Previously titled Ruse of Love

The tides of war have shifted. When all eyes turn south, Doctor Jonathan Corbett finds himself once more thrust into the war’s turmoil. On assignment from General Washington, the dashing doctor discovers his mission has taken him straight into a conflict where the British are not the only ones to be feared.

Rebekah Morse has no time to contemplate the exploding war around her. Caught up as a pawn in a deadly conspiracy, she finds her only hope lies with her old friend, but things have changed since they last saw each other.

Yet destiny has not intervened in their lives without cause. Rebekah’s strength, courage, and breathtaking sensuality set within Jonathan a desire he swore never to feel again. When Rebekah’s life is threatened, Jonathan is determined to save the stubborn woman whether she wants to be saved or not. Now Jonathan and Rebekah must face the perilous threat together—only to discover a passion they never imagined...

Praise for KISS OF DECEIT

"Kiss of Deceit weaves together a fine tapestry of romance and history. With intense emotion and passion the characters come alive on the page and engage you from the opening chapters. Author Jerri Hines has cleverly crafted her story around the war torn south with such rich detail it makes you feel as though you are right there in the midst of the American Revolution."

5.0 out of 5 stars Kept me Intrigued August 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I'll admit it, I like history so I have a tendency to read Regency romance. But, I was so intrigued with a romance set during the American Revolution that I couldn't wait to try it. After reading Ruse of Love, I can't wait to go back and read Patriot Secrets.
I loved the backdrop of the Revolution and how the author took us from the battlefields to the high society of the South. The story and mystery kept me guessing the whole time. Who was good? Who was bad? The characters were well developed and I felt for them during this chaotic time in history. The story wrapped up nicely and, since I don't want to spoil it, let's just say it was great!
If you like Kathleen Woodiwiss or are interested in the Revolution period, you will love this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars American Revolution Gem August 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
Ruse of Love really brings to life how difficult, dangerous, and gritty the American Revolution was. Set against that backdrop is a secret plot involving Rebekah. As a naive young girl of fifteen, she has a crush on Dr. Jonathan Corbett. Sadly, he has married another. When Rebekah's parents die, she's thrust into a difficult situation for the sake of her younger siblings. She tries to make the best of it in 'Charles Town,' with the help of her friends, but some mysterious person is intent on causing her harm. When she's kidnapped, she falls into the power of an attractive and deadly rogue, Black Rory. She loses her innocence, but not her goodness. How Rebekah ultimately finds love and happiness is an engaging journey.

I really enjoyed Ruse of Love. Hines creates very sympathetic characters in Rebekah, Jonathan, and even Black Rory. I wasn't sure who I was rooting for to win Rebakah's heart... Black Rory or Jonathan! I'd recommend this book for anyone with an interest in the American Revolution, the deep South, or romance literature.
