Great resource for teaching the teens (especially girls),
By Joshua (Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry: Why Women Lose When We Give In (Paperback)
"Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry" as the title suggests is about why girls lose but it's also about how they can win. From my own experience I am sure that I was a hunter of girls looking for the girl that thought sex was love. Sex is NOT love, as the book suggests, however the book deals with a change of heart in order to change your life. I destroyed many girls innocence because they thought that sex was love. "Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry" takes into account how many guys have what seems uncontrollable desires and they WILL say anyhting to get what they want. If lady's new what went on in a man's mind, the things that men NEVER admit to, they would have Lisa's insight on how to protect their younger girls from the men who hunt rather than love. What goes in a man's mind is why so many fathers are protective of their daughter's. I have discovered that the desires of lust are the enemy of true love and this book captures this characteristic of life awesomely well. A person who is open to applying a word to their life will find this book excellent. I hope there are more people with Lisa's phenomenal insight.

I bought this book in hopes it would give me some wisdom to share with my teen-aged boys. WOW, it was healing and I recommend it to any mother with a daughter. I'm sending a copy to my sister for her and her two daughters. I am also getting a copy for our youth leaders at church. God is awesome!

Purity based on a Love relationship with Jesus,
By
This review is from: Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry: Why Women Lose When We Give In (Paperback)
I tell you, you can't go wrong with the Beveres! Both John and Lisa have evidence of the biblical ministry of Jesus Christ in their work. It is evident from the clear-cut Bible principles that Lisa uses in this book that her heart is for Jesus and His people. The main premise of this book is teaching women to establish a real love relationship with Jesus and to base their goal of purity on the intimacy they have with Jesus. Basically, stay pure because you are in love with Jesus and this is what He both warns and commands us to do. If you wholeheartedly receive Jesus' word on purity, you will have no problem with the message He gives through Lisa in this book

As far as I am concerned our socialized culture has failed in trying to convince me that purity and faithfulness are a thing of the past. I no longer listen to cultural icons whose lives only reflect faithlessness and momentary gratification.I hear a much louder voice, the voice of individuals like Lisa Bevere who speak of truth that is unchanging. Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry is packed full of tools that will help us be the strongest women this world has ever encountered.
Also,I am touched by Lisa's vunerability in this book. She is so willing to talk about her past choices in order that others who come after her will not have to walk down that same painful road. And it is helping to reverse the lies that have taken such a destructive toll on my generation.

Best book a woman will ever read besides the bible,
By Giz "Giz" (fayetteville, GA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry: Why Women Lose When We Give In (Paperback)
This book was life changing! I am 19 and have been through a lot of what this book is talking about. Lisa Bevere who is an amazing writer has also been through sexual misfortunes, giving away herself too soon, and overcoming the ideal image of a woman. Not only does it give you an in depth look of what the bible has to say about how women should be, it gives you Jesus's perspective on women as his bride. I was amazed and captivated by the stories in this book, it left me wanting to remiain pure for God and my future husband. This book will help mend any brokeness a girl could ever have from being used in any sexual way in her life. This book didnt condem girls for their sexual past, it showed how God wants to help us, and how he is our prince that will redeam us from our past. I cannot say enough about this book. I am 19, and wish every other girl my age could read this. I hope there are mothers out there that will buy this for their 13 year old to 90 year old daughters. This will go in the top 5 books I have ever read. I will def re purchase over and over to give as gifts to friends. Women who have been hurt by, abused by, or given in to sexual ways you must read this it will heal your heart.!

I thought this book was excellent because it was so transparent and humble. I would highly recommend this book. I think it relates to everyone - women who have made mistakes and women who could learn from other people's mistakes to avoid making them themselves.

Reading this book, my life changed. No longer was a list of rules being shoved in my face, but a mother's voice was soothing that which has been awakened back to sleep. Tears streaked my face as healing was brought to my very core. I recommend this for any young girl... or even mothers who are seeking healing from things in their past. Are you having trouble answering questions for your pre-teens? Answers will be found in the pages of this book. As you read, be ready and prepared for... a genuine, life-changing encounter with your Prince.

The power of purity ...,

This review is from: Kissed the Girls and Made Them Cry: Why Women Lose When We Give In (Paperback)
This book is about: How to gain freedom from all the lies you've been told about your sexuality. And since author Lisa Bevere is very well able to speak for herself, I will let her: "And why, why, why would I write a book on the virtues of sexual purity when it appears nobody is really interested or listening? And to whom would I write? In answer, this book is for daughters in waiting. It is for mothers to remember. It is for every fallen one who longs to be lifted. And it is for those who've kept themselves, to know and fully realize their reward and be encouraged to remain strong. "This book is a letter from a generation of mothers and mentors who have known regret, to the daughters of this generation that they might be kept from our failures, and inherit the promises and not the pain. It is a tool for mothers who feel they can't tell their daughters no because years ago they themselves said yes. "This is not a book of do's and dont's ... it is a book of restoration. A glimpse at how God sees things, a revelation of His original intent. Some might call it an impossible fairy tale, but I believe it can be true. Rules will never set us free, just as fear and control will never keep us safe. It is truth that frees us, one that looms larger than all the lies presently surrounding us. Truth is the dawning of morning where there has been a gross and long night of darkness filled with horrible disappointment and despair .... "Why have I told you this? Because I believe God wants to tell you a bedtime story, to rock back to sleep what's been so rudely awakened. One to softly lull passions back to a place of waiting and resting in slumber, a story to restore to a dreamlike state what was awakened before its time. A place where fears are calmed and hope is restored. A haven where shame is not permitted, and everything is fresh, new, and clean as flowers after a spring rain." -- pp. 10-11 This book, if you let it, will take you on a journey from shame to restoration. And that's the power of purity & a clean heart -- which only God can provide to the fallen, amen.

This book answers so many questions that generations of woman have secretly asked themselves. How far is too far, can my purity be restored, and what exactly is modesty? Lisa does an excellent job at presenting the word of God in answering these questions. What a blessing to the body of Christ!
