5.0 out of 5 stars Dr. George R. Abraham, February 28, 2009
This review is from: Kiss Your Resume Goodbye (Paperback)
Ronald Evans' book is a winner for three reasons: the topic is pertinent today, his approach is not cookie cutter on resumes and job searhes, and his style is instrutional and easy to read. I love the book's print. I am planning to have him on my radio talk show to share his weath of information to those who are looking for jobs, and struggling to build the networks which Evans recommends. Check out the PVP principle--very pertinent.

This review is from: Kiss Your Resume Goodbye (Paperback)
Mr. Evans succinctly analyzes why it is that executives who have been "masters of the universe" in their previous professional lives turn into directionless, unfocused & frustrated managers of their own job search. Most job searchers describe the process to be like fishing ... put out a million lines and you're bound to get a bite. Mr. Evans explains how this is vastly inefficient and he concisely describes a better way to search by applying prinicples of world-class consumer marketing (targeted marketing of a unique value proposition). He describes both how to target, and how to define your own value proposition. He then goes beyond to explain what to do with these tools in order to land a job at which you'll have a high liklihood of succeeding ... and he does all of this in just 114 pages. I found this book to be most helpful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Strategic Job Search, June 17, 2008
This review is from: Kiss Your Resume Goodbye (Paperback)
In this book, Ronald Evans reveals what top career professionals know; that sending out lots of resumes like confetti, desperately hoping one lands in the right place, is not the way to manage your career. Evans likens hiring to a buying decision, based on perceived value. As the seller, the individual must define their value proposition. Then, they must determine who the buyers (employers) are that need what they have to offer. The next step is to determine the right approach, which is NOT sending a resume. Evans does a wonderful job of working through what he calls the "Six Rules that Rule the Job Market". The result is an approach marked by purpose rather than panic, tactical rather than fearful.

If you are looking for a more strategic and effective way to market yourself, I highly recommend this book.
