This Album is the hottest album so far in 2001. I Agree that its no Chronic, Reasonable Doubt or Illmatic though. This Album is the hottest album so far in 2001. I Agree that its no Chronic, Reasonable Doubt or Illmatic though. There are obvious weak points like On My Way (Horrible Swizz hook) and I'm a Gangsta (Horrible Parle Hook). But Its still a tight album. Those of you who gave it 1 star are stupid I don't care if you think you're the biggest underground hip hop fan or whatever. I listen to guys like AZ, Cormega, Big L (R.I.P.) and Pharoe Monch too but that doesn't mean I have to think Jada's album is wack. He's one of the top 5 lyricist out there right now for sure if not top 3. Jada does songs with Timbaland and the Neptunes so now he's bubble gum? Thats just dumb everyone knows they have to put ...out to appeal to the clubs, nobody keeps it that real anymore. I mean Prodigy from Mobb Deep is in the new Destinys child video, and M.O.P. did a song with that boy band LFO, so Jadas is still better than most when it comes to that. I've never seen him on TV (MTV specificaly) except on 106th and Park and Rap City. He more than made up for those "bubble gum" tracks anyways with 2 Alchemist joints, plus a Premo track and the song with Nas. Then theres those of you that complain that hes too 1 dimensional. its a hardcore rap album for Christs sake you know going in that its gonna be guns, drugs, street tales and pimp lines. Did you expect tracks on creating world peace and saving the emvironment?Even guys like Outkast and Talib Kweli talk about a lot of the same things Jadakiss raps about in songs like "Feel Me" and "Keep Ya Head up". My point is you people complain that hes either too hard or too commercial, and need to stop hating because Jadakiss is definitely at least one of the "best since B.I.G. ain't here" Y'all just have nothing better to do than diss people you know have more talent than you could dream of having. The Best MCs like Jay-Z, Jada and Pac and Biggie before them try to take thei music to a level where everybody feels them, but idiots like you guys who claim this is the worst cd ever make it so that they could never please everyone. ...Like Kiss says "Too hard for MTV, not Black enough for BET, just let me be"

3.0 out of 5 stars More Dying than Riding?, August 11, 2001
This review is from: Kiss the Game Goodbye (Audio CD)
Jadakiss is obviously trying to expand his horizons. "Kiss The Game Goodbye" finds Jada exploring new territory, far beyond the usual Ruff Ryder's formula. This is most evident on songs like "When Kiss Is Spittin" (which features-- for real-- Nate Dogg), "Nasty Girl" (with Carl Thomas), "Cruisin'" (Snoop Dogg), and the R&B tinged "Keep Ya Head Up", where Jada decides to provide a motivational speaker role. Ironially, the most listen-albe music on the album is the usual Ruff-Ryder sound, where Jadakiss (who i believe to be one of the most lyrically talented in the rap game) sticks to his usual rough-and-rugged style ("What You Ride For?", where guests Fiend and Yung-Wun are practically screaming). "Un-Hunh!" (with fellow RR comrade DMX), the recent single "Put Ya Hands Up", and the Nas-featured "Show Discipline"-- which has the tightest beat on the album-- are the highlights. Of course, the usual Double-R beats are on here and the whole slew of the artists (Eve, Drag-On, The Lox, who all are there on "It's Time I See You") appear as well. All in all, Ruff Ryder fans should enjoy this one, unless theyre driven off by some of the muddy production. While Kiss is trying to branch out in the rap game, he is better off sticking to Ryding Or Dying; he should kiss the rest of the sound goodbye.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jadakiss busts a tyght flow, December 23, 2003
This review is from: Kiss the Game Goodbye (Audio CD)
Eyo, check it, Jada's got a tyght flow and his lyrics entice the listener. Sure some of his songs might be bad, but when was the last time you heard an album that was perfect? Of course all rappers have a give-up song, if they didn't then nobody would have a particular song they liked. But I know he's got skill and talent cuz I rhyme too and actually understand it unlike the other people who have written a review for it, who are probably rockers. Anyways I give Jadakiss two thumbs up and an ounce of coke.

4.0 out of 5 stars Kissin The Game Goodbye, November 16, 2001

Jadakiss is one of my favorite MCs .And when I found out he had a solo album comin out , i had to get it . I first got into Jadakiss when he and the Lox were with Bad Boy . I hated and still cant stand Puff but i admit puttin the LOX on was one of the best things that ever happen to hip hop . On this album , Jada rips up damn near every track . Jadakiss is one of the dopest lyricists out there . The production by The Neptunes , Timbaland , The Alchemist and Swizz Beatz makes the album a must have . The only track i dont really care for is What You Ride For . Although I like all the songs , my favorites are : Jada's
Got A Gun , Knock Yourself Out , Nasty Girl , Put Ya Hands Up , Crusin' and Feel Me . So with this album , Jadakiss is gonna kiss the weak rappers in this rap game goodbye .

