Word of warning this DVD only has 4 songs on it, you can watch those 4 song different ways like that is some special bonus. This is not a full concert. The one bonus is on a tribute band, has to be the worse shot stuff I've ever seen.

3.0 out of 5 stars A "KISS" Off..., April 13, 2002

I'm only a small step away from saying this was a waste of money. For starters, the Las Vegas concert seemed incredibly short (only 4 songs; there had to be more than that!), and much of the time, the audio track didn't match the video; not that it was sequenced badly, but with the exception of the band introduction and the banter with the audience in between songs, which were obviously live, it's like the music was culled from a totally different concert, or was touched up after the fact. Examples: watch closely and you'll see things in spots like Paul Stanley visibly singing into his mike and no vocals are heard; cymbal crashes on the drum track and Peter Criss is not even hitting the cymbals; explosion sounds happen nearly 3 seconds after the pyrotechnics were set off, etc.

On the upside, the video quality is great, with a "multicam" presentation available, showing the concert in 4 different camera angles; and the 5.1 surround sound is good (but again, is the music actually from the Vegas show? I have my doubts). There are an abundance of bonus materials here (which is why I gave this 3 stars; otherwise it would've gotten only 2), some interviews that were from the "Revenge"-era with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer. The high point of the bonus materials is the concert footage of KISS-tribute band "Larger Than Life", who did a great job visually and musically; however, their excellent performance suffered greatly from the amateurish camera work and the murky, distorted sound.

Hardcore KISS fans will probably enjoy this, but more so for the bonus materials rather than the actual concert. If you're expecting a full-length show, you're in for a big letdown, because it ain't happening.

This DVD is bad!
Only 4 songs....Don't need to be a musician to see that the image don't work with the sound, But it is not a real Kiss Production

1.0 out of 5 stars KISS...RIPP OFF IN LAS VEGAS, April 4, 2002

Well I was hoping for an entire farewell tour show. Something to remember that night when I saw KISS on their farewell tour. INSTEAD i get this four song piece of [trash]. With all these quotes from Paul & Gene about how they owe everything to their fans and the farewell tour was to show their gratitude. Well I guess this video was to makeup for all that sentiment and royally ... anyone who buys it. I hope I can get a decent trade in for it at my local used CD store. I've seen bootlegs that are higer quality than this. The packaging is totally deceptive. THIS IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars A Kiss home release with a fitting title., April 24, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Kiss - Live in Las Vegas (DVD)
"Live In Las Vegas - The unseen concert" is exactly that. The back of the DVD package reads "Kiss: Live In Las Vegas gives fans a chance to finally see the concert the fate denied them the first time around. This high-energy performance features some of their biggest hits and proves that they can indeed live up to the claim - You Wanted The Best, You Got The Best!!!!!!"

I picked this up right away hoping to sit back and enjoy a concert from my favorite band. Unfortunately, the concert consists of only four songs - "Shout It Out Loud", "Love Gun", God Of Thunder", and "Rock and Roll All Night". I would not consider that a concert by any means. A performance is more like it. Yeah, Kiss can pack the energy, power, excitement, and performance of most bands full concert in only four songs, but when you think you're getting a "concert" from these guys, only four songs is a major disappointment.

I realize now this was originally an internet performance of only four songs, but that should have been stated for those unaware of that fact. It should also NOT have been labeled a "Concert" but rather an "Internet Performance".

Their set kicks off with "Shout It Out Loud" which does not have the energy musically that I have seen from these guys in the past. The visual footage is great, but the tempo is a little slow. "Love Gun" is the high point and rocks as it always does. "God of Thunder" comes without Gene spitting blood or flying. It does have plenty of fire and it rocks hard with Gene's vocals given a demonic sound later in the song. "Rock and Roll All Night" is a little slow tempo wise too, but comes off with all the expected splendor. You get the fireworks going off all over, Ace's pinwheel fireworks on his guitar, plus lots and lots of confetti.

Overall the four songs are good. It's just not enough. They give you a "Directors Cut" and a "Multicam" version of the set. The "Mulitcam" version is cool. One problem I really had with the performance was the very cheesy "canned applause" that were thrown in throughout the set. It was like watching some corny show that adds the "canned laughter" where they want you to laugh. A very poor audio editing choice here.

