About the Author

Shéa MacLeod spent most of her life in Portland, Oregon, before moving to an Edwardian townhouse in London located just a stone’s throw from a local cemetery. Such a unique locale probably explains a lot about her penchant for urban fantasy post-apocalyptic sci-fi paranormal romances, but at least the neighbors are quiet. Alas, the dearth of good donuts in London drove back across the pond to the land of her birth. She is the author of the Sunwalker Saga and Dragon Wars series.

Shéa MacLeod is the author of urban fantasy post-apocalyptic scifi paranormal romances with a twist of steampunk. She has dreamed of writing novels since before she could hold a crayon. She totally blames her mother.

After a six year sojourn in London, England, a dearth of good donuts has driven her back to her hometown. She now resides in the leafy green hills outside Portland, Oregon where she indulges in her fondness for strong coffee, Ancient Aliens reruns, lemon curd, and dragons.

Because everything's better with dragons.

Shéa is the author of the fast paced urban fantasy series the Sunwalker Saga (KISSED BY DARKNESS, KISSED BY FIRE, and KISSED BY SMOKE)which is available now on Amazon from Montlake Romance. She is also the author of the post-apocalyptic series Dragon Wars (DRAGON WARRIOR, DRAGON LORD, DRAGON GODDESS), the Cupcake Goddess novelettes, and the Sunwalker Saga Spinoff Series, Soulshifter (FEARLESS).

Morgan's best friend and boss Kabita has received some bad news, her cousin has been murdered and it looks like she was killed by a species that are supposed to be extinct. Morgan offers to return to London with Kabita and help her uncover exactly what happened to her cousin but she also has a bit of a secret agenda and is hoping to track down the vampire who attacked her several years ago. Was Kabita's cousin really killed by a dragon and if she was how will they track down a killer from a species that hasn't been seen in centuries?

I have to confess that I wasn't the biggest fan of the first book in this series. I felt that Kissed by Darkness had a lot of potential but hadn't managed to live up to that and there were a lot of things that irritated me about the story and Morgan in particular. It's fair to say I had reservations about continuing the series but I wanted to give it a second chance for three reasons; firstly I have read a lot of series that don't have the strongest start but have developed really well in subsequent books and turned into favourites; secondly I have been desperate to find more urban fantasy books with a London setting and although this whole series isn't set in the UK I knew this instalment would be; finally this book has dragons in it - I absolutely adore anything dragon related so that was the reason that really sold me. I have to say that Kissed by Fire was slightly better than the first book but it still didn't manage to wow me and unfortunately a lot of the things that irritated me in the first book continued to irritate me in this one.

Could not hear anymore about Morgan's libido! If I had a drink for everytime Morgan's libido was mentioned.... well.... I'd be drunk. I was interested in the first book in the series, but could only make it about half way through the second : Just wasnt feeling the kick ass vampire killer in this one.

As if she did not already have a unique cool power she gets another one that also fights for control and threatens to overwhelm and kill her. This is all about her finding the guy that "killed" her and how she is trying to suppress her new powers. Also she gets back with skinwalker but he leaves her high and dry once again due to his issues and then there is the hot half dragon right there waiting in the wings to pick up the pieces of her promiscuous heart that she practically wears on her forehead instead of on her sleeve. And then suddenly she is totally dependent and serious with drangon Guy and it makes me sick because she is so needy and not at all the independent kick ass girl I believed her to be. She shows a lot of weakness and its disappointing. I will not be reading any further into this series. Waste of time and money.

I loved this book. It honestly just got better and better as it went along. By the final page I was completely hooked and now I can't wait for the next book. The author is great at adding in lots of twists and turns to the plot that I never saw coming. She's really opened up Morgan's character into something all new by the end of the second book. I love all the little hints she's throwing about secrets and the future... I can't wait for the next one!

I read the first Sunwalker book and enjoyed it -- so I got the second in the series and was not disappointed. Who Morgan Bailey is, is becoming, and what is in store for her -- from her relationships to the important people in her life, to her relationship with herself -- as her powers change and grow. The book straddles light comedy with dark forboding in an intriguing way. Guess I have to buy the next one to see what happens.

Kissed by Fire

Kissed by Fire is the second book in Shea MacLeod's Sunwalker Saga. I read the first book, Kissed by Darkness several months ago and loved it. Kissed by Fire has been on my TBR list for some time and I finally got a chance to read it. I literally didn't put it down. I curled up in my reading chair and read the entire book, completely lost in another world and the adventures of one Morgan Bailey.
Shea is a great storyteller, and in Kissed by Fire she does not disappoint. Madcap vampire hunter, Morgan Bailey, is more badass than ever, the mystery even harder for her to solve, and as usual, her lively libido will distract her from time to time.
Kissed by Fire is like a great action movie, the villains are nasty, the heros gritty, and the action fast paced. I had a lot to do that evening, but I sat and read the whole book instead; I'm not one bit sorry.
Great work, Shea. Five stars.

Overall, I really enjoyed the second book in the Sunwalker series, but maybe not quite as much as the first. Just like the first book, this book is both imaginative and well written. The author seems to know exactly where she plans to take this series. The storyline isn't a rehash of the 1st and it didn't completely run a predictable course either. I thought the writing and flow of this book also greatly improved over the 1st.

However, a couple of things did keep me from giving this read five stars. The tone was definitely more somber than the first and the humor seemed to be missing. I'm not sure if it was a slower pace or somber tone, that kept me from joyfully devouring this one in just one go. Three quarters the way through, interest and pace did seem to pick up quite nicely and I quikly read through the rest without difficulty. I think the majority of my issue was the somber and somewhat depressive beginning. Hopefully the humor returns in the next book.

But as I said, I still really enjoyed this book, and it was a fairly quick read. Not many books have peeked my interest as of late, so I'm definitely looking forward to reading more from this author in the future. For those that haven't read the first book in this series, I strongly suggest starting there first.
