4.0 out of 5 stars Critter Crazy
Like all Kipper DVDs, this one is great value for money. Seven child-pleasing episodes make for an hour of fun, and this one is especially good for animal lovers. Martin Clunes again provides the voice for Kipper, and Chris Lang for everybody else.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not the Best Kipper Video, But Still Worth Buying
We own Pools Parks & Picnics, Fun In the Sun, Let It Snow, and the Playtime DVDs. I would have to say this ranks at the bottom of the popularity list among all that we own, but it's still good ole Kipper, so if you already have a few, it might be worth adding to your collection. Like all Kipper DVDs, this one is great value for money. Seven child-pleasing episodes make for an hour of fun, and this one is especially good for animal lovers. Martin Clunes again provides the voice for Kipper, and Chris Lang for everybody else.

The 7 episodes are:

The Nest - Kipper and Tiger come across a little lost bird, and while trying to get it back to its nest, they decide to try living in a tree. The worm hunting scene is hilarious, as is the nest building exercise.

Jake's Bird - Jake's pet bird flies the coop, and Kipper and Pig team up to help find it. They find more than they bargain for.

Echo, Echo - A clever parrot makes Kipper think he's hearing things. The parrot is an extremely funny character, with all the "good" lines.

The Goldfish - Kipper and Tiger both have aquatic pets, at least temporarily. The goldfish takes sweet revenge.

The Mouse - Kipper gets an uninvited house guest (The mouse is a little annoying)

Hide and Seek - More mouse play and lessons in counting

Hedgehog Watch - A spiky critter gets the upper hand on Kipper and Tiger.

Great for pre-school or kindergarten kids, and for adults needing a little peace and quiet.

Once again, Kipper has proved the perfect carton to play just before bedtime. And, again, the values of caring and sharing are displayed in such a subtle way that it was easy to mention these themes after the tape while my son was brushing his teeth for bed. Thank the group in England and Hungary(?) for doing these films!!

5.0 out of 5 stars My first Kipper purchase, April 15, 2004

This was my first Kipper video that I bought for my daughter who was age 2 1/2 at the time. I was expecting a simple-minded cartoon that would have nothing more than colorful movement on the TV. Instead I was delightfully surprised at the storylines, the playful interaction of the characters and lightheartedness that make Kipper such a great series.

We have had this video for well over a year and my daughter still asks to watch it. It is a wonderfully relaxing show, rather than filled with needless violence or conflict. I highly recommend the Kipper series to anyone with toddlers. It is such a great change from the typical video fare.

5.0 out of 5 stars Charming, delighful!, July 11, 2005
This review is from: Kipper - Cuddly Critters [VHS] (VHS Tape)
We love Kipper. The pacing is gentle and natural; none of the forty gazillion frames per minute stuff that you can see on Saturday morning cartoons that cripples your child's attention span. The stories are quirky (hedgehog watching, the phenomenon of birds actually eating worms), the characters are well developed, and the best part is hearing my kids run around re-enacting the scenes in British accents. (For some strange reason it reminds me of The Young Ones, that Eighties MTV show about 4 English college students-not necessarily a bad thing.) It is just under an hour, perfect for the hour-a-day TV limit if that's how things go in your house.

5.0 out of 5 stars My kids favorite of all the Kipper DVD's, September 21, 2009
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Kipper - Cuddly Critters (DVD)
We own or have borrowed all of the Kipper DVD's. Of the five we own this one gets the most requests from my two kids. My son is 5 and still likes to watch them. I can not say specifically why this is their favorite, but the mouse and hedgehog stories still get BIG giggles after years of watching.

As other reviewers have stated Kipper is very low-key and family friendly. Unlike some of the other shows my kids like, this one does not grate on my nerves after seeing it a few times. The stories are very simple, but creative and clever. There is a big emphasis on the characters coming up with simple ways to enterain themselves, them exploring nature, and navigating each others flaws and quirks with patience. The characters are very distinct in their personalities and not the typical kids show stereotypes. The music and artwork is also very well done. Another fun bit is the British words your child picks up from the DVD's. My son likes to call a flashlight a torch, talks about playing conkers, and will use occasional British expressions he learned on Kipper.

My favorite time to pull out the Kipper DVD's is for car trips or days the kids are sick. They seem to be calming, but entertaining to the kids and help them wind down.

If you are looking to buy other Kipper shows "Puppy Love" is our other favorite and it is almost as popular with the kids as this one. "Amazing Discoveries" is a great choice for kids over 3 with an emphasis on magic, aliens, and imaginary worlds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute!, May 15, 2008

This review is from: Kipper - Cuddly Critters (DVD)
This Kipper DVD is very cute and keeps my 2 year old's attention. She loves the mouse character! The cover is a bit misleading, the show that has the hamster isn't on this one but the "Pigs Present" episode of Kipper Helps Out. But it is still a wonderful dvd, and my daughter just loves Kipper!

5.0 out of 5 stars Puppy Love!, May 3, 2011
This review is from: Kipper - Cuddly Critters (DVD)
My son and I enjoy sitting together before bed, watching Kipper. It's soothing because of the calm voice of Kipper and his pals. The artwork is wonderful and the story lines are excellent. I wholeheartedly recommend all Kipper videos to whomever wonders. This particular Kipper is my favorite because of the funny little "pets" and new creatures that lend to Kipper's already filled day with friends.
