I pronounce this product good and low in salt. The only drawback might be the phosphate content, but if that doesn't kill me, something else most definitely will.

I'm a skinny person, but whatever food providers claim to be a serving never works for me. The most I'll get out of this can is two servings; a larger person might have to eat the entire can's content, which contains a lot of broth. I had my serving with mashed potatoes and peas, and it was good after I doctored the meat with curry, onion, Tobasco sauce, sesame oil, and garlic. Although olive oil makes a lot of things taste delicious, my body behaves better when I feed it sesame seed oil. Next time, I'll try the beef in spaghetti sauce or tomato sauce with vegetable puree. However, I'm okay eating insipid stuff, so I could have easily eaten the meat as a sandwich with just lettuce and tomatoes. For people who can't eat anything without flavor, you will need to add whatever you prefer; think of it as plain beef because that's pretty much what it is, with plenty of beef broth that you can use as a stock for stew, gravy, or any other concoction. I used a portion of the broth over my potatoes; it made them smoother.

Here in California, we have an ongoing threat with natural disasters, and I'm thinking specifically of earthquakes but other things might also be taken into consideration. With a major earthquake, all electricity, natural gas, most communications and transportation could be out of order for unspecified times. It is strongly advised that the populace ought to be prepared for such an event. Foodstuffs, water, batteries, temporary lighting and a variety of other provisions ought to be in supply to last at least a week, perhaps more.

Well, no one can ever be totally prepared for an unexpected natural disaster, but I try to at least keep the food and drinkable water cabinets full. Fruits and veggies are real easy in canned or dried forms. Nuts, dried foods of other kinds and crackers are a snap. Good sources of protein are another matter and a little more difficult. Here I've gone with a number of canned items and one such item is Kirkland Signature Roast Beef in Beef Broth which comes in four-can packets and which I get at my local Costco warehouse store. It's fairly economical and easy to use.

The Kirkland Roast Beef surprisingly tasty for a canned meat product. It can be eaten as it is or used in a variety of recipes. The beef is very low in fat and consists of tasty chunks of top and bottom round. It's fully cooked, but might be heated if you like. Now and then, in non-emergency times, I use a can so that there is a gradual turnover. Plus, I like to take a can or two along when I go on camping trips. It suits these purposes well and I'm very satisfied with this excellent product.

I recently purchased a 4-pack of Kirkland Signature Roast Beef in the hopes of using it in the event of an emergency, power outage or even a last minute meal ingredient. Please note, my local (Western WA) Costco sells this product for less than $13.00. I prepared a dinner for my husband & myself using a "helper-style" product and a can of this beef instead of the hamburger called for. (A test-run of shelf safe dinner.) This worked perfectly and made a great dinner for us. I just bought another 4-pack tonight. Check your local store for prices, if you can. If you can't - I still recommend this as a great product.

I have always loved Chipped Beef on toast, better known as SOS to us old timers.

Dice 1 slice of bacon and brown in a skillet, next chop 2 green onions and saute' with bacon and bacon drippings. Add one can Kirkland Signature Roast Beef and bring to a nice simmer while mixing 1 pkg of white gravy mix (Biscuit gravy style). When beef is simmering, stir in gravy mix, aand 1 TBS. sour cream, and stir while retuning to simmer. When thick enough, serve over dry toast.....Enjoy!

I expected quality because of the hyperbolic reviews, but what a disconnect between reviews and actual product. This is a watery soup, filling about half of the can, with small disintegrated pieces of tasteless meat swimming in it.

No comparison with to the other canned beef carried by Amazon which is just a tad more expensive and a real steal compared to this imposter of "Roast Beef" -

Thankfully Amazon goes out of their way and replaced the bad with the good,
I am writing this to saves others from making the same mistake.

This is the product I have ordered in the past and will continue to order. The 12 oz can is stuffed with firm, juicy meat, with just enough liquid to distribute the excellent seasoning.

So take in the reviews with a grain of salt, mostly the food reviews since they often are subjective and literally a matter of taste. However in this case it is more than taste, it is content plain and simple.
