Collector's Choice makes a hit.,

The combination of one great and one good album by the Trio is well worth the money and more. "At Large" is a great combination of authentic folk and new material. M.T.A. is one of the Trio's few original "protest" songs; "The Seine" if not authentic should be, with its haunting sound. And they do "Scarlet Ribbons" as well as Belafonte (and before he did it). "Here We Go Again" is not as good overall, but still good. Their version of "Shenandoah" ("Across The Wide Missouri") is far better than average. The authentic "San Miguel" is superb. Add to the two albums the added track of "Tiajuana Jail" and the combo is well worth the money.

Best Kingston Trio Collection...EVER!,
By
This review is from: The Kingston Trio at Large/Here We Go Again! (Audio CD)
I grew up listening to these two albums (thanks to my parents) and probably memorized every song on both. With all due respect to the rotating members of the Trio, over the years, I don't think anything can compare to the original Shane/Guard/Reynolds group. If your going to buy any Trio disks...get these. Period.
KT Fans: I've been in contact recently with Bob Shane who feels that the current members of the Trio come closest to the sound of the original Shane/Guard/Reynolds lineup. May be worth catching them live. Drop Bob a line...he's super nice!

My dad always used to sing these songs to me, and I thought he made them up, but I found this album, and was amazed that all the songs I knew from my childhood were on this disk. It's heavy on sea shanties like Blow Ye Winds and Haul Away. They're very catchy tunes, and more refined than some of the more folksy ones like 'Round About the Mountain and Goober Peas (which I think is the song Michelle Pheiffer sings in the movie with the Bridges brothers). If you like harmonized, vocal songs with really memorable tunes and good lyrics, you'll like them. Some of the songs are covers, but they have a nice way of arranging them.

Folk Music,

During the late 50 and early 60's folk music was popular and there were a number of groups and musicians performing in this style. Of those groups I found I listened mostly to the Kingston Trio. While it's been more than 50 years since I bought the LP record versions of these two albums, this CD has let me enjoy them all over again.

I was a young child when "Here We Go Again!" came out. My dad bought the album and I listened to it growing up. I recently bought these two albums reissued on one CD, and I love it. You will find several excellent songs, such as "San Miguel," that are not usually included on "Best of" recordings of The Kingston Trio.
Buy it. You won't be disappointed.

I waited a long time to be able to get the original Kingston Trio songs I loved in the 60s. For a long time they were not available. This album is true to the original recordings and it is a great value with two albums on the same CD.

I've always enjoyed the Kingston Trio. This cd has all the songs I like, plus some I wasn't familiar with. The only disappointment is that it didn't include "Tom Dooley".

I received the CD of two old Kingston Trio albums -- music I first listened to many years ago on LP. The wonders of technology -- I hear them with greater fidelity now than I did then.

These CD recordings of the Kingston Trio are exactly the same as the vinyl LP's I listened to when they were first released in the `50's. Only better. No surface scratch, turntable rumble, or hiss.
They recall some of the best memories I have of those days when I was a teenager and the trio was not much older. They were a unique group, and the best thing is they still are... they still live in their music. All we need is their recordings and our memories. Their music spans the years and is just as good listening today as it was then. I truly feel sorry for people who can't appreciate and enjoy their music.
