I first heard Jo Davidson in a bar in New York about 2 years ago. Drunk as I was at the time her music touched me enough to make me buy her CD (then called 'Fragile Tough Girl'). The songs are reminiscent of Aimee Mann mixed with a little Heather Nova. Simple, fragile, moving. It's worth buying the album for 'Mental Pollution' alone. That song is amazing ...

Diverse Songstress--If you love "different", this is it!!, August 15, 2001

I absolutely loved this CD from the moment I heard it all the way through. I think Jo speaks from her heart and life experiences. The things that she (all of us?) has experienced in her life are stories that are told in her songs. I love to 'discover' new music and to pass it along to friends who enjoy it, as well. This is one CD that I will be passing along to many people. I recommend it highly.

Every once in a while you trip across an artist or a song that simply stands above the expected. That is found in Jo Davidson's title cut of her debut album "Kiss Me There".
If you hear in her music echoes of Alanis Morrisette, Goo Goo Dolls, and even Fleetwood Mac, it is because this artist has surrounded herself with those producers who contribute to these popular groups.
The one downside of this album is that most people will not have heard of either Jo Davidson or her exquisite title track. The responsibility for that dismal failure clearly falls on EAR (Edel America Records), now Edel Entertainment, who didn't have either the foresight or resources to promote this catchy, lyrical, and endearing single to its rightful place on Billboard's Top 40. This is an artist to watch, because when she finds the combination of tune and timing, you will be able to say; "I knew her when..."
