5.0 out of 5 stars Great drive in a MacBook Pro, May 14, 2009
This review is from: Kingston SSDNow M Series 160 GB 2.5-Inch Solid State Drive Bundle SNM125-S2B/160GB (Personal Computers)
Drive is a rebadged Intel drive and even accepts the Intel firmware update while installed within a unibody MacBook Pro.

As expected, the SSD launches multiple apps with astonishing speed even wehn compared to a 7200 RPM Seagate drive. Now acts as my main drive for the laptop. An unanticipated plus is just how quiet you MBPro becomes with an SSD instead of a spinning platter. Literally, the sound of a finger brushed along the laptop casing is loud compared to near total silence of the machine. Haven't enjoyed a dead quiet a machine since the days of the Mac Plus (fanless)

Write speed feels as fast or faster than my old Seagate drive and I'm constantly finding myself pleased with how much snappier the machine feels. No stuttering noted, but that wouldn't be expected on an Intel SSD.

Bundle case comes with USB external case that requires no tools to install your old drive. Also has rails for 3.5 inch mounting, SATA and USB cables. All are nice pluses for the drive. Check prices, often the bundle is the same price or lower than just the drive.

Overall very pleased with the Kingston 160 GB drive. It's still small compared to a 500 GB hard drive, but the speed gain and silence was worth it.
