Kissed By An Angel is a GREAT read for any fans of romance and mystery. I wasn't aware that this THICK, almost daunting novel was actually three books put into one volume until I got it and read the small notation at the bottom of the book. It was scary at first, but then I realized the font was fairly large and that seemed to take the edge off the disheartening thickness of this book. You could seriously throw it at someone and injure them....BADLY!
Book size aside, Kissed By Angel was an EXTREMELY easy and absorbing book to read. It's one of those books that is SO hard to put down that you wind up reading late at night even while you are struggling to keep your eyes open!

The book centers on Ivy. She has just moved into town with her mother and 8 year old brother, Phillip after her mother becomes engaged to one of the town's wealthiest and most noteable patrons. Ivy soon finds herself living in a giant home with her new family, which includes her privileged new-stepbrother, Gregory. Ivy is a somewhat spiritual character, with a strong belief system pitted on guardian angels watching over her and the ones she loves. She has a collection of Angel statues in her room, with the two most special of them being her Water Angel, and another angel she calls Tony. At times, Ivy's "angel comments" were a little weird and that would be my biggest fault with the book and ultimately the reason why I denoted one star off my review rating. I just have a hard time picturing a NORMAL teenage girl thinking things like, "WATER ANGEL, PLEASE HELP ME!" which made it a little too melodramatic and weird at times. But, once you get past that specific little quirk of our main-character, everything is smooth sailing!

Things really get moving when Tristan, the school's star-athlete/swim meet champion takes interest in Ivy. Tristan is a genuinely NICE guy. He may be the school's heart-throb, but he is super kind, caring and relatable character for people to read about. And, surely, the young girls are going to LOVE him for his good looks and romantic ways with Ivy.

When Tristan is killed in a car accident that Ivy survives, he remains on earth. At first he thinks he is a ghost, but when a helpful, yet fairly annoying deceased actress named Lacey shows up, she lets Tristan know the truth. That he, like herself, is an angel. He must remain on earth until he completes his Mission...which is unknown to him. He has to figure out the reason he remains on earth and what his mission is. He struggles with finding a way to communicate with his beloved Ivy and yearns to hold her in his arms once again. But, things quickly get moving in the suspense genre when Tristan realizes that the car crash that killed him wasn't an accident, but was a planned murder!

This was a REALLY fun, easy to read, completely romantic story. I loved every second of it and I can't help but compare the flow of it to the Twilight series-although Twilight did feel a little more adult to me-and would TOTALLY recommend it to any fans of that series or any books that are romantic, suspenseful and have a great plot. This was a pleasure to read. I loved it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Books One, Two, and Three of the Kissed By an Angel Series, January 9, 2009
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
Originally published separately over a decade ago, this trilogy is being re-released in one complete book and what a book it is. The three books are KISSED BY AN ANGEL, THE POWER OF LOVE, SOULMATES.

In KISSED BY AN ANGEL, the very opening of the book covers the accident which Tristan dies. It also says this on the back cover, so it's no secret. It's right after that the author goes back and begins the story with Ivy meeting Tristan. It's the typical first love story. I was surprised out how many characters are introduced and not once did I have difficulty keeping them straight. When this first book ends, it's way too abrupt. If I had not had the second book, I would have been steam rolling mad. I mean, there is no ending. It cuts off.

THE POWER OF LOVE is where Tristan tries to reconnect with Ivy. Because of her loss, she no longer believes in angels. Why should she? They didn't protect her true love. Tristan is now an angel with a mission. He's not alone though. He has an angel helping him too, but this angel isn't exactly angelic.

He becomes aware that the accident was no accident at all. The only problem is who was the target? This love story quickly turns into a mystery, full of suspense. At the end of this book, the reader is again left hanging. Is Ivy going to live or die?

In SOULMATES, we discover she is in fact going to live, but everyone, including Ivy thinks she tried to commit suicide by walking in front of a moving train. As far as the world is concerned, her younger brother saved her. He did, but with the help of Tristan.

She will finally open her heart enough to believe once again in angels, thus connecting again with Tristan. In this book, not all the characters will walk away. So will and some will die. The story will have a happy ending, just not the one Ivy had hoped for.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. There were some not so believable parts, but I dearly loved this book. Not since the Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series have I been pulled in with such emotion.

