Book Description

The Western Sky Series January 1, 2010

Bestselling author Lori Copeland shares another marvelous romantic Western full of God’s grace, the beauty of redemption, and second chances.

Famous bounty hunter Cade Kolby is forced off the trail to decide the fate of his late sister’s orphaned children. He’s not just returning to his hometown and nieces and nephews, but also to the fiery redhead he loved and left 17 years ago.

The last person Zoe Bradshaw wants to see is Cade. She tries to be cool and polite, even as the attraction between them flares up again. Only this time, Zoe is determined to not let Cade get close to her heart.

But the townsfolk have other ideas. They want to see the little orphans with a mother and a father, and they form a plan that includes the possibility of a kiss...

Formerly titled The Courtship of Cade Kolby, rewritten for the inspirational market.

5.0 out of 5 stars a terrific inspirational historical romance, January 13, 2010
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
In 1885 in Winterborn, Kansas John and Addy die from a disease leaving behind four small children. Addy's bounty hunter brother Cade Kolby comes home to pay his respects to his sister and deal with his orphaned nieces and nephews. Fifteen years he has stayed away, but the youngsters do not frighten him much compared with seeing Widow Zoe Bradshaw whom he loved and left anyway.

Zoe is caring for his kin as if they are hers. When Cade arrives, she makes it clear he is not wanted by her or his family. However, the townsfolk argue the kids come first and they need parents. They want the couple married. However as each of the two adults struggle with their past, a gunslinger arrives with one objective kill Cade anyway he can, which means a beautiful fiery redhead and children are expendable.

A Kiss for Cade is a terrific inspirational historical romance starring a community that believes it takes a town with caring parents to raise children. Zoe is a strong woman who can handle anything including raising four orphans, moving on from the senseless murder of her kind spouse and burying her best friend since childhood; anything except the return of Cade. He has a chance for redemption with her and the kids if he takes it. Reminiscent of the Glen Ford movie The Fastest Gun in the West, fans will enjoy this fun matchmaking Americana as a forgiving town encourages second chances.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet and Rugged Western Romance, January 10, 2010

This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
Lori Copeland's latest novel, "A Kiss For Cade", is the tender story of a man who left home and the woman he loved to pursue a career as a bounty hunter. When Cade Kolby returns home after 15 years pursuing the Most Wanted of the Wild West, it is to determine the fate of the four children left behind by his recently deceased sister. Part of the problem is that his former love (who also happens to be his sister's best friend), Zoe Bradshaw, wants to raise the children but can't afford to do it. I have just begun reading this book and I know that eventually Cade will settle down with Zoe as he promised 15 years earlier and they will raise his sister's children together, but the fun of this read is being there while it happens.

There are many touching and humorous exchanges between the various characters in this western historical romance. The plot is carefully woven with scenes that are so well crafted as to appear random. The dialogue is true to what I know of this point in history, and it made me laugh often as the characters in the story continue to speak prophetically of the outcome for this leading man and his lady. Lori Copeland has written a beautiful book that I recommend to anyone who enjoys tales of the old West and romance. This is my favorite Lori Copeland novel to date!

4.0 out of 5 stars Lori's Quickly Becoming a Favorite of Mine!, February 15, 2010
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
A Kiss for Cade is the second book in Lori Copeland's Western Sky Series, and let me tell ya, she knows how to do a western romance right. It's more romance than western, but just the mere mention of bounty hunters, ransoms, and gunfighting....well, that's where you get a good taste of the Old West. Some might say that this is a "sweet" romance, and I agree just a little bit except for the fact that this story seems to have a little more meat on its bones.

Zoe has every right to be infuriated with Cade when he comes rolling into her small town, and it's not just because she was obeying her dying friend's last wish. Cade left Zoe years ago, and she not ready to let him forget it any time soon. But now, he's got to make a decision about his orphaned nieces and nephews, and Zoe does everything short of begging to get Cade to let the children live with her permanently. Not only does Zoe have to consider the children, she's in financial trouble at the store she owns, and she's barely making ends meet. After all that, I'm sure you can see what I mean that this isn't an all "kisses and hugs" story, but when the romance shows up....um, it's REALLY good! :o)

While this book is the second book in the Western Sky Series, it has no connection whatsoever to the first book, Outlaw's Bride. And like Outlaw's Bride, A Kiss for Cade is a book that Lori originally wrote for the mainstream market and has since updated it to appeal to Christian fiction lovers. Most of the crossover novels I've read in the past seem to fall a little flat with the Christian elements seeming to be added as an afterthought, but this one, along with Outlaw's Bride, didn't have that problem whatsoever. After reading two books now by Lori that have been rewritten and loving them, I hope she rewrites all her mainstream novels!
