a terrific inspirational historical romance,
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
In 1885 in Winterborn, Kansas John and Addy die from a disease leaving behind four small children. Addy's bounty hunter brother Cade Kolby comes home to pay his respects to his sister and deal with his orphaned nieces and nephews. Fifteen years he has stayed away, but the youngsters do not frighten him much compared with seeing Widow Zoe Bradshaw whom he loved and left anyway.
Zoe is caring for his kin as if they are hers. When Cade arrives, she makes it clear he is not wanted by her or his family. However, the townsfolk argue the kids come first and they need parents. They want the couple married. However as each of the two adults struggle with their past, a gunslinger arrives with one objective kill Cade anyway he can, which means a beautiful fiery redhead and children are expendable. A Kiss for Cade is a terrific inspirational historical romance starring a community that believes it takes a town with caring parents to raise children. Zoe is a strong woman who can handle anything including raising four orphans, moving on from the senseless murder of her kind spouse and burying her best friend since childhood; anything except the return of Cade. He has a chance for redemption with her and the kids if he takes it. Reminiscent of the Glen Ford movie The Fastest Gun in the West, fans will enjoy this fun matchmaking Americana as a forgiving town encourages second chances. Harriet Klausner

A Sweet and Rugged Western Romance,
By
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
Lori Copeland's latest novel, "A Kiss For Cade", is the tender story of a man who left home and the woman he loved to pursue a career as a bounty hunter. When Cade Kolby returns home after 15 years pursuing the Most Wanted of the Wild West, it is to determine the fate of the four children left behind by his recently deceased sister. Part of the problem is that his former love (who also happens to be his sister's best friend), Zoe Bradshaw, wants to raise the children but can't afford to do it. I have just begun reading this book and I know that eventually Cade will settle down with Zoe as he promised 15 years earlier and they will raise his sister's children together, but the fun of this read is being there while it happens.
There are many touching and humorous exchanges between the various characters in this western historical romance. The plot is carefully woven with scenes that are so well crafted as to appear random. The dialogue is true to what I know of this point in history, and it made me laugh often as the characters in the story continue to speak prophetically of the outcome for this leading man and his lady. Lori Copeland has written a beautiful book that I recommend to anyone who enjoys tales of the old West and romance. This is my favorite Lori Copeland novel to date!

Lori's Quickly Becoming a Favorite of Mine!,
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
A Kiss for Cade is the second book in Lori Copeland's Western Sky Series, and let me tell ya, she knows how to do a western romance right. It's more romance than western, but just the mere mention of bounty hunters, ransoms, and gunfighting....well, that's where you get a good taste of the Old West. Some might say that this is a "sweet" romance, and I agree just a little bit except for the fact that this story seems to have a little more meat on its bones.
Zoe has every right to be infuriated with Cade when he comes rolling into her small town, and it's not just because she was obeying her dying friend's last wish. Cade left Zoe years ago, and she not ready to let him forget it any time soon. But now, he's got to make a decision about his orphaned nieces and nephews, and Zoe does everything short of begging to get Cade to let the children live with her permanently. Not only does Zoe have to consider the children, she's in financial trouble at the store she owns, and she's barely making ends meet. After all that, I'm sure you can see what I mean that this isn't an all "kisses and hugs" story, but when the romance shows up....um, it's REALLY good! :o) While this book is the second book in the Western Sky Series, it has no connection whatsoever to the first book, Outlaw's Bride. And like Outlaw's Bride, A Kiss for Cade is a book that Lori originally wrote for the mainstream market and has since updated it to appeal to Christian fiction lovers. Most of the crossover novels I've read in the past seem to fall a little flat with the Christian elements seeming to be added as an afterthought, but this one, along with Outlaw's Bride, didn't have that problem whatsoever. After reading two books now by Lori that have been rewritten and loving them, I hope she rewrites all her mainstream novels!

This book review is for the novel "A Kiss For Cade" by Lori Copeland.I have long been a fan of Lori's books and was glad to get the opportunity to read this one as well and will look for more books by her in the future! This particular title is a part of The Western Sky Series. While I wasn't the biggest fan of the cover for the book it does fairly well help represent the story. Zoe Bradshaw would rather eat dirt than clap eyes on Cade Colby, the bounty hunter, ever again. However, when her best friend, Cade's sister, passes away along with her husband from a mysterious fever, she is left with one last wish from her...contact Cade and have him decide her children's fate. Zoe doesn't understand this request when she would just as soon give everything she has, which is barely anything, to be able to keep the children who are like her own. In spite of her anger toward Cade she respects this last request and sends a letter to him informing him of their passing and that he needs to get his butt back to town. Little does Zoe know just how much of an upset Cade is going to cause. Not only with her own angry and fragile emotions but with the children and their quick attatchment to their Uncle Cade. Can he redeem the awful that he has done to Zoe, embrace fatherhood by raising his neices and nephews and settle down??? If you asked Cade the answer would be a resounding NO! He has made far to many enemies in the last 15 years and to much time has passed to every call this town home again. As soon as he decides what to do with the children he will be out of there as fast as his horse can fly through town. But maybe God has plans that Cade refuses to see or imagine. Join in this charming small town story! It kept me turning pages late into the night and I will be reading more of this series! *Note* I received this book for free from Harvest House in exchange for a review about it. I am not required to post a positive review. Any opinions expressed are my own and they are sincere.

