I've used these slides for a long time. After about 15 years of exposure to hot sun, they started to fall apart. They were holding long, heavy drapes since I have vaulted ceilings. There's nothing wrong with these slides and 15 years under those conditions is more than fine. But I needed to get some in a hurry for one set of drapes and picked up some generic house brand ones from a home center store. The other brand seemed to be slightly smoother when the curtains were drawn.

I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with these, but they seem no better or worse than any others. Even though the other brand glides more smoothly for me, it's not enough of a reason to stay clear of these. Overall, I'd say these work just fine, but so do others. If you've had other brands fall apart much sooner, then it might be that I'm overestimating the competition. I have these on some windows and wouldn't hesitate to buy them, but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy them.
