To easily store, transfer and read digital files with one convenient device, Kingston offers the DataTraveler Reader--a standard USB Flash drive with up to 2 GB of storage that features a built-in expansion slot to read SD, SDHC, MMC, and MMCplus cards. When used with an adapter (not supplied), the DataTraveler Reader can also be used to read miniSD, microSD, RS-MMC, MMCmobile, and MMCmicro cards. Lightweight and highly portable, the DataTraveler Reader helps minimize the amount of additional equipment and bulky cords needed to transport and access digital information.

As easy as plug in, click, and drag, the DataTraveler Reader can quickly and simply transfer data between PC or Mac computers and other digital devices. The versatile DataTraveler Reader can hold just about any type of digital file, such as photos, spreadsheets, and important documents. No external power source is necessary: The device simply plugs into a computer's USB port to operate. To access information from a card--such as an SD or MMC card from a digital camera--just insert the card into the DataTraveler Reader's onboard expansion slot and plug the device into a computer. Photos can then be viewed, transferred to the computer, or moved onto the DataTraveler Reader and saved. (Note: When the DataTraveler Reader with an SD or MMC card is inserted into a computer's USB port, two drive letters (G: and H:) will appear, allowing access to the DataTraveler Reader's internal memory as well as the information contained on the card.)

This is such a convenient device and smart idea! It's absolutely great to have a portable flash drive and an SD card reader in one. My first concern was if I could see both drives at the same time when connected to my computer. Yes! Both the 2GB flash drive and the SD card can be read as separate drives simultaneously. Not only that, you can copy/move files between the two also!!
The only con is the flimsy string/keyring although it's similar to most other flash drive only keyrings. The keyring should have been attached directly to the unit for a more secure attachment because the flimsy string could easily break or tear.

Great device. Copies data quickly form SD Card to and from PC. Performs well. Would have given it 5 stars, but the plastic case is poorly made.

This is the second card reader I've owned from Kingston. I lost the first one that was only a card reader and had no built in memory. This thing is great! I have a Garmin Nuvi GPS which plays MP3s from a SD expansion slot, and both our cameras use SD cards for memory expansion so this is great for transferring images/music to and from the SD cards. Plus the 2GB built in is very handy. I'm a network admin and made this card boot to pendrivelinux so I can boot up and work on a machine that may have problems with Windows. Enough space for linux and all the apps I need.

Only downside is the flip cover. It is a little fragile and took me a couple times opening it to do so in a way that I didn't feel like I was going to break it off. But as long as you're careful with it I don't see it being a problem.
