Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com

Ah, the '80s! A time of hair bands and their ludicrous MTV videos filled with spandex-clad band members and skimpily clad bimbos. Kiss: Exposed returns us to that forgettable era, as Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons show how to desperately try to remain cock rock's elder statesmen. This 1987 compilation serves up several now-hilarious video clips from Kiss's '80s "unmasked" period, including "Tears Are Falling," "Heaven's on Fire," "Lick It Up," and "I Love It Loud." (Count the fires burning in these classic video relics of days gone by!) Also on hand are Stanley and Simmons themselves, looking properly embarrassed as they act out rock's biggest fantasy: lounging by the pool with a bevy of (mostly) bare beauties. The saving grace is the generous selection of vintage live performances: hearing the band do "Strutter," "Detroit Rock City," "Ladies Room," and "Deuce" in its late-'70s prime is worth wading through the outdated '80s-style power pop... if you're a real Kiss fan, of course. --Kevin Filipski

5.0 out of 5 stars KISS "Exposed" On DVD!, March 17, 2002
By
Miles H Matsumoto (Honolulu, HI United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kiss - eXposed (DVD)
Finally, one of KISS' 1st commercially home video is on DVD. I bought "KISS Exposed" on VHS when it 1st came out, back in 1987. Now that it's on DVD, WOO HOO! Much clearer picture & CD quality sound! See Paul Stanley & Gene Simmons talk about when they 1st started out singing Beatles songs on the street corners in New York. See Paul & Gene go thru a room full of old KISS merchandise including, the piano used on "Beth" & "Christine Sixteen". See Gene in his room "playing Santa Claus" with a bunch of women. Bruce Kulick & Eric Carr also make appearences. There's a whole bunch of women in this video, including "Adult Stars" & "Adult Magazine" models. Like the VHS version, there is brief nudity in this DVD too. There are 7 Music Videos & 8 Live Videos in this DVD. They are...1. Who Wants To Be Lonely (Video '86) 2. Uh! All Night (Video '86) 3. I Love It Loud (Live in Rio De Janeiro '83) 4. Deuce (Live in San Francisco '75) 5. Strutter (Live in Detroit '76) 6. Beth (Live in Houston '77) 7. Detroit Rock City (Live in Australia '80) 8. Tears Are Falling (Video '85) 9. Lick It Up (Video '83) 10. All Hell's Breaking Loose (Video '84) 11. I Love It Loud (Video '82) 12. I Stole Your Love (Live in Houston '77) 13. Heaven's On Fire (Video '84) 14. Ladies Room (Live in Houston '77) 15. Rock And Roll All Nite (Live in Australia '80). I do have ALL of KISS' DVDs that has been released so far, and I do have ALL of their VHS videos (including the hard to get "KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park" & "KISS Animalize Live Uncensored"). Me being a HUGE KISS FAN since '78, I'd say, if you're a TRUE KISS FAN from the past or present & you don't have this on VHS then, you should get this DVD! I can't wait until the other commercially released KISS home videos are released on DVD! -:)

4.0 out of 5 stars KISS Exposed, April 2, 2000
This review is from: Kiss - eXposed [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I thought KISS Exposed was a an excellent video. I watch it at least once a week and always get a kick out of Gene and Paul's antics. It is full of humour right from the start and has great concert footage as well as videos such as Lick it Up, I love it Loud, Heaven's on Fire etc. It featured interviews with the founding members of KISS, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. A must have for any true KISS fanatic
