3.0 out of 5 stars Too Brief, 200 Pages With The Pictures . Where Was The Depth?
First, why would'nt Gene Simmons be in the book? He has been the focal point of her life for at least half of it. For those who like pictures, this book will please you. I like an autobiography that gives more details & the individuals deepest held beiefs. There simply was not enough of that here. 3.0 out of 5 stars Too Brief, 200 Pages With The Pictures . Where Was The Depth?, February 10, 2008
This review is from: Kiss and Tell (Paperback)
First, why would'nt Gene Simmons be in the book? He has been the focal point of her life for at least half of it. For those who like pictures, this book will please you. I like an autobiography that gives more details & the individuals deepest held beiefs. There simply was not enough of that here. But, this autobiography does give some clear insights into the Canadian born playmates upbringing in Newfoundland, her later career in B movies, the Playboy experience, & her life with Kiss star Gene Simmons.

On the positive side her meeting the latter at the Playboy mansion clearly changed her life for the better. She stopped abusing drugs & alcohol for him. He basically is a good guy who deserves credit for saving her life. But, if you want to see the deeper interaction & dynamics of their relationship with each other & their two kids, you should watch their show "Family Jewels."

The reason I bought this book is because I like biographies, and because of the gorgeous Andrew Stevens, I had seen some of Shannon's movies. I am not a big fan of Kiss and couldn't understand why a lot of reviewers have mentioned Gene Simmons so much because the book is meant to really be about her. It is inevitable to mention him because he is such a feature of the book because they've been together for such a long time.
She begins as most biographers can do; by talking about her childhood. She was born in Canada and she did modeling and of course one thing led to another and she found herself in Los Angeles and ended up at the Playboy mansion. At a party she met Gene Simmons and the rest is history.
Her life may not be as fascinating as more famous people, but you see a human side of her - not just the male fantasy. It's amazing how meeting the 'perfect' guy can turn your life around (she gave up drinking and drugs for him). She leads a clean, sober and relatively normal life and the book is an enjoyable read that does talk a lot about her life with Gene.
If you are a fan of her movies, or of her or of her husband, you'll like this book. I dropped a star because there is no major major substance, but it's a good, interesting read that I finished in no time flat. I really liked it.

To be honest, I was a little disappointed with this book...

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't interested in a kiss and tell look into her life, but I have a feeling Tweed is much more interesting and entertaining than what this book suggests.

Most of the book covers her live moving from Canada to LA boucing from boring boyfriend to even duller boyfriend. She finally meets Gene Simmons and she tells us how good there life is etc.

But she is obviously a hard worker, a survivor in LA movies, mixes with interesting people and is part of an intriguing relationship with Simmons - but there is little detail.

I found the "Family Jewels" DVD series far more satisfying and complimentary about her life.

For fans only...

4.0 out of 5 stars Better than Expected ..., January 3, 2007
This review is from: Kiss and Tell (Hardcover)
When I purchased KISS AND TELL by Shannon Tweed, I wasn't exactly certain what I'd be getting. As a life-long KISS fan (30 years and counting), I typically purchase the vast majority of merchandise they produce. Other than a brief introduction by Gene Simmons, this isn't at all a book about KISS. This book is Shannon's life story from small town farm girl growing up in Canada to Playmate Centerfold to 22+ year girlfriend of one of the world's most famous rock stars.

What I liked most about the book was Shannon's honesty -- everything from her history with drugs and numerous sexual partners to her very strong feelings about her children. I'm certain there are a few stories she's left out for the sequal, but the book clips along at a decent rate and I never felt bored or cheated.

Whether you are a KISS fan or not, this is an interesting autobiography of second most important woman in Gene Simmons life.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very Disappointed!, June 27, 2007

This review is from: Kiss and Tell (Hardcover)
I love biographies of all kinds and I loved Gene's book 'Kiss and Make Up'. I also love Shannon on her reality show "Gene Simmon's Family Jewels". One thing I did not love, was this book. It was horrible. I know there are so many more things she is not sharing, and that is her prerogative. This was just plain boring and seemed to be too edited by Gene. I never give books away, but I just recently gave this one to a senior citizens home (I am sure someone will be plucked when they see the nude shots inside.) If you like to read about Playmate's lives, or any stars lives, read The Bunny Tales or even Sharon Osbourne's book. Don't waste your money on this- it was horrible!

5.0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL, December 30, 2006
By
This review is from: Kiss and Tell (Hardcover)
My best Friend Donna, purchased this book, we always share books, and I read it in one night. I have always been fascinated with Playboy and Hugh Hefner, so that is the main reason I read the book. I did not know much about Kiss or Gene Simmons, except he has a big tounge. Anyway, I LOVED This book, I really respected Shannon and thought she has led an exciting life. She is also very nice to Hugh, which I appreciated. The book is full of pictures, which I love, alot of nudes ones too! Please buy this book, you will not be disappointed.

I thought this book would never come out but it's here and worth every minute of waiting. I have never read such an honest account of a person's life. Shannon is a beautiful person inside and out. And to Gene, you're a fool for not marrying her! But seriously this book makes you look at things in your own life. Things you may not be to proud of but yet you have learned from them. Thanks to Shannon for making women feel great about our gendor and choices we have made!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Read!, August 8, 2006
This review is from: Kiss and Tell (Hardcover)
Loooved this book! Captured my attention from page one, I didn't want to put it down. As an aspiring model/actor I was very interested in seeing the industry from an insider point of view. This gave me exactly what I needed. I would reccommend this book to anyone over the age of 13, especially if you are wanting to know what to expect in Hollywood. I also love the fact that I was able to get to know a side of the real Gene Simmons and not "the makeup and lights" Simmons.

was an 'ok' read. If you watch their reality show "Gene Simmon's Family Jewel's" then you already know what's in the book. Everything that's in the book has been discussed at one point or another in their tv program.

I think Shannon Tweed is a very intelligent and beautiful woman. She is a role model. I knew Shannon as an actress and she was good. Family Jewels shows the true person she is. The book, Kiss and Tell, was so good I finished it in 1 afternoon. I hope she and Gene are together 4-ever! They are and awesome couple and great parents! Kudos to Shannon the author!!
