Book Description

March 28, 2011
Pippa Ingleside will do anything to escape her ruthless uncle, but even she is surprised when her previously dormant powers aid her. Surprised and afraid. Her newly discovered abilities may have saved her but they condemn her at the same time.

Disguised as a boy, she travels to the home of Lord Ashbourne to find her one and only friend. To maintain her disguise and put a roof over her head, Pippa accepts a job as page of the wardrobe to Ash, a man as mysterious as he is dangerous. If he discovers her lie, he'll send her back to her uncle and her witchcraft will be exposed to the authorities.

As the lies build it gets harder for Pippa to maintain her disguise, especially when she falls in love with the man she must serve.

Her only hope is to find her friend. But when the friend is murdered, Ash investigates and where he goes, his page goes too. Together they uncover a web of secrets that could destroy Ash and condemn Pippa. But that's nothing compared to what happens when he discovers she's a woman...

NOTE: Each of The Witchblade Chronicles books is a complete novel with different characters. They do not need to be read in order.

Funny and Fun July 20, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Very fun, funny, entertaining, and even despite the witchy powers, believable. It wasn't ridiculous or eye rolling. The story had a lot of twists and turns that I didn't entirely predict and I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and the characters' banter.

Very enjoyable and very well written. I just don't feel like summarizing the plot right now. LOL

Favorite moment: Ash thinks his "pageboy" is a shy boy and decides to have some fun with what he considers is an awkward teenager... "Go on." Ash waggled his hips to make his (you know what) swing. "We've both got one of these. I'm sure mine looks the same as yours."

OMG. Imagine how embarrassed he will be when he discovers his pageboy is a chick. LOL

A worthy successor April 9, 2011

I devoured the first book in this series, and I was interested in seeing what would happen to Ash so I devoured this one too. Unlike the heroine of the first book, Pippa is new to her powers and knows next to nothing about them. Ash is knee deep in his own intrigues, and there is very little of the Merritts in this book. I did like Pippa's conflict as hers was understandable. I didn't like Ash's conflict as much. While Archer solves the problem nicely at the end, I couldn't help feeling like something was lost. And yes, the book was realistic in its solution, but I found the change disappointing to an otherwise smashing success. I guess I read romances for the completely happy endings. Since this was the second time I had read about a witch of Archer's making some of the scenes were easy to anticipate. Still, it is a worthy successor to the first book, and I am genuinely looking forward to the rest of the series.

As a former actor at the Renaissance Pleasure Faire (in Agoura and Devore, Calif.) I was appalled at the lack of research this author did - the detailed descriptions of Elizabethan clothing are TOTALLY WRONG! An amusing read if you can stomach the complete lack of authenticity in the way the characters dress. This author needs to read a few books on Elizabethan clothing and history.
