5.0 out of 5 stars spine-tingling rhythm with his fiery fretwork!
I first heard "La Serpiente" on this CD on a Bose Demo CD player with Bose Headphones and was hooked!! Couldn't stop foot tapping and finger snapping-felt like a Mexican jumping bean! I was already a fan of Otmar Liebert's flamenco music but "Kiss the Earth" brought me one step further into music heaven!! Once you listen to his music, you'll want to buy all of his CD's!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Kiss the Earth was a pleasant surprise!
Kiss the Earth combines the beauty of the guitar with the romance of the latin sound. There was not a song on the album that we didn't like. The music is relaxing, but not sleepy. A good album to add to a collection.

My first Nuevo Flamenco CD and it's AWESOME. Very upbeat and expressive. The CD is great to work to because it's soothing yet catchy. I caught my boss humming along with the CD while he was working...I own all of Johannes Linstead's CD's and still feel this is his best so far.

You must acquire this CD if you receive any enjoyment from Latino and/or guitar instrumental music. It is clearly one of the best.

My wife and I recently saw Johannes in concert and purchased Kiss The Earth after the show. The show was spectacular, with percussion, Flamenco and Latin dancing, and of course, Johannes' fiery guitar playing. We were pleased that that same energy and passion was present on the album as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars GOOD - BUT NOT HIS BEST, September 22, 2000
By A Customer

I would probably rate this CD much higher if I did not own his debut CD. I first discovered this artist by buying his debut CD "Sol, Luna, Tierra" after listening to it in a bookstore. I was so impressed with this style of music that I purchased at least one CD of practically all of the artists that play this type of music (Ottmar Liebert, Jesse Cook, Armik, Luis Villegas, Nova Menco, Lara & Reyes, Govi, Bendetti & Svoboda, etc.). Some of them are quite good, but Sol, Luna, Tierra still remains my favorite. Kiss the Earth is enjoyable to listen to, but it lacks the originality of Sol, Luna, Tierra. Each selection on that CD has its own unique style and character and they reach out and "grab" you. The selections on this CD seem to kind of fade together (with the exception of a few) and sound similar to other artists.

Although it depends on my mood, I think Kiss The Earth is Linstead's finest collection. Having been introduced to his music only a few weeks ago, I now own five of his CDs and they all represent money more than well spent. No other artist in my life has earned my full appreciation so quickly. The many moods and accompanying instruments are so varied that the subtleties gain more appreciation with each playing. They just get better and better.
Easy listening at its inimitable best for the guitar fan.

This CD was playing in a small shop in Galveston, TX. I couldn't stop myself from tapping my foot to the beat! Now it's a staple in my car.

There are some musicians that can play one note and make it sing. Johannes' sense of melodicism is very emotive, ranging from sublime to passionate. Each song has a uniqueness which keeps the album intriguing. The track "Ritmo De Amor" really gets the blood pumping and makes you want to put on your salsa shoes! I'm looking forward to the next one!
