Editorial Reviews

2009 album from the teen sensation and star of the Disney Channel's Wizards Of Waverly Place. As a teen spokesperson for UNICEF, Selena has also become the youngest ambassador in the history of the UNICEF organization. Features the single 'Falling Down'.

It's an upbeat CD (except for the ballad "The Way You Loved Me") and fun to listen to. Jessica  |  8 reviewers made a similar statement

4.0 out of 5 stars Selena Gomez Shines on This Album November 4, 2009
Format:Audio CD
What can I say? Selena Gomez is amazing, and is a great role model. I think this album could have been better, but there is a batch of songs on this album that are very catchy, she does it well. Her voice isn't as powerful as her best friend, Demi, but Selena still shines well. Demi, and Selena's music is different from each others. I think they should do an album together. I can't wait for both of them to put out a new album, maybe next year? I sure hope so. I think you should at least check out this album, this album isn't terrible, but I would have left a few songs of this album, not saying which ones, because I have respect, for the ones who like the songs on this album that I don't. The stand out songs on this album are:
1. Falling Down
2. The Way I Loved You
3. Tell Me Something I Don't Know
I know I give this album four stars, but there is a lot of songs I can listen to over, and over again, and not get tired of them, but this is still one of my favorite albums of 2009, Just because I give this album four stars doesn't mean that this album isn't one of my favorite albums of the year. I think Selena is a great person, you should at least give her a chance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Takes Me Back October 25, 2009
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is a fun, upbeat album. Just about every song will take 80's kids like myself back to their childhood, which is probably part of the idea. If you liked the Go-Gos back in the day, you will also like this album.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun Album for Kids July 19, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Selena Gomez's debut album is mostly upbeat and happy music, something kids can dance and sing along to. The only slow track is "The Way I Loved You." For a debut album, this one meets expectations. She is a rising Disney star and this album is aimed at kids. So no, none of the songs have a lot of "substance" in them. Her voice is rather strong and she will definitely delight little kids as their next favorite artist. The lyrics booklet (one of the reasons I prefer physical CDs) is also well made, packed with colorful photos.

Overall, the album is a fresh start in the music industry, but is not award-winning material. For kids who want to have a great time, this album is perfect for them. For anyone else looking for deep, meaningful music, I suggest to look elsewhere.

4.0 out of 5 stars okay album, but few great songs. October 16, 2009
Format:Audio CD
This album is filled with fun and energetic songs, which I love, but I found myself loving only three songs out of the whole album. I love: "Naturally," "Falling Down," and "I Don't Miss You At All." Selena has a beautiful and unique voice.

Overall, Selena's songs in the "Kiss & Tell" album has an 80's sound to it, which is awesome. An example would be to listen to "I Wont Apologize." I love Selena Gomez, but I only found three great songs for my taste on this album. Good thing you can listen to the samples before you buy. :)

4.0 out of 5 stars Great debut for Selena Gomez & The Scene September 8, 2011
Format:Audio CD
I bought this album last year in August, because I wanted to see if Selena Gomez & The Scene's music was so great like people said, and seems they were right, this album is very good and I like listening to it. This is not their best effort, if you want to try even better music by them, try their more recent efforts like A Year Without Rain or When The Sun Goes Down. Now onto this album, it's not their best album, but it's definitely great for what it's supposed to be, a debut album.

Songs review:

1. Kiss & Tell: 10/10 This is a great song to start the album, it could have been a better lead single than Falling Down, but well...

2. I Won't Apologize: 9/10 The first song on which Selena has collaborated writing, and the only one she co-wrote on the album, is a cute song, about her ex Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers, but is not as great as the other songs on the album.

3. Falling Down: 9.5/10 I like this song a lot, this is the album's lead single. As I've said previously, the title track could have been a better lead single, but this song still works.

4. I Promise You: 8.5/10 I remember when I first heard this song I just loved it, but now I think it's just ok, cute song but after listening to more recent songs like this I think this is a good effort but not the best.

5. Crush: 10/10 I have to admit that this song is addictive, I love the beats.

6. Naturally: 10/10 The album's second single and the song that definitely marked the band's career and deserves automatically a 10/10, it sounds very mysterious and is the sound Selena chose to use in her following albums with The Scene.

4.0 out of 5 stars There are worse ways to pass 45 minutes September 1, 2010
Format:Audio CD
I had briefly heard naturally and saw this for Ł3. For Ł3 if I didn't like it, it wasn't the end of the world.

Actually I liked it. As embarrassing as it is to admit I am 21, this album is a serious guilty pleasure. Whereas some albums can be a struggle to listen too all the way through, this wasn't. It grew on me quickly and I like every song to near enough the same extent.

The only one I might skip occasionally is 'As a Blonde.'

The running time is just long enough and it doesn't bore me half way through. The songs are catchy and the album doesn't take itself too seriously. Ok, so not the best or most artistically progressive album in the world by any means but I've brought many a worse album for alot more money.

This album doesn't claim to be anything it's not. It isn't going to change the face of music. If you are expecting a serious album, then look elsewhere. You won't be getting an album of the Beatles standard, but you will get an album of half-decent pop songs.

Give it a go. I'm not a Wizards of Waverley place fan but I didn't let her Disney stardom turn me off. I'm glad it didn't. Whilst some people would be embarrassed to have this in their CD collection, I'm not. Already pre-ordered album number 2 and I'm looking forward to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than just a Disney star releasing an album

4.0 out of 5 stars A light, pop rock sometimes dance-y album. Thumbs up!
Many of these tracks are a lot of fun and there is only a few filler ones. I generally like the pop rock tracks more because of the guitars and drums but some of the dancier stuff... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good album
I quite enjoyed the songs which have an upbeat tune to it. I wish that she would have more music like this rather than what is being made now.

Why???
People are talking about industry, autotune, blah, blah. What if it's just music and you just enjoy it . . . better, blah, don't care. :p It's about how you like the music. People put too much crap in with judging music. :p Don't judge people for just happening to enjoy music that you don't.