4.0 out of 5 stars 4 stars because of the voice, delivery, and beats..., August 9, 2001

Mr. HrdBdy (North Kakalac) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kiss the Game Goodbye (Audio CD)
Jadakiss is arguably the hottest rapper on the planet right now. With the aid of more than a handful of impressive cameos as well as his stellar individual performances, the anticipation for this solo album had been phenomenal. So did Jada deliver the album that everybody was yearning for? Unfortunately...No. Nevertheless, his debut album is worth buying simply because it is consistent throughout. Though the number of "bangers" is limited to no more than five, every song deserves its share of attention. My major complaint about the album is its lack of subject matter and creativity. Of course, I wasn't expecting a "Let's Get Free" type album from Jada, but I was at least expecting him to bust out like Nas and hit us with some tracks like "I gave you power", "Ghetto Prisoners" or even "Dr. Knockboots". Instead, we get the typical "I'm a Gangsta" et cetera which is good for most, but not for a lyricist as gifted as Mr. Kiss. Jadakiss has the lyrical ability to talk about just about anything (table tennis, astronomy, etc.) and make it sound hot, but for some reason he chose to stick with what is selling right now. Booo for that! But the album was solid nonetheless...

3.0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been Much Better (Rating: 6 out of 10- -3.0 stars), July 17, 2008

(VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Kiss the Game Goodbye (Audio CD)
When Jadakiss was dropping a solo album, I was hyped as hell when I heard. After scoring so many hit singles with the LOX ("Money, Power, Respect", "Ryde Or Die [Chick]", etc.), he steps up to the plate as the first member of his crew to come out with a solo album.

Given that, back in '01, I was under the impression that this album was pushed back on Interscope, seeing that he released two singles before the album dropped ("Put Yo Hands Up" and "Knock Yaself Out"). The problem with this is that it seemed like hes gotten a little lazy with the lyrics. As the editorial reviewer mentioned, the album is flooded with Jada's consistant gun talk, which makes him seem like hes saying absolutely nothing new. The weak Aerosmith inspired "Jada's Got A Gun", and "I'm A Gangsta" shows no improvement since he was put on.

Jada pulls himself together on the tracks like "Show Discipline" with Nas. Then theres the classic with Styles P. on "We Gon Make It" (which shared the same beat with Ras Kass). The laid back "Crusin" is kinda great, which features Snoop Dogg. "Kiss Is Spittin" is wonderful, featuring Nate Dogg. I'll even "Here We Go Again" featuring DMX is nice, especially when Jada takes a shot a Beanie Sigel ("...the doc said I had to stop eating red meat, because I ate too many Beanie-Mac's"). Jada ends off the album on a positive note with "Keep Your Head Up".

Other guest appearances do very little, such as "It's Time I See You" with the majority of the Ruff Ryders, but everyone sounds weak. "What You Ride For" featuring Yung-Wun, Fiend, and Eightball makes Jada seems out of place (Note to any up and comming NY rappers: Stay off the down south stuff. It's NEVER worked.)

Overall, Kiss Of Death is a solid album. It could have been much better lyrically. The production here is very good too. This one is recommended if you're a fan of Jada, or the LOX. If you want to hear their best, I highly recommend Jada's sophomore album Kiss of Death, or Styles Gangster & A Gentleman, or Sheek's Walk Witt Me. Peace.

maybe even top 50, or top 25!

Much better than Kiss of Death , the best songs are None Of Yall Betta (Dj Premier beat), Discipline (with Nas)& Kiss is spittin (same beat as Regulate but a million times better...

Put Ya Hands up is obviously a shot at Jay-Z, since the beat is almost identical to his song called Do it Again (Put Ya Hands Up) and Jada tells him to put his hands down instead in this song... Also Good...

Songratings, skits not included

I bought Jadakiss album the day it came out, and till dis day I have no regrets. This album showcases Jadakiss as a top lyricist and also shows y he is the best in the Lox. Every song on this album is hot but my personal favorites are: Jadas got a gun, show dicipline, knock yourself out, we gonna make it, none of ya'll betta, put ya hands up, kiss is spittin', f***** or what, its time i see u, what u ride for, and uh huh. 5.0 out of 5 stars The quintessential hip-hop album-a must have Classic!!, January 22, 2003
By
Aaron A. Nunez (Syracuse, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kiss the Game Goodbye (Audio CD)
This album is a must have!! I brought this cd thinking that it was just another cd to add to my hip-hop collection. However, it has become my favorite and still is even today. I used to DJ my own parties in college, and I played this Cd from top to bottom; everyone went home satisfied and tired as hell from bumpin' and grindin' to this cd all night. It is the ultimate hip-hop party Cd. To those reviewers who dissed this cd, I suggest that you rate the Cd based on its purpose to the hip-hop industry. This Cd is meant for those who just want to bump to some tight beats. It is not meant to change the world through it's socially-impacting lyrics. Buy it for the best beats in hip-hop for many years to come!