The "Bonus Material" makes up about 75% of the DVD. The bonus features are; 1. Kiss Army - 2. Gene and Paul at Tower Records - 3. Interview with Larger Than Life - 4. Tribute Band "Larger Than Life" performance at the Key Club - 5. Farewell Tour Interview with the Band - 6. Gene and Paul Rock Walk Induction - 7. Peter Criss Rock Walk Induction - 8. Ace Frehley Rock Walk Induction - 9. Hollywood Walk of Fame Induction - 10. Detroit Rock City Premiere.

Most of this footage has been released before on fan released videos such as "Unauthorized". Some of the footage is very amateur but viewable. If you have not seen the bonus footage on previous releases, it makes for good viewing except for the "Detroit Rock City Premiere" footage which you can not hear what the band members are saying throughout most of it.

I was impressed musically with the tribute band "Larger Than Life" (from Northern California). They sounded great and their "Paul" was dead on for Paul's vocals. Looks wise their costumes are great, but their facial appearance was not much of a resemblance other than the fact that they were wearing the make-up. There is quite a bit of footage of these guys performing (as much or more than Kiss' performance footage).

In all, the DVD makes for good watching and is a must have for any Kiss Collection. The title is very misleading. If you know this before you pick this one up, you won't be as disappointed as I was at first. Then again, this was released by Pixelon.com Inc. and not Kiss so, being misleading in order to cash in on the Kiss name could be expected.

With any luck Kiss will release a full DVD concert in the future and maybe even some more old rare footage packages. They have plenty of it. Until then look for the bootleg items to add to your collection.

OK, so it's no secret that Kiss would bottle their own breath if they thought it would sell. That said; there's really no excuse that would allow any band of conscience to market something of such dubious quality. I wish it were possible to still think of Kiss as the cartoonish yet still awe-inspiring quartet they once were. Now that they have replaced 2 original members with imposters in effect and admitted (at least Gene has)that money, not the music, is the driving force behind Kiss, well they just come off as manipulative and sad. I'm giving up my commission in the Kiss Army.

I wanted to give this no stars but Amazon.com will not let me! Let me first say that this is not a KISS DVD. ... I bought this DVD hoping for the best but man was I wrong. I took my complaint all the way to KISS themselves and I was pleasantly suprised to find them on my side. KISS had nothing to do with the release of this DVD. They tried to block the sale of it but could not. Just pass this one up and wait for the new Alive IV: KISS Symphony. The CD Rocks and so should the DVD.

1.0 out of 5 stars I Passed Up Tina Turner For This?, April 26, 2005
By

This review is from: Kiss - Live in Las Vegas (DVD)
While shopping at the mall earlier today, I found two dvds that interested me. One was this dvd "Kiss Live In Las Vegas" and the other was "Tina Turner - All The Best Live". I considered what to buy for a few minutes (I was on a pretty tight budget) and I decided get the Kiss dvd. Boy, did I make a big mistake.

This Kiss dvd is supposed to be the concert that was to broadcast over the internet in 1999 but wasn't due to various technical problems. Judging from this hackjob of a performance, it should have been left alone.

What you get is four (I repeat four) below average performances of the Kiss standards "Shout It Out Loud", "Love Gun" (which I loathe), "God Of Thunder" and "Rock And Roll All Nite". That's it. Oh yeah, and you can watch it with two different camera angles. Wow!

If they wanted to make this a great concert, here's what I would have wanted the setlist to be:

"Strutter"

"Deuce"

"I Love It Loud"

"Calling Dr. Love"

"Beth"

"Christine Sixteen"

"I Was Made For Lovin' You"

"Heaven's On Fire"

"Detroit Rock City"

"A World Without Heroes"

"I Stole Your Love"

"Hard Luck Woman"

"Shout It Out Loud"

"Lick It Up"

"Forever"

"Rock And Roll All Nite"

"God Gave Rock And Roll To You II"

But I guess we are stuck with this insipid crap. I'm still a huge Kiss fan, but my experiece has definitely been jaded.

Ok Kiss releases more greatest hits albums than most bands ever hope to make new albums and they all have the same songs but why on earth is it necessary to make a dvd with 4 songs. Kiss isn't that low on monjey that they need to rip us off with junk dvds but they seem to find it entertaining to rip off there fans/ I really like Kiss but who needs a dvd with 4 songs that are put on everything Kiss does lately. I wouldn't even recommend this to a die-hard fan this is just a rip-off.
