Product Description

By breaking down lactose (milk sugar) it helps make dairy foods easier to digest and helps to prevent uncomfortable symptoms. This product is a dietary supplement which contains natural lactase enzyme. It is NOT A DRUG. May be used by everyone ages 4 years and up. Because it goes to work quickly, more lactose (milk sugar) can be broken down overall. This product begins to work more than TWICE AS FAST as Ultra strength products previously available. Dosage is the same convenient single pill as Ultra

Both of my kids are lactose intolerant--1 severely and 1 mildly. We use these all the time and both are symptom free.

I developed lactose intolerance in my late 40's, and it took me a while to figure out what the problem was. Several times after drinking a Starbuck's latte, I developed almost instant, uncontrollable diarrhea and finally put 2 and 2 together and diagnosed myself. I tried another brand, and though it lessened the symptoms somewhat, I couldn't eat a slice of pizza or consume cheese without feeling at least a little discomfort. Since using the Kirkland brand, I never have to worry about which foods to avoid. I carry a few pills with me everywhere (including my travel kit), and swallow one just before taking the first bite of anything cheesy or milky looking. If it's a very cheesy pizza, I take two. You don't need to chew them, so there is no taste, and I haven't had any side effects at all. If I'm out at a restaurant and considering ordering a dairy-based dish, I check my stash of little pills first. If I don't have any on hand, I just order something else. Lactose intolerance is no longer something I have to worry about - I have the antidote !

I've used the Lactaid name brand caplets and overall they seem to have a superior build quality to these from Kirkland. But since I'm taking this with milk I don't really notice the chalky taste some have referenced. All in all these are half the price of the Lactaid ones. I spent 37 years drinking milk without issue and I used to drink a lot of it; easily a half gallon a day. Then over the course of a year I became lactose intolerant. My general rule with these pills and milk is one caplet works fine for up to 20-24oz of milk which is more than most people drink. If I anticipate a ingestion of more than 24oz I'll take 2 caplets and I'm completely fine. [On a personal note I rarely drink more than 16oz of milk at a time these days so one is all I take for that]

Just like the heading says, the Kirkland Signature Fast Acting Lactase (referred to as "Kirkland's") works, but it is weak. I personally need 2-4 pills when I consume dairy.

I have relatively bad lactose intolerance (a teaspoon of ice cream is enough to cause gastrointestinal complications), and I have tried a variety of lactase supplements from lactase with probiotics to Lactaid to Kirkland's.

In comparison to the other products, I would rank Kirkland's somewhere in the middle for the following reasons:
1) I need 1 Lactaid for every 2 Kirkland's or 2 Lactaid for every 3 Kirkland's
2) The price is cheaper than Lactaid.
3) The price is significantly cheaper than the lactase with probiotics out on the market.

This product is good for people with moderate lactose intolerance.

This product is not good for people with severe lactose intolerance, unless you are prepared to take several pills when consuming dairy.

I would absolutely purchase this product again. It's less expensive than Lactaid, works just as well and arrived in just one day!

My husband was wasting a lot of money on Lactaid milk. So I figured this would be a great solution and what an awesome price. I always trust Amazon reviews so it was a go.

They are TERRIBLE. I do believe this is the very first time I have given anything only 1 star. I am almost convinced that the people rating it 5 stars either got a) the real thing or b) don't have a lactose intolerance! That is how BAD these are.

I am going to attempt to return what is left to Amazon and go with the known brand. Even CVS brand works. Maybe we got an inert batch or something, I can't figure it out. And yes, my husband even tried taking 3-4 tabs. He still had the same symptoms as if he had taken nothing. BAD.

The caplets are really well priced, you can buy them in bulk with a long used by date and they arrived on time.
