5.0 out of 5 stars Funny, hot, but also a heart of gold, January 31, 2004
This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book! Kimberly Raye makes you care about her characters and makes unusual situations like the heroine having a mother who is a TV sex therapist absolutely believable. For sheer fun and entertainment, Kiss Me Once is hard to beat. But what appealed to me the most was the solid gold heart of this novel--really interesting insights about what creates the best foundation for a long-term relationship. Is it really sex? Or values? or Common interests? Wild animal attraction? Love and caring? Between the covers of this sexy little romp, little ahas about how relationships grow between men and women, how we figure out what we really want out of life, and how love changes us are carefully woven into the story. Trust me, you'll laugh, you'll get turned on, you'll fall for this hero, and you'll walk away thinking about what means the most to you in a relationship.

The story is interesting. A mother raising daughters with a different outlook towards men. Reality that everyone has been raised one way and reality of life can be another. Good to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice, February 21, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Skye Farrel, owner of Girl Talk, discusses sex for a living. Women flock to her seminars to learn ways to improve their sex lives. But Skye knows that being an expert on sex does not guarantee a hot and spicy love life.

Clint MacAllister, NASCAR's hottest star, is ready to settle down. Unfortunately Clint isn't having much success in the marriage mart. When he meets Skye, he sees an opportunity to solve both of their problems. He can benefit from Skye's sex tips and she needs Clint's help understanding the male psyche.

As their lessons progress, the sexual tension builds. Commitment phobic Skye is reconsidering her previous held notions of marriage and relationships. And marriage minded Clint is beginning to see that following his heart is all that matters when it comes to love.

I had a ball reading Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice! Clint and Skye's private
lessons were both laugh-out-loud funny and very sensual. Clint, is not just a hunk, he excels at his career and that is so very sexy. Skye is strong and independent. Her conquering the programming of her TV remote endeared her to me. I especially loved and related to Skye's cookie addiction.

The supporting characters were well developed and added a lot to the humor of the story. The secondary romances were a fun addition to the plot as well. Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice is an amusing and sexy love story that fans of contemporary romance are sure to love.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good entertainment!, November 6, 2006
This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
I really liked this book. It makes the perfect reading material for a day at the beach.
True, the characters are a bit surreal, Skye a sex ed teacher and Clint a NASCAR driver who give each other lessons of their specialties in life. However the story behind the major plot-line really makes you think about the values in life and about what makes a good relationship:

Is it shared interests, mutual respect, great sex, or better yet, a healthy balance of all of the mentioned above? This book will keep you thinking above and beyond the story of Skye and Clint, and encourages you to review your own ideals about sex, marriage and relationships.

I can't wait to get even more inspired by reading the stories about Skye's sisters in the author's other two books.

'Kiss me Once, Kiss me Twice' by Kimberly Raye is the first in a trilogy of novels about the Farrel sisters. Skye Farrel owns the business `Girl Talk' a company that gives seminars on sexual fulfillment. Clint MacAlister is sexy NASCAR owner/ex-driver who meets Skye at a wedding and trades their services. Clint will teach Skye all about sports and men and Skye will teach him to please a women. `Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice' , `Sweet as Sugar, Hot as Spice' are the next in the series. I am off to read more from this author.

I read Sweet as Sugar, Hot As Spice first (third book in the trilogy) and couldn't wait to go back and read the other two. I wasn't disappointed. Skye was so funny and Clint was the sexiest Nascar driver I've ever read about. Don't miss this book!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and quirky romance, October 23, 2006

This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
Skye Farrel makes her living as a quasi-sex instructor. Host of "Girl Talk," a series of seminars designed to help women get the most out of sex; she is unfortunately experiencing a dry spell. Her mother is a famous sexologist who advocates women taking control of their lives and shuns marriage for her and her three daughters. Mom has only recently started to refer to their father as her partner as opposed to "the man who gives me orgasms," so you can sort of guess where Skye's own hang-ups about marriage originate.

When Skye gets caught up in wedding purgatory as a bridesmaid, one accident leads to another and she makes a fool of herself in front of NASCAR bad boy Clint MacAllister (their initial meeting is hysterical). He originally thinks she's a track bunny. Somehow in a drunken stupor, she admitted her lack of "man-knowledge" and he wants to become a better lover so that the PR director at Daytona will accept his proposal for marriage. So basically they have an exchange of lessons; lessons that always seem to get a little too heated. As the two continue their instruction and try not to mean anything to each other, and question each other's real motivations, they get closer than they ever realize they wanted. Can a marriage and baby-minded good old boy and a feminist find true love?

Raye always pens tongue in cheek romances filled with innuendo and quirky characters. This one excels on all fronts. Followed up with "Sometimes Naughty, Sometimes Nice" featuring youngest daughter and adult novelty maker Xandra and "Sweet as Sugar, Hot as Spice" featuring middle daughter and adult film producer Eve.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sexy and hysterical!, January 28, 2004

This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
I like Kimberly Raye, so I figured I would like this book. No way was I prepared to laugh my head off! It was great. Super sexy and so funny, but emotional, as well. I fell in love with Clint. He was such a strong guy, but at the same time he came across as very real. I liked the book so much that it made me want to tune into a Nascar race. If only all the drivers were half as hot as Clint MacAllister! Skye is funny and sweet and I totally related to her. I didn't think I would because her profession is so far out, but she's like any of us girls--insecure and very real with hopes and dreams. I can't wait to read about her two sisters!

5.0 out of 5 stars HEAT AND HUMOR, February 5, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
I love a romance with a sexy premise that really delivers the heat. And what could be sexier than a heroine whose mission is to teach women how to reach their sensual potential? Add a hot hero, and the pages sizzle. The humor in Ms. Raye's novel is the proverbial cherry-on-top. Skye and Clint are compelling main characters, and I just know that Skye's two sisters will have to have their own stories.

4.0 out of 5 stars tongue in cheek look at the gender wars, February 2, 2004
This review is from: Kiss Me Once, Kiss Me Twice (Mass Market Paperback)
Skye Farrel grew up with her two younger sisters in a household in which the topic sex was not hidden as their mother led the social revolution that women do not need a man to be complete. Their mother has never married their father though they have been together for over three decades. Thus it is not shocking to find Skye providing sex seminars starring Dinah the Vagina and a rubber penis.

Skye agrees to be the maid of honor at her assistant's wedding though she herself does not believe in the institution. At the affair she meets retired NASCAR hunk, Clint MacAllister. Though he believes that Skye is after his banana, he rejects her because he plans to marry someone else. However, as Skye and Clint become more familiar with one another both reconsider their previous positions and now they want his banana and her cherry married, but must persuade the other that their respective fruit is passion.

Though the number of puns, innuendos and double entendres would make Piers Anthony take notice, fans of amusing contemporary romances will appreciate this tongue in cheek look at the gender wars. The story line never takes itself seriously regardless of who plays top banana at the moment. The lead protagonists are a fun duet rejecting the idea of either marriage or marriage with one another although love enters the dysfunctional relationship. KISS ME ONCE, KISS ME TWICE provides an offbeat look at sex, love, and marriage. And hopefully will have sequels including a flashback to the parents' tale staring in the 1960s (let's see the rocket ship and the moon as phallic symbols?).
