5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Vampire Novels I Have Ever Read
While fleeing Nazis in prewar Berlin, two Americans (Richard Anderson and Rebecca Bittan) are invited to seek refuge in a Romanian castle owned by Countess Maria Viroslav and her husband, Count Alexander Viroslav. (The latter two are vampires.) Neither Richard nor Rebecca are ready for what will come next: a fierce double play of seduction to create two more vampires. And...

1.0 out of 5 stars not the usual vampire book
If you like vampire romance the traditional way such as writers like Amanda Ashley, Feehan, etc, you will not like this book. It starts out with a good story and then goes downhill from there, I skipped about 29 pages just to get through to the end. The way a vampire is turned is gross and ridiculous (males have to have (...) intercourse with other male vampires while...

And the count and countess certainly have no limits to how far they will go sexually. Homophobics beware.

I read "The Kiss" way back in high school ('96 or '97), and it's still one of my absolute favorites. If you like vampires, sex, and the 1930s, then I highly recommend you read this book. You won't be disappointed. Another good vampire book is "Dark Dance" by Tanith Lee, the first in its series, followed by two others: "Personal Darkness" and "Darkness, I".

4.0 out of 5 stars "Pure sex, pure erotica.", July 18, 1997

"If you love sex, this is a book you don't want
to miss! Pure sex, not one page goes by without
sexual acts or innuendos. I read this book in a
a day. Fast light read. Lesbianism, homosexuality
it's all here! More of a fantasy story, rather than
horror. Get's the juices flowing!"

It starts out with a good story and then goes downhill from there, I skipped about 29 pages just to get through to the end. The way a vampire is turned is gross and ridiculous (males have to have (...) intercourse with other male vampires while they are having (...)with a female vampire, and more) If you like vampire stories that have the male vampire falling in love and staying with his love and defending her, etc, DO NOT get this book. Its trash.

5.0 out of 5 stars WHOA!!! MUST READ for any Vampire fan...., October 2, 2010

Where to begin with this book? I first heard about it oddly enough on the Wikipedia page for Vampire Literature and felt drawn to read this book, although there wasn't a description or even a link for more info. I decided Googling the author/book might shed more light on this hard to find book that isn't even that old (1996) however still couldn't find anything on it. Luckily I found a copy in very good condition that I bought right away!

I read the book in a matter of hours, literally started it after work (6pm'ish) and finished sometime after eleven pm. I literally didn't put the book down for ANYTHING. It was well written, the plot was great and quite intriguing! But the ending, it's not what I saw coming at all, I was completely thrown off; and although unexpected, looking back on it, it makes perfect sense and is understandable.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND buying this book whether your a fan of Vampire books, or a great romance novel!

1.0 out of 5 stars Not your average Vampire story, August 10, 2003
This review is from: The Kiss (Paperback)
I enjoyed this story. I was impressed by the uniqueness of it. There were several things that were different about it compared to other Vampire storys-The way a Vampire is turned, the process they go through ,ect.
It was an interesting variation from the genre. It makes you want to keep reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars horrifically sexy read, enticing, June 1, 2003
This review is from: The Kiss (Paperback)
this book was full of sex, suspense, and action. It was also a very sad story, especially when maria loses her true love, gregor. Some parts of the story can be a bit boring, especially the part of rebecca's former lover eric chases her through Romania to find her. However, the plot still stays fast-paced and alive, so it's a good read, and makes up for it. It's also good that the author made this take place in Romania, the same place where bram stoker's dracula takes place. We get to learn a lot about the nazis and vampires beacuse it's in the same place where the greatest of horror stories and vampire stories ever became published, so it's good it took place in romania. I learned that the drinking of human blood isn't purely evil, but it's a way for the undead to express their love in allusion to sexuality. Lastly, the ending is a bit elusive and ambiguous, so you're left for yourself to decide what happens at the very end. An evasive ending can be more enticing and the mysteriousness can be illuminating. Overall, an excellant, darkly gruesome, wonderfully sexy read!

It drives U insane with lustful inquiries and steals the moment U R hidin in it. The imagination creates this wonderful masterpiece. It would make a great Movie, if only The movies were worthy of such seducing roles to make it as good as the book. I can't wait to read it again.
