When you open the box you will be amazed how pretty it is. Much prettier than the picture. It worked great and a wonderful thing to display at Christmas.

I LOVE this piece! I ordered it thinking it would be something my childran would remember for years to come. I thought it would become a new family tratidion to listen to the story while sitting in front of the fireplace. The only con is that there is no volume level to the voice coming from within telling the story. It is LOUD! Without being able to change the volume level, I finally decided it would annoy me more than please me to hear it playing from the other room & I returned it.

Setting the volume issue aside, it is a great piece with the animation from room to room as the story is told. I would have loved to create a new tradition with my family had the volume been adjustable.

The audio has very poor quality. It is loud and somewhat muffled, and there is no volume control so you can't try turning it down to see if it would play more clearly. Way too much money for such poor quality sound.

"...and what to my WANDERING eyes should appear..." ??? Uh, no - it's "wondering eyes." He's in a state of wonder and awe - not in a state of being attracted to a woman other than his wife. Haha - that's ridiculous and in my (admittedly picky) mind - was a big mistake and should be fixed! I really like the house - so I'd like to mail it to Kinkade and for him to re-record it! I might just do that, in fact! I don't mind the concept of wandering eyes - I'm bothered when people use the wrong words (usually a sign of being illiterate) and plus if my kids are going to hear this over and over, I'd like THEM to learn the correct ones - geez! ;)

Lastly, music would be nice - though it's not totally necessary.

After many years of planning then delaying, I've finally chosen to start a Christmas village this year. I've been on a frenzy of searching for several pieces all over the place. I saw this piece and knew it had to be my anchor piece. This is the house I wish I could have raised my children in; and as fate would have it, there are 3 bedrooms for 3 children.

My Mother, knowing how much this piece meant to me, chose to surprise me with it early so I could enjoy it for the whole season instead of giving it to me on Christmas day.

It's so stunning, so impressive, and I was so very touched - I cried for an hour and stared at it for much longer. Absolutely gorgeous, and well worth the investment. This is a piece I will hand down to my children and grand children many years from now.

Thomas Kinkade himself is the narrator, this is a piece that any village should have!
