Doing research on a prescription pill called Lovaza as an alternative to this. I called Costco, spoke with their pharmacy for this supplement they quoted:

EPA 410mg per
DHA 274mg per

Compared to the wonder drug (for high-tri problems) Lovaza:

EPA 465mg per
DHA 375mg per

So you're getting a little less EPA and considerably less DHA compared to the prescription fish oil pill. But for me (and I'd assume most people who have pharmacy copays and/or deductibles), the cost of taking one additional supplement capsule per day is ultimately FAR less expensive than going prescription.

I take regular blood tests as a factor of my employment. In the past, I've had high cholesterol and triglycerides. Three months ago I decided to start taking daily fish oil supplements. Two months ago I picked up this particular kind. A month ago I started taking two of these per day, based on the fact that a coworker told me about his daily intake as directed by a doctor.

So, what was the result so far?

My triglycerides dropped over 30% in 3 months!
My overall cholesterol dropped, while at the same time my good cholesterol went up.

And these are the medically measurable results. Other things I've noticed:

My mood has improved dramatically. It takes a lot to break me out of a good mood now.
My hair and skin both look and feel much healthier.
I seem to have slightly lower blood pressure as well, but I can't be sure.

So, long story short: For me, these just plain _work_. And there is zero fishy aftertaste or burping. The price is right as well. You have nothing to lose, just beware of the warning labels as with all supplements.

I'd had to discontinue my use of regular fish oil capsules because they gave me not only the dreaded "fish belch" but also heartburn/indigestion. I've been taking this brand of enteric coated caps for several days now and have had no problems whatsoever. Shipping was quick, packaging was good. Very satisfied!

This is a side-by-side comparison of ten leading omega-3 fish oil supplements: OmegaVia Pharma-Grade Fish Oil, Nutrigold Triple Strength Fish Oil Omega-3 Gold, Garden of Life Minami Nutrition Platinum Omega 3 Plus D3 Formula, Norwegian Gold Ultimate Fish Oils Super Critical Omega, Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega, Omapure Pharmaceutical Grade Omega-3 Fish Oil, Now Ultra Omega-3, UnoCardio 1000 + Vitamin D 1000, Innovix Triple Strength Omega-3, and Kirkland Signature Enteric Coated Fish Oil.

There are three major components of omega-3 in these products: EPA (which is good for your heart, circulatory system, lowering triglycerides, depression and mood orientation, and is a powerful anti-inflammatory for soothing joint pains), DHA (which is good for your mental acuity, or if you are pregnant, nursing an infant, or for children), and "other." Other omega-3s, like DPA and SDA, are types of fatty acids which are easily converted to EPA in the body. In most fish oils, the amount of these other fatty acids is low, but in highly concentrated oils, it can be a significant amount. The important components are EPA and DHA.

BREAKDOWN: Here is a breakdown of these supplements.

This is a terrific product. I love the fact that it is enteric! No stomach trouble at all.

The cap are a bit big, but they are surprisingly easy to swallow.

My doctor recommended I take fish oil for my blood pressure and triglyceride levels and, although I have not had blood work done since taking these pills, I can say that these definitely do not cause major fish burps, although a couple small ones during the day do occur. The pills do smell and I do my best not to leave them in my mouth for too long and the bottle definitely smells, so do not be surprised at this after reading so many "no fish smell" reviews.

I get these from my local costco usually. Regular price is $15.99 in store and on costco's website. Recently it's on sale for $1 off in store only.

It's cheap and it's got a lot of the actual things you want in fish oil (DHA/EPA). This is going to be my go go fish oil for a long time.

I also put up pictures from the latest bottle I got, along with size reference.

Update: It is now 2013 and I'm no longer taking these capsules. Over the years I've been more discriminating about omega-3 capsules because more brands have come on the market and you can look for more information on the internet and get a better understanding of them.

Take a look at the list of ingredients in this product. There are a few ingredients in there that I recognize that I don't want to be taking. Among them: propylene glycol, ammonium hydroxide and stearic acid. In my humble opinion, there shouldn't be any ingredients in the capsule other than the oil but that's just me. I have downwardly revised this to 3 stars.

------------------------------

My short and sweet summary:

Source: Small fish (anchovy and sardines), deep ocean, not fish farmed.
Method: Molecular distillation.
Toxins: Mercury, PCB's, dioxins removed, USP certified.
Amounts:
1200mg total fish oil per capsule.
EPA+DHA 684mg per capsule.
EPA+DHA 123,120mg/123.12g per bottle (180 capsules).
Value: Divide price by 123.12 (the amount of EPA+DHA per bottle) to get a price per gram of EPA+DHA and a comparison value against other brands.

Comments: Enteric coated, one of the very few I've seen. Contains a lot of total fish oil and EPA+DHA per capsule, I think the most I've ever seen as well.
