same. I returned that kit and got this 8gb 1866mhz C11 kit from amazon. Now I don't think the Corsair was bad or maybe it was but it might be that the Mac Book did not take such a latency at that speed. Anyways the Kingston worked at the 1866 speed with no problem. The Mac Book never over heats. I ran various memory tests and use the laptop all the time with no problem. So if you have a 2012 Mac Book Pro and want to upgrade memory, don't bother with Corsair and just get Kingston. Also another upgrade is the OCZ Vertex 4 256gb. Now my Mac Book Pro fly's.

RAM seems decent enough and reliable as long as I do not overclock the PC. I've tried OC'ing with a Core i7-2600k ('k' designation allows for this) and the OC feature via my Asus P8P67-MPro MOBO - nothing extreme, just a minor bump - and literally within 5 minutes the PC will crash / lock-up. Since the CPU and MOBO are quality components, I'm putting it down to maybe this particular memory not coping well with different frequencies etc.

IMPORTANT: If your laptop cannot take advantage of 1866MHz memory, there is no point in buying this kit. In fact, using this memory with systems that do not support 1866MHz memory may DECREASE performance compared to fast 1600MHz memory!

I originally bought this memory for a Lenovo Thinkpad Edge E535 with an AMD A8-4500M APU since AMD states that the APUs can support 1866MHz memory (and you get a healthy performance boost in games). Unfortunately, Lenovo did not enable 1866MHz support in BIOS, so this kit ran at 1600MHz instead. I then tried this memory in my Dell XPS15 (L502x) with an i7-2720qm and it also only ran at 1600MHz, but that's the maximum supported frequency per Intel's website so I wasn't terribly surprised.

I did discover something interesting, however, when I compared the performance of this 1866MHz kit and the Kingston HyperX 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 Notebook PnP Memory KHX1600C9S3P1K2/8G kit I installed in my Dell XPS15. While the 1866MHz kit is indeed faster in terms of speed than the 1600MHz kit, the 1866MHz kit is significantly worse when it comes to latency. The 1600MHz kit is rated at 9-9-9 with a 1T command rate while the 1866MHz kit is rated at 11-11-11 with a 2T command rate.

Memory performance is basically a function of frequency and latency, with higher frequency and lower latency being better. In the case of this 1866MHz kit, it maintained the 11-11-11 2T settings even at 1600MHz on both my Lenovo E535 and Dell XPS15, which actually DECREASED performance compared to the 1600MHz kit. For the XPS15, the Windows Experience Index memory score dropped from 7.9 to 7.8.