Artistically composed to keep you in suspense page after page. Very clever to have all three books in one; this made it so convenient to not miss a scene. I tensed up everytime the angel Tristan tried to manifest his presence....as if he needed my help! This book is about love, deceit, greed, jealousy, choices, betrayal, danger, action, and so much more! It leaves you aching throughout and then towards the end, satisfaction!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming..........., March 13, 2009
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Ivy's life is changing. her mother re-married, she has a new step-brother in a new house, and her collection of angels can only take care of so much. Then she meets, sweet and romantic Tristan. Who not only helps her get over her fear of water, by teaching her how to swim but they fall in love. One day Tristan and Ivy get into a car accident that kills Tristan and leaves Ivy not believeing in angels at all.
What she didnt expect was for Tristan to come back as an angel, for his unfinished business. He figured out that the car accident wasnt so much an accident and he wasn't the target to begin with. Ivy's in danger.
Only problem is Ivy doesnt believe anymore so she cant see him. Her brother Phillip can. Who would believe an 8 year old?
With the help of Lacey, a fellow angel with unfinished business of her own, and Phillip Tristan will not only have to save Ivy from getting killed but he will also need to let go of her when the times comes.

i loved the book, most of the time anyway. sometimes i really wanted to slap people in it. lol
i didn't enjoy the ending so much but hey to each their own right.
But it was a beautiful story about everlasting love. who says love ends when we die?

4.0 out of 5 stars Calling all Angels, February 19, 2009
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Customer review from the Amazon Vine™ Program (What's this?)
When I requested this book, I had no idea it was a 700+ page trilogy. I thought I was only receiving, 'Kissed by an Angel." I was delighted to find that it contained 'The Power of Love,' and 'Soulmates,' as well, completing the series. I was also pleased that the type was large and easy on the eyes, which is not often the case, when three novels are combined in one book. It was, however, a little awkward to hold.

As I began reading, I was suddenly transported to 1990, when I sat in the theatre sobbing at the performances of Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, in 'Ghost.' The themes between 'Ghost,' and Chandler's trilogy are so striking, that I had to wonder if this is where she found her inspiration for this trilogy, copyrighted in 1995. After all, 'Ghost' was a tremendously popular, Oscar winning film, that remains one of the most beautiful love stories of our time.

The only significant difference I see is that this trilogy is directed toward a YA audience, with teenage characters, while 'Ghost' had a broader age group appeal. In both scenarios, we find the loss of a male partner, a true love...a soul-mate, under violent circumstances.

As in 'Ghost,' Tristan's spirit remains close to Ivy's side, while he seeks numerous ways to alert her that her life is in danger. Again, Ivy is much like Demi's character, in wanting to deny Tristan's existence, which leads to countless near misses in recognizing his ethereal presence.

Ivy is angry that Tristan was taken from her. So angry, that she loses her faith, particularly in Angels which previously were a source of comfort. As she continues to block Tristan out, he has to seek out intermediaries, who are receptive to allowing him in to reach her, which reminded me of Whoopi Goldberg's character, the Psychic, in 'Ghost.'

Danger is escalating and Tristan is running out of time to save Ivy. His devotion reeks of conflict, though, because he realizes once he has finished his mission, he will be leaving this world, to the next. Sounds like Ghost again, huh? Who doesn't remember Patrick Swayze fading away. Was there a dry eye!

I loved 'Ghost,' and even as an adult, I enjoyed this novel. Tristan, Ivy and the cast of supporting characters were brilliantly drawn, for a YA read. Tristan and Ivy's, first true love, romance was lovely. The suspense, mystery and fantasy that ensued kept the page's turning. All that was missing was a chorus of 'Unchained Melody.'

I would have preferred a little more adult theme, but if I was a YA---the intended audience, I would absolutely LOVE these books.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book touched my heart like no other book, December 22, 2010
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Ivy always believed in angels. When she meets Tristan, it's the love of a lifetime. When he dies, her heart is broken and her belief in angels vanishes. And without that belief, she is unable to feel Tristan's presence when he returns--as an angel. Now Ivy is in terrible danger, and Tristan is struggling to save her. How can he protect her if she's lost her faith in angels?

Kissed By An Angel is an omnibus (meaning several books bound together in one, just in case anyone didn't know) and includes the novels Kissed By An Angel, The Power of Love, and Soulmates. But I'm reviewing them as a whole.

