Product Description

In the first two games in this series, Kirby's Dream Land and Kirby's Dream Land 2, everyone's favorite pink puff spent his time in the handheld world of the Game Boy. Now Kirby's ready for the big time as Kirby's Dream Land 3 hits televisions everywhere via the 16-bit Super NES. Once again, Kirby must save planet PopStar, but this time he's brought along some friends. A menacing cloud of Dark Matter surrounds PopStar, compelling its inhabitants to turn evil. Using his ability to suck enemies in and spit them back out at other enemies, Kirby must walk, dash, duck, drop, jump, fly and fight his way through five stages containing six levels each. If Kirby swallows an enemy, he can take on its special abilities. For example, Rocky will turn him to stone and KeKe gives him a broom for sweeping enemies off their feet. At various locations throughout the game, Kirby can unite with and hop on characters with different helpful attributes. For example, Kine is a great swimmer, Nago can perform a triple jump, and Coo can fly. There are 48 attack combinations in all. Kirby's best buddy Gooey, who has the same abilities as Kirby, fights alongside him and is controlled by the computer or the player using the second controller. Our heroes will journey through Grass Land, Ripple Field, Sand Canyon, Cloudy Park and Iceberg. There are numerous items to pick up, such as warp stars, energy drink and invincible candy, and a variety of mini-games to play. When Kirby's vitality reaches zero, he loses a life. The game is over when he runs out of lives. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide

4.0 out of 5 stars Third time is a charm, I suppose, December 4, 2011
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kirby's Dream Land 3 (Video Game)
It's kinda odd. The Kirby's Dream Land series has always been on the Game Boy, but then its third game, released in 1997, is on Super Nintendo. I wouldn't say that's a good decision, since the Nintendo 64 was already out by then. But those that still held onto their Super NES systems were in for a good time.

If you've played the previous Dream Land games or Kirby's Adventure, you would know what to expect here: Fun platforming combined with being able to steal enemies' powers. What's also cool is that now you can play with a friend or computer player to help you out. It's like the multiplayer elements in New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and Kirby's Return to Dream Land, but way, way earlier, and plus it has a CPU play with you, too.

What stops this game from getting 5 stars, though, is that it has a lack of challenge. Whatever IS challenging at first is then easy as you could understand it within a matter of time. The game has been rather a cakewalk almost throughout the game. But in this case, the walk is a great one, and the cake is tasty.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dream Land series landed on the SNES, September 20, 2011
By

= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Kirby's Dream Land 3 (Video Game)
Kirby's Dream Land and its sequel, Dream Land 2 were successful on the original Game Boy handheld and gave birth to a brand new franchise for Nintendo. At the end of the SNES's life cycle, they decided to continue the series and released Kirby's Dream Land 3 in 1997. Finally, the much celebrated series landed on the SNES and turned out to be a must own game for anyone who likes Kirby or platform games in general.

In Kirby's Dream Land 3, Popstar was invaded by a mysterious dark-like matter that takes over by controlling Kirby's main nemesis King Dedede and his army. So he takes off along with his pal, Gooey to stop this thing from creating more chaos. There are 6 worlds with 7 levels each waiting to be explored and cleared of enemies. Kirby can swallow most enemies he sees and copy their abilities or he can spit them out in the form of stars to attack other enemies. Also, you'll encounter some of Kirby's animal friends each with his/her own special abilities. There are plenty of power ups to pick up along with mini games to play. Some of them are there for fun while others are required to win in order to fulfill special conditions. These special conditions are required to complete if you want to win special heart icons in each level needed to unlock the 6th world. For the first time in the series, you and a friend can play along together where the second player takes control of Gooey. He too has the same abilities as Kirby but as an added challenge, when two players play together, they share the same health bar. After you beat the game, the mini games that appear in the main game are available to play on the side for 1 or 2 players.
Your progress is automatically saved after you complete each level.

The PROS: If you ever wanted to see how Kirby's Dream Land would look like on the SNES, it looks and plays as great as you thought it would. From the intro sequence all the way to the game's ending, Kirby's Dream Land 3 does not disappoint. For a game released after the Nintendo 64 hit the market, the SNES would leave gamers with a bang. Fans of Kirby will dig the graphics, awesome game play, Kirby's copy abilities and the ability to merge that with the animals you get to use, music and light hear-ted theme of the game. There's even a cameo appearance from one of Nintendo's other franchises who needs Kirby's help. Having Gooey as a second playable character is a welcome addition and the mini games adds some re playability once you beat the main game. The game is not too hard but it gives you enough of a challenge to figure out how to solve the puzzles and which abilities work best in certain levels.

The CONS: None. It would be the last entry in the Dream Land series.

For Kirby fans, this is a must own. For those who enjoy platform games, you should check this out as well as it's a fun alternative to the Mario games. In case you haven't enjoyed this great game, pick up a used copy or download this game for the Wii from the Virtual Console Service for $8.00 (800 points.) You cannot go wrong with investing some cash and time with this game. *****HIGHLY RECOMMENDED*****

5.0 out of 5 stars all I can say is Kirby rules, August 15, 2010

Kirby is the king of cuteness, but that cuteness backfires on all those bad guys. I have never played a bad Kirby game and Kirby's Dreamland 3 was no exception. fun game, very easy to pick up and play, because the difficulty isn't too hard or too easy. on the more expensive side now a days it is worth a play, but I don't know if I would be willing to pay 50 bucks for a cartridge only copy.
