I love Kipling bags for 2 main reasons - all the exterior and interior compartments and the durability. I have 5 now and love them all. This one is fantastic. I would not use it as a backpack as the tiny backpack phase ended almost 20 years ago now and I never liked that look in the first place, although it would be handy. I do use it with the strap as a cross body bag and without the strap for work. I am rather busty so a lot of cross body bags don't fit comfortably on me, but this one is longer so it fits perfectly. The strap is adjustable as well. I take a backpack to work as I bring my lunch and some magazines and whatnot and I like to have my hands free for the hike across the parking lot. This little purse pops right in and I can pull it out to go to lunch or breaks and have all my stuff with me. It has 2 main compartments, one with a double zipper. The double zipper compartment has an interior pocket that runs the length of the inside with a velcro strip in the middle of the largest pocket. Mounted in front of that pocket are 4 little credit card slots. I put my cell phone in one half of the velcro'ed pocket and my face powder compact/mirror in the other side, both fitting perfectly. I keep a small cosmetic bag and a few pens and prescription bottles in the main compartment, with room for a more small things. The other main compartment is large enough for my wallet, my Kindle 3, and my little Filofax (day planner). In addition, there is an outside zippered compartment on the back and a small velcro fold over pouch on the front. I keep all those items you keep in an inside zippered pocket in the zippered compartment, such as a pillbox with OTC meds, a nail clipper, small comb, another pen and a small lotion bottle. I keep a lipstick in a lipstick box with a mirror in the front fold over pouch as well as some sunblock, yet another pen (i love pens!) and some hand sanitizer. It fits a lot and having so many compartments ensures you can find something really quickly, which I love! Amazon has this purse at a great price too. Some people believe that Kiplings are overpriced, but their bags are made to last forever so it's worth spending a little extra money on one. Plus you get a great little gorilla key chain!

I bought this purse YEARS ago to take on my overseas trips, because it was small and had lots of pockets. I found that I could fit me camera (larger), sun screen, my sunglasses, pens a wallet and other stuff all in this little bag. As the other reviews said,the straps are adjustable, so you can wear it across your chest or on your shoulder. You can even wear it as a fanny pack. If you are just going a short distance, you can use the handle. It is light weight, and that is really important to me, since I have a bad back. The zippers are super sturdy and have never broken. It's small, so I can stuff it in a back pack or carry on bag, when I don't have the ability to carry two items.

So, when I got home from my last international trip, about four years ago, I hated the thought of putting my purse away. So, I thought, "Why not just use it?" I have been every day since and it is still in good shape, although the top is faded.

I put my phone in the flap pocket, my car keys and glasses in the side zipper pocket and my wallet in the pocket with one zipper. I always know where everything is. I love this purse and am finally, after about 10 years, looking for a new one. I'll take the old one on my trips still. I just can't rave enough about Kipling quality, but especially this bag.

Love this bag. Light weight. Cross body for security and ease when shopping. Can be converted backpack but haven't used it in that style yet. Great pockets and sections for storage and organization. Great bag.

This bag is just the right size, has plenty of pockets, and is versatile (carrying options), easy to keep clean - and I love the monkey!!

I bought this bag many many years ago. I took it on many tours of Europe. For the most part I wore it as a cross shoulder bag. But after a while, especially if you keep lots of stuff in your purse to weigh it down, it starts to irritate your neck and shoulders. This is when I convert it to a backpack to relieve the stress. Love, love, love this bag. There is a new version of this bag now. It no longer has the Velcro flap compartment on the front, but a front zip compartment instead. A nice change. I was always weary about what I put in the flap compartment. That was the least secure part of the bag. Looks like they fixed this problem by converting it to a zipper front.

Eventually my bag frayed an wore out and I had to throw it out. So now I am looking to get the new version of this bag.

I think that functionally, this purse is great. However, the True Blue is not as pictured. It is monotone, like the black. It does not have the contrast stitching or logo. Which is unfortunate, because I think that look is cuter. However, that said, the purse is great because of all the ways it can be carried. I also like the size, because I do not tend to carry much in my bag, so it is not too big.

My review is strictly regarding the product information on amazon.com and the sender's mistake on the color.
When I saw this bag I was very happy to find something I could use for international travels since the product dimension provided on this website said "21x5x14". I thought that's perfect size to fit all my travel stuff on top of my carry-on bag. However, when I opened the box, I was surprised to see this little hand bag.. I thought it was folded somehow.. but NO.. that's all! In fact, on the tag, the product dimension is "8.75x4.75x7.75". So be ware.. future customers. The information on the website is incorrect.

Another problem was the color. I ordered "true blue" but the only thing that was "true blue" was the gorilla attached to the bag. The actual bag is BLACK. I'm quite disappointed and I'm returning it tomorrow. :(
