Title: Great, sturdy mobile hot swap rack.

I do need a hot swap rack for swaping out my data, and I like to remove my data drives at the end of the day and lock them up in a safe. I've use other brands of mobile racks, I am not going out on a limb to say one is better then the other but, I will say that I like the aluminum casing around the HDD for fast cooling. I have four of these, and they work well for me with absolutely no complaints.

I am running a Linux-Mint 10 Julia, 64-bit operating system box and I am able to hot swap the data drive but not the OS drive, DAH.

I purchased two of these HDD enclosures less than two months ago. As far as initial quality, they are certainly fine...

After a month, one of them started to make a tremendously obnoxious whining sound - I soon came to realize that it was the fan on the back of the enclosure.

Less than a month later, the other enclosure started doing the same exact thing.

The fans are easy enough and cheap enough to replace, but I'd think they could do better than two months...

This is a great piece of equipment.The inner Rack act as a good and safe protector for your Hard drive especially if you want to travel or move it from 1 computer to another. The only problem that I have with it is my self build Computer will not allow me to hot swap, I must reboot for it to be seen. This is no way a negative reflection on this Rack system, it's just the way my computer is set up. I bought 2 of them, the seller is great and the price was the lowest I have ever seen. I have systems which I prefer not to name, paid more than 10 times for them. I will name them for you ,just send request by email. The problem with the more expensive ones is that they are always prosperity connections, bulky and awkward. I highly recommend this product.

This mobile SATA rack works well, but I gave it 4 stars because of the open back design of the hard drive rack. You must screw the drive into the rack for it to work properly. I was installing two racks, one IDE and one SATA. I chose this rack because Kingwin is the only one I could find that has IDE and SATA racks that match. This rack works fine, but I have used better designed racks before.
