Product Description

Get ready for the strangest game of checkerboard golf you could ever imagine. Your ball is Kirby, a small, pink creature. Adjust the force and angle of your shot as you try to put Kirby into the hole. Along the way, you will have to avoid a number of obstacles including warp panels, conveyer belts, and turntables. To further complicate matters, there are a number of enemies to deal with as well. Luckily, the little pink creature can learn a number of new skills like fireball, freeze, spark, and parasol. If you are lucky, you will be able to transform your enemies into stars and reveal the cup hidden on each course. Prepare for a new twist on golf with KIRBY'S DREAM COURSE.

5.0 out of 5 stars A different type of kirby., October 4, 2001
This review is from: Kirby's Dream Course (Video Game)
This game is a fun golf-like game with lots of powers and traps. The first time I played this I was instantly addicted! The only problem was that I was only renting it. there was one bad part about the game, it was VERY hard. However, I managed to get somewhere, and had a ton of fun. THIS IS ONE GOOD BUY!!!

This game is awsome! It's been great getting back to the old game consoles and kicking but with a little pink ball!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my all-time favorites, September 17, 2008
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kirby's Dream Course (Video Game)
While this is not the best game to ever grace the SNES, it is my favorite. I can not tell you how much time I spent playing this game, it was/is so addictive. It was part golf, part puzzle, part action. Mostly golf and puzzle though, you have to plan out your shots and there are different ways to finish each hole, or level, but there is an optimal way to get the best score, which is a hole in one most of the time!

You are Kirby, only instead of sucking up enemies and side scrolling, you are a golf ball. You must "defeat" each enemy on the course by hitting them and once all are defeated, the very last one turns into the hole. Your goal is to make it into the hole with the least amount of strokes, just like golf. After defeating an enemy, you are able to obtain their powers just like you would expect from a Kirby game. Many familiar faces from Kirby games appear and you are able to obtain some pretty unique powers, most of which are necessary to get the lowest score possible.

The system used to "hit" Kirby takes a while to get used to. Aiming can be tricky but also very rewarding when you pull off the perfect shot with just the right about of backspin. You can hit Kirby into the air and cause him to bounce and spin, or you can go into "putt" mode and hit him straight across the ground with no airtime. There are a ton of obstacles and hills and other fun things scattered throughout the courses.

Based on your score, you are rewarded a medal at the end of each course. Each course consists of 9 holes and there are either 8 or 9 courses, if I remember correctly. So there's loads of time to spend perfecting your shots and trying to get the best score on each course. I spent months playing this game as a kid and after I hooked my SNES back up in college, I spent months playing this fun and engrossing game.

It is both one and two player, the two player allowing you to compete for the lowest score on a hole, each player playing the same hole at the same time, taking turns, just like real golf! You can even use your powers to knock the other player off the map and cause them to lose a stroke.

So, like I said, not the best game for SNES, but my favorite. I just typed all this up from memory! Now I'm going to have to go play it again, I'm getting nostalgic.
