5.0 out of 5 stars Best value for MacBook/MBP RAM (10/08 and earlier); Cheap, easy, and Kingston quality and warranty!
This went in my Early 08 MacBook 13" (white) easily. Interestinly, these Kingston modules are a bit of an upgrade of quality as well as quantity. WHen I removed the Apple installed 1GB modules, they turned out to be essentially generic RAM, a brand I've not heard of in 17 years of Mac-ing it (and 5 PowerBooks, a G4 Cube, an original iMac, a PowerMac 8500, a Quadra 950,...

3.0 out of 5 stars Check your OS
The product itself is fine. It was very easy to install.
However it did not meet my personal need. I was informed that because my computer was operating on 32-bit it would only recognize max of 3GB of RAM. To use the full 4GB, I would need to have the 64-bit vista. I don't blame the manufacturer of this product for that, I blame myself for not finding out prior to...

This went in my Early 08 MacBook 13" (white) easily. Interestinly, these Kingston modules are a bit of an upgrade of quality as well as quantity. WHen I removed the Apple installed 1GB modules, they turned out to be essentially generic RAM, a brand I've not heard of in 17 years of Mac-ing it (and 5 PowerBooks, a G4 Cube, an original iMac, a PowerMac 8500, a Quadra 950, and a IIci, all I still have and all still [mostly] work). So I am very happy to have 4GB of Kingston RAM in my little friend. Install was a breeze, and operation and compatibility is full after over a month and all apps and tasks run and done. I paid [...] bucks plus tax (shipped free) and can hardly believe the good deal I got. With a lifetime waranty from Kingston, why would you pay 55 or 70 for the someone else's 4 gigs? Just great! Should work great in any MB, MBP, or iMac specced to use PC2-5300 DDR2 SODIMMs (NOT for the new UniBody Aluminum MacBook, that uses PC2-8400!).

UPDATE 3/10: still running strong for over a year, not the slightest problem or issue to date. Still strongly recommend, though I see the price has more than doubled (I paid $37.93)

These memories work perfect with my HP Pavilion dv2000.
I just open the notebook, took the old ones, put these new ones and everything was ready to go.
Also, my computer description states that my notebook has 4GB of RAM.

Great RAM for a great price. You can't go wrong with Kingston. Have installed this RAM into MacBook, iMac intel, and MacBook Pro. No problems at all.

Works great in my Lenovo SL500. Popped right in, less than 5 min install and my laptop was enjoying its new 4 Gb extension from 1Gb. Very happy with my purchase.

Edit as of Feb 14, 2009.
I bought this sometime mid-December '08, and it's been working fine.
I'm editing my review, because I see people here complaining about their OS not recognizing full 4 GB of this memory.
Answer:
If your OS - Vista, Win XP, Linux, etc .. - is 32 bit you will *NOT* be using full 4 GB, but something around 3.2 GB due to OS limitations itself, ( for more info check this Wikipedia's link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit ).
In other words you need to have a 64 bit OS - Vista 64 bit, Win XP 64 bit, Linux 64 bit,..., - installed in your laptop.

I have Linux 64 bit OS ( Ubuntu ) installed and it uses full 4 GB capacity. No issues.
I can run 5 ( five ) virtual machines ( OS-s ) at a time with those 4 GB. For those that use virtual applications, they know what I'm talking about.

Not being technologically inclined, I didn't realize that my Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697 was running so slowly because it didn't have enough memory. It came with 1GB RAM, and it never occurred to me that I should increase it. Meanwhile, the laptop was taking forever to boot up, Web surfing had become frustratingly tedious, and I was out of patience. I had started to convince myself that if I dumped Windows Vista for Windows 7 all would be well, until my brother asked how much RAM I had. When I told him, he said, "Well, that's your problem. You need to upgrade -- get 4GB."

After doing some research to find out which memory would be compatible, I decided on the Kingston ValueRAM 4GB Kit (2x2GB Modules, 667MHz PC2-5300 DDR2). Less expensive than anything I found at Worst Buy and other brick-and-mortar stores, and delivery was super-fast. It took non-techie me all of five minutes to install, and I couldn't be happier with the results. No more 20-minute boot-up. No more hanging. I may yet upgrade to Windows 7, but for now Vista's running much more smoothly. It's like I have a brand-new computer!

I purchased this to use with HP dv2100 notebook. Taking out the old memory and installing this was a snap. Rebooting the notebook, it recognized 3 GB of memory (out of 4 GB) as it runs 32-bit OS. But installing this is easier and if I upgrade to a 64-bit OS in future, it will recognize all 4 GB. Good value for money.

I bought this to replace my 4200 memory modules to get a little more out of my laptop without investing too much money. Right out of the box it works great with no problems at all.

According to the description, this module is compatible with the following:
667(5300)
533(4200)
400(3200)

Got it and installed it within an hour. Just unscrewed the cover on the back of the HP Pavilion dv20000 snap out the old memory and snap back in the new ones. The only thing is even though memory is 4GB my laptop is only able to use 3.1GB of it for some reason. I would think that is a windows 7 32-bit thing.
But, all in all I am very happy with it.

This 4MG Kingston memory upgrade for my 2008 Macbook went without any major issue. The only thing to consider is the need to "firmly" push the memory into place. My first try had the Macbook "beeping" at me because the memory was not seated.
