A common man's point of view.,

Well yeah, I'm common. I'm so common I will even tell perfect strangers I have an irritable bowel. OK, it sounds better to say I have IBS. If you have the same problem, you know what it means. If you DO have the same problem and don't know what to do about it, get this product. It's the same as Imodiom AD, but a LOT cheaper. For me its a miracle drug. I have to take two every day, so I need a source at a good price and this can't be beat....Richard.

While I was shopping at Walmart once, I saw the Equate brand of loperamide come down in cost fairly close to this Kirkland's product. They had a 2 pack of the 96-count for around $4 if I recall correctly. But now they've jacked that price up quite a bit, and I suspect they'll lower the price again when they have a promotion. This Kirkland's brand is the best price at this time. And as others have already said, it's the same stuff as what you get in Immodium A-D, but costs more than 10 times less than Immodium.
Most of you who do not have IBS or some other chronic condition will not need this much product. Traveler's diarrhea can be helped with this, but I found that it didn't work very well for me in my trip to China. If you're worried about getting traveler's diarrhea, you should ask your doctor for some antibiotic pills to take with you on your trip. I'd also take probiotic pills with you - the best one that I know of being the Align probiotic pill. And maybe think about buying a water bottle with a built-in filtration system. Or maybe a UV light wand for sterilizing water. If you have IBS-D, follow your doctor's advice of course. I inquired about loperamide, and apparently there are no long-term safety issues with taking this everyday. That could change, though, so keep your eyes open. Some people take an entire day's dosage in one gulp. Others spread it out through the day. I think it's better to do the latter. You need to find out what works for you. Start with maybe one or two pills before each meal and see how that works. If you're too constipated, remove a pill or two and see how that goes. One other thing. You can take calcium carbonate pills (like Tums) to achieve a similar result. Calcium absorbs the liquids in your intestine, thereby making your stool more solid. It's just that you'll need to eat about a dozen Tums with each meal. Who wants to do that?
