Customer Reviews

They went over big at my house, and I'm buying another can.
Peter M. Ross, Ph.D.
The peanuts are really large, nice and crunchy, have just the right amount of salt, and have a delicious flavor.
Stephen M. Charme
Kirkland peanuts also have more "crunch" - but taste as good as Williamsburg peanuts.

This is one of my favorite snacks. The peanuts are really large, nice and crunchy, have just the right amount of salt, and have a delicious flavor.

Kirkland is the Costco brand. I buy these at my local Costco for just under nine dollars. The current price on Amazon is much higher.

Update Dec. 24, 2013: The current price at my local Costco is 6.99.

Virginia style peanuts are my all time favorite. They are distinictivly diffrent from say, Planters cocktail style peanuts in thier size, taste, "tooth" and cooking time. Where Coctail style peanuts are cooked alot longer and end up darker with a stronger flavor. Virigina peanuts typically are cooked less, have a crunchier "tooth" to them and have a milder taste.
These are cooked darker, so they have a stronger taste and loose alot of the tooth as they are softer. maybe because more of the cooking medium gets intot he nut?
They are a nice alternative, but will not replace my regular brand, even though they are just a few $ cheaper.

I received two tins of Kirkland (Costco Brand)- to get Amazon's free shipping I compared them with Williamsburg peanuts - that someone gave me for Christmas. The Kirkland peanuts seem to be a bit smaller than Williamsburg peanuts. Kirkland peanuts also have more "crunch" - but taste as good as Williamsburg peanuts. Price wise, Amazon offers two 40 oz. tins of Williamsburg @ 45 cents/oz, and two tins of Kirkland @ 41 cents/oz. So the Kirkland peanuts are 9 per cent cheaper. I often snack on peanuts during the day, and Kirkland peanuts satisfy my craving. But, for a slightly higher price, I may order Williamsburg peanuts next time.

My daughter gave me a can of these peanuts that she bought at Costco. They are much crunchier than your average Planters peanut. I really like their different texture and flavor. Further, the nuts are consistently much larger than your average cocktail peanuts. The large container allows me to easily open the lid, grab a handful of nuts, and then seal the can again with my free hand. You might laugh at this but I find it to be a good feature. I bought two more cans at Amazon and they arrived quickly....don't know how the price compares with Costco but I don't care since I don't belong to Costco.

We ordered these because the brand we have on automatic shipment was out of stock and not expected to be available for weeks. The verdict: Not bad, but far from the best. Yes, they were fairly large and crunchy. But when compared to the "gold standard" of jumbo VA peanuts (Royal Oak) the can of "Super Extra-Large" Kirkland peanuts we received had a distinct not-quite-fresh taste. We decided to use them in homemade chocolate-peanut-marshmallow candy, where their size and crunch...but not their taste...would stand out. Our next order will be for Royal Oak brand peanuts in 40-ounce cans, by far the best of the many "gourmet" brands we've tried.

One of the items I picked up on my latest visit to my local Costco Warehouse store was a huge 2.5 pound can of Kirkland Signature Super Extra-Large Virginia Peanuts. I've never seen such a large can. These ought to last a while! Plus the can has a replaceable top to help preserve freshness.

The peanuts are lightly roasted and lightly salted. They are completely devoid of their skins. Good crunchyness. Good flavor, if slightly somewhat bland. It's a good buy for me in that I've cut down on meats and other animal products as a matter of health and peanuts have no animal fats nor cholesterol, yet offer a good protein component to the diet.

The nuts are large and very tasty. A little more well done that the Willamsburg Peanuts and a little more salty. But very, very nice. But I bought them (Sept 2013) for $6.99 at COSTCO this week.

I was jonesing for some great big ol' peanuts, and I wanted 'em crunchy style. These are pretty dang big, but I was not as happy with the crunch factor. I wanted "break your fillings' crunch on every bite. These are moderately crunchy. I was not knocked out by the flavor, either. Nothing off putting, you understand, just not the gustatory dynamite I hoped for.
