Editorial Reviews

From School Library Journal

PreS—In this interactive, touch-and-feel book, animal babies receive lots of love. "KISSES in the…morning./KISSES on your…nose./KISSES on your…head./KISSES on your…toes." There are many pull tabs and gatefold surprises that will delight young audiences, from wiggling puppy ears to swinging monkeys. The cartoon illustrations are complemented by bright background colors. The simple rhyming text invites lots of parental participation. While the tabs and textured fabric elements may limit shelf life, the book is perfect for sharing in baby storytimes.—Linda Ludke, London Public Library, Ontario, Canada

"Saltzberg (Animal Kisses) returns with another touch-and-feel book about kisses, with plenty of textures and interactive features accompanying rhymed text (“Kisses in the... morning./ Kisses on your... nose”)...Kids will enjoy the element of surprise helping move the action forward."--Publishers Weekly

The cover has a big slice in the heart and it wasn't what I expected nor paid for.

Because we let the baby "read" kisses by himself quite often - and he does it, happily - some of the pages have finally fallen out.

This is my 19 month old sons favorite book, there are things to touch, to pull and to open, and the graphics are fantastic.

When you buy this lovely book try to make sure that baby/toddler will not eat, rip or tear pages. This was very tempting to my grandson. He still brings it over to me to read to him, but it is missing a "few parts". I would and probably will buy him another in a couple of months. Now with that said, Trevor is particularly very oral and everything goes in his mouth. Therefore another baby who is 18 months old might not have a problem. But this book is so beautuful I am going to wait until he grows out of this faze. grandma

This is a cute little book with nice rhymes and lots of touch/feel and pull or lift-the-flap features. My only complaint is that some of the flaps or pages to pull are sticky (possibly too complicated; like pulling an entire page from hearts to stars), so they're hard for my two-year-old to manage on his own.

This is my 19 month old sons favorite book, there are things to touch, to pull and to open, and the graphics are fantastic. It already has a little tear from his over- enthusiastic ear-wiggling of the "kiss on the head", but he is learning to be more gentle. Even his best buddy who is four loves this book. Thick, sturdy and pretty. A really good buy

Until Kisses, my now-nine-month-old son refused to sit through the reading of any book without squirming, grabbing, and trying to "eat" the book. We were sent Kisses as a baby present and I grabbed it at random one day off the shelf when my son was about six months old. To see the way my son's face lit up when we started reading this book was wonderful. We have read Kisses many, many times every day over the last three months, and every time, my son is fascinated by the textures, tries to open the flaps himself, grins at certain pictures and pages, and then makes me start all over again.

Because we let the baby "read" kisses by himself quite often - and he does it, happily - some of the pages have finally fallen out. I don't blame the book for this at all - it has been very well loved and even a book made of steel wouldn't have withstood our baby's constant touching. I'm ordering another copy today.

Baby girl got this Valentine's Day at 6 months (I actually got it from Sam's Club). She liked it, but now she is 9 months, she LOVES it. This is the only book she will sit down and actually sit through the entire book. She will pull it out of the bookcase, sit down, and start trying to open the pages. We start with the smushy heart on the first page, and she loves every page (maybe except the frog page, she isn't too fascinated with it yet). I move the pull parts for her like the dog's flapping ears and the stars/hearts page. Other than that, it is all her feeling every page and anticipating the next. The story is cute and simple (very much less complicated than "Good Night, Moon" style of writing.