Please, don't pay attention to he Celine Dion-esque titles of the books. They are amazing. Heartbreaking, breathtaking, gut wrenching.... AMAZING. I instantly got into the books, into Ivy and Tristan's story. Ivy and Tristan's relationship was so real; this is one of the best YA love stories have read in a long time. They were so sweet together and Tristan was such a gentleman and a general all around cutie pie.

Ivy herself was my favorite character. She had a lot going on in her life and dealt with all of it as it came. Her emotions were raw and piercing, yet she still retained that sense of self that will sometimes get lost in novels like this.

But the character that came in for a close second is Gregory. Talk about bad boy. He was extremely hot and appealing, except he was... well... insane. But I guess that's half the attraction.

This is one of those very few and rare novels that really touched me and left me feeling such tumultuous emotions even after I finished it. It left me both heart broken and happy all at the same time. It is also one of the select few that actually made me slightly teary-eyed. This is a definite read for romance lovers, paranormal lovers, and anyone just looking for a great story!

4.0 out of 5 stars Kissed by an angel review ( By: Tina E.), January 4, 2010
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Book Review of Kissed by an Angel by Elizabeth Chandler

By: Tina E.
Many whom pass by this novel may be intimidated by its length, but the read is most definitely worth it. The writing is very to the point, and fairly easy to read. Anyone who enjoys reading a good love/mystery story, I suggest should read this book.
This book contains a lot of foreshadow, so it is wise when reading every chapter to pay close attention to every little detail mentioned. The book does have a dark side to it, especially in the beginning of the novel. When reading this book, one must definitely be open -minded and imaginative.
I admire the main character Ivy. She must go through a lot of mental and physical suffering throughout the entire story. Yet, she maintains strong and shows signs of true bravery. She is forced to endure a lot at a young age, and tries her best to hide any fear or sadness from the public eye.
After a lot of reading, a reader may think she or he can skip a couple pages if it's all just made up of long speeches of lectures. This action would be the wrong one to take when reading this book. Every detail is very crucial to figuring out how the story unfolds. Every chapter gives several hidden clues that can be picked up by any average reader, if the reader decides to fully read each chapter.
Although this story is fictional, it has some true life lessons that are brought out in the entire story. Whenever in real life one is faced with difficulty or has gone through a tragic experience, when it all has ended, they should still keep their eyes open. When I say that I mean they should still metaphorically keep their eyes open to everything. Ivy's problem was she kept her eyes "closed" and shut herself away from possible answers. She shut herself away from the truth.

This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
Kissed by an Angel, The Power of Love and Soulmates is a great read. I thought it would be hard to get through the first part since you already know Tristan will die. You read of how his relationship with Ivy develops and ask yourself "Should I continue reading? He dies"! But read on you should! The book is romance, fantasy, and suspense all in one big, thick book with large print. Easy to read. Well worth the $9.99 price.
I would recommend this for 8th grade on up.

5.0 out of 5 stars A trilogy of romance and suspense: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates, March 19, 2009
This review is from: Kissed by an Angel: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates (Paperback)
A trilogy of romance and suspense: Kissed by an Angel; The Power of Love; Soulmates
Ivy loses her faith in angels when her first love, Tristan, dies. He becomes her guardian angel, attempting to protect her. In a state of denial, she refuses to believe that he is with her. Knowing she is in danger, Tristan seeks ways to contact her. Unfortunately, he knows that once she is safe, his job will be complete, and he will no longer be by with her.
Kissed by an Angel begins with Ivy and Tristan declaring their love for each other. Ivy tried to warn Tristan of the deer darting across the road, but it was too late; he could not stop. Looking back, she recalls their first meeting. Tristan relives the accident and realizes the reason for the accident was the lack of brakes on the car.
The Power of Love finds Tristan desperate to contact Ivy and warn her she is in danger. However, Ivy no longer believes in angels. She was disillusioned at the loss of Tristan. We are left, with a cliffhanger, wondering whether Ivy will live.
Soulmates picks up where the second book of this trilogy left off. *Spoiler alert*Ivy survives, but everyone believes she attempted suicide. Eventually, Ivy comes to believe in angels again. She reconnects with Tristan.
Fans of Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze will be reminded of their delightful movie "Ghost." The plot is very similar. Kissed By An Angel is a 700-page trilogy. The print is a nice size for easy reading. The cover is beautifully done with a yellow rose. However, the red print is impossible to read. This is a reprint. Originally, the books were in individual print. The focus of this series is Young Adult, possibly middle school or high school. Kissed By An Angel is an excellent read, filled with suspense and romance.
