Book Description

Susan and her friends must prepare for their most important battle with the vampire Richelieu, but they find themselves divided. Wendy has been kidnapped by a centuries-old enemy of her ancestor, Carissa. While they search frantically to save her, a greater danger threatens as Richelieu's army of vampires and humans fills the crevices of Europe. Susan learns the rest of the ill-fated romance between Carissa and the formidable vampire Gabriel of centuries ago and soon realizes that history is repeating. But it is the secret of the cross that might save them all if she can discover it in time.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"Breathless tension coats Raphael and Susan's interactions with a right-on-the-edge-of-passion thrill....I am eerily hooked....It's a thought-provoking read that, like Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, may cause readers to question their definition of a monster." (USA Today on Kiss of Night)

"Viguié finishes her entrancing Kiss trilogy with a complicated ride through time that answers the many questions this intense paranormal adventure presents to readers.... Enthralling to the very end, this passionate tale of redemption, loyalty and love is a rare treat." (RT Book Reviews)

"Both paranormal and inspy romance readers will be captured by the new twists in this exciting novel and will be looking forward to the final title to be released in 2013." (Serena Chase, USAToday.com on Kiss of Death)

"The premise is provocative: can a vampire be redeemed?... hordes of vampire fans who, after their introduction to the vampire Raphael, will clamor for book two and the movie adaptation that must star Johnny Depp." (Publisher's Weekly on Kiss of Night)

"This compelling romantic adventure takes place across centuries and throughout Europe as humans and vampires work together believably, strengthening each other's faith as they struggle with questions of redemption and loyalty. The action is fast, furious and violent, interspersed with fascinating diary entries that are slowly revealed as the cousins translate pages, creating a rising excitement that doesn't stop when the book ends." (RT Book Reviews, ****1/2 on Kiss of Night)

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfying End to the Trilogy November 5, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback
This book is a fairly satisfying conclusion of the trilogy. Though, is it actually the conclusion? I understood going in that it is the end of the story, yet there are allusions to a continuation by a couple of the characters at the end. It really should be the end of the story. The characters who make references to continuing on are some of the least developed and least interesting; I do not think another story focused on them would be very interesting at all. I would much rather follow Gabriel and Paul in the future.

Consistent with the previous two installments, the most interesting parts are the flashback episodes to the story of Carissa and Fleur, cousins and ancestors of present-day cousins Susan and Wendy. You finally find out what makes that cross necklace so darn interesting and powerful, why Raphael and Gabriel are at such odds, and what finally happened to Carissa (though that revelation was anti-climactic, in my opinion). A couple of other twists are revealed as well, but I was left again with the distinct impression that all the present-day humans were just flat and uninteresting. I really didn't feel connected to them at all, and their love for their respective significant others just didn't seem authentic.

The plot was a bit hard to follow, mostly because there were so many different lines and because it kept jumping back and forth in time. By the end, the whole Richelieu plot line seemed superfluous, and I wondered if it might not have been a better book if he hadn't even been a part of it. I still never figured out what exactly would happen if his plan had succeeded.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well-plotted, Electrifying twists and turns! November 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Richelieu is back, looking for an artifact containing the blood of Christ. With that in his possession, he thinks he can become like the Son of God, and overtake the world. The good vampires; Raphael and Gabriel, aided by humans Susan, Wendy, and David;must find Richelieu and stop him before that can happen. If they can just interpret Susan and Wendy's ancestor, Carissa's, diary, fast enough, they may have the answers they need to save themselves and the world. Much blood, much romance, much stealth, much unexpected surprises!

Loved finding out more about Gabriel and Carissa's romance. Need another book, as others said, to tell more about Susan and Raphael. (And yes, they are the focus of another book, but we just need more!) How about it, Debbie? We're thirsty for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kiss of Revenge November 2, 2013

I debated about reading this series, because it was about Vampires and I wondered how can a Vampire story be Christian Fiction; but I was in for a surprise.

Kiss is so amazing and wonderful that I did not want it to end and hope that Debbie will consider writing a story with more focus on Susan and Raphael.

I really thought this story was more about Gabriel and Carissa, which did not take away from the story but added more to the the story. I love the characters, especially Paul. Paul needs a story too.

Debbie, thank you for this series and please consider writing more about the characters I mentioned.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not too bad. December 22, 2013

Though it brought everything to a full circle and secrets were laid to rest, I feel that the final battle lacked and was over far too quickly and easily with all that had happened.Despite that it was still an enjoyable read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Love this series. November 26, 2013
Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I love this series. I have not read this final one yet, but I read the first two and I absolutely loved them. I wasn't sure that I would when I read the back, but I decided to give it a chance and it turned out to be one of the best books I've read in a long while. I love that the author was able to mix the supernatural world with the religious world. While I was reading the first two I found that I was unable to stop reading. Every time that I meant to put them down I couldn't, I just had to continue to see what happened next. I would definitely encourage anybody who enjoys a good book, especially a supernatural romance, to buy and read this book. IT IS TOTALLY WORH IT!

2.0 out of 5 stars High hopes....left disappointed January 28, 2015

Format:Mass Market Paperback|Verified Purchase
I was captured by the first book and was really looking forward to seeing relationships and the story develop in book 2. However I felt Kiss of Death was drawn out and held very little about the development in Raphael and Susan's relationship. Though Gabriel and Carissa's story was interesting with some facts that linked all the characters together, for me it held little relevance in the overall problem this series portrayed which was Richelieu coming to power. I read through Kiss of Revenge quickly hoping it would pull everything together. It did pull everything together in a very anticlimactic way. First let down was Gabriel and Carissa got married and then boom she died of old age. Long story abruptly ended with little explanation as to what their life was like after getting married. Second let down was Pierre's whole tie into the story, he accuses Carissa and drops her in the prison where she meets Gabriel, gets turned into a vampire, and centuries later gives some information to Susan, blah blah blah, boom stake in the heart and he's dead. He seemed to play a big part in all 3 books with little relevance in anything in the story other than being the how Carissa and Gabriel met and how Susan's grandmother got the necklace years later. He seemed to be a character whose story was drawn out and had little to do with the overall problem of hunting down Richelieu. Third let down was the lack of evidence in development in Raphael and Susan's relationship. Most of their time was spent apart. Either one of them getting captured or searching for Richelieu or saving the other, but hardly were they ever together and "getting to know" each other that would result in falling in love like Gabriel and Carissa.
