3.0 out of 5 stars Product not as rain proof as I expected
I thought Kipling was a brand that produced high-quality light-weighted sturdy bags, but I was wrong. It has just been two months since I got this bag from Amazon. I have used it for daily school purpose and was definitely not carrying a library with me. Now the stitches inside the flip-over are broken, though it's just a minor issue for me. This review is from: Kipling Madhouse Expandable Messenger Bag (Apparel)
The biggest frustration is that there is no zippers to seal the bag whatsoever!! Although the materials may be water-proof, yet they can't stop rains from pouring in from the lateral and the best you can do is just to cover with the flip-over!! Now I can't risk putting my laptop or books in this bag during rainy days or I have to be extremely careful and struggle to position the bag to a direction perpendicular to the rain as I walk...

1.0 out of 5 stars Ripped the first time I used it. Ripped again the second., September 17, 2004

This bag looks great and is very functional, once you put Velcro on the inside pockets. Could use a cell phone pocket.

This bag ripped on the front corner flap and in the middle of the front flap the first two times I used it. Company will repair or possibly replace the bag if you send it to them, but who wants to bother after owning it for a week?

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Bag, January 4, 2007
By
This is just what I wanted. It has already worked briliantly as a tote in the Seattle rain, as well as being trampled on by small children. It is still great. I love it. Roomy, and there is the option of getting even bigger, if I unzip more. My boyfriend does not like that I pack it so full, because it gets heavy, but that is always going to happen with big bags. I work with kids, so it helps me carry around lots of books, as well as my lunch, and my dayplanner, and my umbrella. And even more! It's perfect for me.

I recomend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this bag, April 21, 2011

This is actually the second of these bags that I've gotten. The first was in perfect condition but unfortunately it was stolen. I replaced it because I use it almost everyday. I only wish that at least one of the two main compartments could be zipped closed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rugged and perfect for daily use, August 29, 2008
By
I ride a bike to work and take a change of clothes with me. While I have a pannier that attaches to my bike, it is too small to pack a change of clothes, lunch, shoes, et cetera. This bag is perfect for my purposes. It has lots of great, large, easy-access pockets for things you need to reach for (iPod, keys, et cetera) and a great space for magazines, clothes, whatever. I am enjoying it a lot and find it to be well crafted.

It is a great bag. Love the outside zipper, two front pockets inside flap along with several compartments inside plus an inside zippered pocket. It is very roomy and expands even more if you unzip. I bought the "park green" color and also bought the "park green" brownie wallet. Totally love both items. I was looking for a non-leather bags, and after a long search, Kipling is by far the best. Unfortunately, the color "park green" is being discontinued.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love My Expandable Bag!, December 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've had this bag for almost 2 years now. I'm an active university student and I usually carry a laptop, a lot of books around and sometimes even cameras (sometimes SLR) and external hard disks aswel. I'm a girl and sometimes events are at the end of a long class day and requiere formal clothes. I can dress formal enough during class but there is no way I'm walking in heels half the day and I don't want to carry an extra bag just for the heels. This bag is perfect for all that. It almost doubles in size when you need it. The front pockets are big enough for any lunch or thermo or gadgets and the inner zipper to keep anything small like earplugs or sim cards safe. The big front zipper is great to slip in any notes on the go. I do wish it had organizing pockets in the big front zipper to put a mobile phone or keys and not "loose" it in all the largeness of the zipper. However I cannot count the times I used this bag as just felt like "thank goodness I have this bag with me today" so I still love it!