A Delightful Story,
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful story. The last person Zoe Bradshaw wanted to see was a sweetheart from 15 years ago. He had once promised that he would return but he never lived up to his promise. Now he is back home, trying to find a decent place for his late sister's kids to live. Seeing Cade after all these years makes her heart remember how she once felt, but Zoe is furious because he had not kept his promise to her. She will not allow her heart to be broken once again.
As Lori Copeland developed each character, I found myself enjoying the story more and more. Zoe is a fiery woman with lots of spunk. She's not about to let anyone push her around. And Cade is so easy to fall in love with. He's such a man... and just the right temperament for this spunky lady. The four children are absolutely adorable and you can imagine what they're like in your mind's eye. A few other characters bring laughter to many scenes, which makes the book hard to put down. Lori has a real talent for creating humor and romance in the most delightful ways. She has you laughing one moment and sighing the next. Lori amazes me how she can make such humorous situations in between the serious ones. Review written by Linda Weaver Clarke, author of the historical romance series, A Family Saga in Bear Lake, Idaho.

a kiss for cade,
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
I just got done reading A kiss for Cade. I'm already a big fan of Lori Copeland, and after reading this latest book I'm still a big fan. I really liked this book. One of my favorite parts were her dialogs of the children and Cade. I laughed many times through the pages, I also had tears in some places. I was frustrated with Cade at times too, that just shows me how good of a writer Lori is. I highly recommend this book, it will make you a fan of Lori Copeland too.

A Kiss for Cade
Books that call me back `usually' have unique and delightful language in them. Such is the case with Lori Copeland. She has darling `hickified' people who can give you such a mental image with the phrases they say and the adjective pictures they conjure up for we the readers. She comes up with unusual fun and funny things that you haven't heard a hundred times before. I think her writing is delightful.

Very Entertaining!,

Cade Kolby has spent years as a bounty hunter and plans to spend the rest of his life doing the same. Afterall, bounty hunters can't exactly retire - too many enemies looking for revenge. When his sister, Addy, dies and leaves behind four children, her last directive is that Cade should decide who will care for her children. Addy's best friend, Zoe, immediately takes custody of the children while they await Cade's return to Winterborn. Zoe loves the children as her own and intends to convince Cade that she should have custody. She's determined to be polite and professional despite her tumultuous past with Cade. Unfortunately for Zoe, sparks fly immediately upon Cade's arrival. Will Zoe and Cade be able to move beyond their past? And even if they could, would Cade ever be able to provide a safe and stable environment for her and the children?
A Kiss for Cade by Lori Wick was definitely an entertaining read. The chemistry between Cade and Zoe was excellent. My only complaint was that at one point, which I won't exactly specify because it would be a spoiler, there was plot twist that seemed cheesy. Had that part not seemed so cheesy, it might have been humorous. Overall, A Kiss for Cade is enjoyable and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys historical romances.

PREPOSTEROUS, is the only word to describe this book!,
By Christine H. "soblessed" (,OH,U.S.A.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: A Kiss for Cade (The Western Sky Series) (Paperback)
"A Kiss For Cade", I'm actually amazed that I stuck with this book till the end, since the only word to describe it is "Preposterous",LOL! Look up the definition for that word and it describes this book perfectly. The story is just too ridiculous to believe!
Come on, the hero was a preacher's son and he grows up to be a paid killer/bounty hunter,to help his parents financially when they get older? Either his father was the world's worst preacher, or Cade is as dense as a piece of coal, that he never got the message that killing is morally wrong and to do it for money, even though he would bring them in "alive" if they would cooperate,is even worse! To top it off we are supposed to believe that the entire town,'including the new preacher' would strap on guns to defend Cade when a killer whose brother Cade has killed, comes looking for him. Plus this isn't all of the unbelievable elements of this story! There are even more! I believe this book must have the silliest plot that I have ever read in a romance,LOL! I'm sure even a 'teen' would have a problem accepting this story. |
