Interesting album combining Afrobeat and some of Damon's more classic style. Mostly a chance for the Congolese to express themselves, I've had this disc in my car for months now. Love it.

Damon Albarn is a beast and so are all the other producers attached to this album. I love how good he has gotten at blending modern sounds into works like this and Bravest Man in the Universe.

Kinshasa is a contemporary, urban translation of real Congolese music.
I predict Damon Albarn will be one of those names almost every knows, like Brian Eno, Phillip Glass, Mickey Hart.. ect...

I have some world music, mostly of the putamayo, all things considered variety. Safe, consumable music.
I wish I was cool enough to realize how good Damon's non gorillaz work was the first time I head it.
Don't make the mistake of passing this and his other music over. Just let it grow on you.

It wasn't quite what I expected. I was wishing Ode to Joy would be on it as it was on 60 Minutes. Nothing about it was recognizable.
