About the Author

"An author who knows the true meaning of romance," wrote one reviewer of award winning romance novelist Marlene Suson.

Two of her novels have won RT Reviewers' Choice Awards as the best book of the year in their category, and she has been nominated a number of other times. She was also a finalist for the romance Writers of America's prestigious RITA Award.

She likes to write romance because it celebrates love and commitment, not violence and mayhem.

Ms. Suson was a successful journalist, working for a wire service, a television network, and a major metropolitan newspaper before she turned to writing fiction. She lives in Southern California where the newest addition to her family is Rambo, a fearless Maltese puppy who, despite his small size, lives up to his name.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good story, April 6, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Kiss Me Goodnight (Mass Market Paperback)
When his son dies, Shane Howard, a half Irish and half English aristocrat, decides it is time to visit his Irish roots in an attempt to understand the conflict. When he arrives in Ireland, he hides the fact that he is the Marquess of Sherbourne, an absentee landlord despised by his tenants as "His Devilship".

When Shane meets widow Kathleen McNamara and her young daughter, he finds himself wanting to make both of them a part of his life. Kathleen reciprocates his feelings even though she knows that he is a close associate of the hated Marquess, who she believes murdered her deceased spouse. Shane quickly learns that his tenants have been mistreated because of his neglect of them. He begins to correct the problems. However, he also realizes that he loves Kathleen for her feisty independence, but is terrorized by the fact that same spirit will end their relationship once she uncovers the truth about his identity.

Award winning Marlene Suson displays why she is one of the most popular historical romance novelists of the nineties with her newest work, KISS ME GOODNIGHT. Readers will enjoy the crisp story line and the secondary players that bring alive the eighteenth century conflict between the plight of the Irish under English rule (think of Swift's A MODEST PROPOSAL without the irony). However, it is the passionate romance between Kathleen and Shane that sits on the fence between total happiness and total misery until the very end that turns this novel into an impressive reading experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my very most favorite romance books ever, January 7, 2006
By
This review is from: Kiss Me Goodnight (Mass Market Paperback)
There are not very many romance books that I consider to be outstanding, like on the 1-10 scale, off the scale at a 12 or 15,
but this book is most definitely in that catagory.

If you love a hero who is a real man, not a man who feels sorry for himself (like Derek Craven in "Dreaming of You" by Lisa Kleypas), then this book is for you.

Shane is totally, and I do mean TOTALLY awesome!!! He is one of my very favorite heroes ever, right up there with Rafe Bancroft in "Taming Rafe" by Suzanne Enoch and Andrew Stanton in "Love & the Single Heiress" by Jacquie D'Alessandro.

And, I loved the little girl in this book. It's been awhile since I've read it, I think her name is Bridget. She is great!
She, along with Shane, helped make it a tender & fun read.

I loved how Shane dealt with what was going on on his estate in Ireland, even though it took him most of the book before he finally knew the whole story & took action against the bad guy.

I wish Marlene Suson was still writing books. I've read 5 of hers now, this one, plus The Lady & The Hawk, plus the 3 in the
Midnight series.

If I could only take 1/2 dozen or so books to a desert island, this book would be among those going with me. If there were a fire & I could only grab a few, this would definitely be one of them!

1-10 scale: 10+++ (For me, about a 12 at least).
