second generation, February 17, 2010
pro: second genration v+ series , faster read/write and TRIM support with APM ( will show temperature now on monitoring tools )
con: did not get advertised speed, was only able to get 205 read and 170 write.
upgraded from the first generation v series(40gb) without TRIM support.
wanted to upgrade to this because i'm running windows 7 now.
currently only windows 7 and windows 2008 r2 supports trim.

Kingston SSD V+512GB, October 20, 2010
This drive represents the most profound and best computer upgrade I have made since my first computer purchase in 1987! It is by far the most satisfying experience of anything I have ever encountered in any computer - except for maybe larger LCD monitors. The boot-up time is just awesome and ditto for application launch times. What can I say? I now know that moving hard drives will one day be a thing of the past - hands down! I can't wait for a 2 TB SSD at a price point below $300. I'm sure it will come one day. After this experience, I know that spinning hard drives will go the way of the floppy discs from years ago. I expect to use this NAND based drive for the next 50+ years before the memory cells deteriorate - longer than any hard drive would ever last. I replaced the Toshiba drive that came with my new 2010 15" MacBook Pro i7 with this SSD.

Good Device, Other Options Can Bet Better, August 3, 2010
As a consumer SSD for end-user workstation the V and V+ series SSD's from Kingston are great replacements for boot drives in both laptops and desktops. We have bought several and been happy with all of them.
I withheld one star on the review, solely because of the write speed when compared to other devices within 10% of the cost. Not a knock on Kingston, just a comment on comparative performance. Read speed is totally in line with similar models from other manufacturers.
The V+ SSD matched the performance specs quoted in my tests, although there were some interesting variances in the drive performance graph.
I use different PC's with at least one of these devices everyday for about the last 6 months and I have had no issues with performance or reliability.
