Claire travels back to the enchanting City of Light and discovers her inner and outer beauty with the help of her tres charmant childhood friend, Adrien.

In this delightful Pygmalionesque story, Adrien takes Claire under his wing like a French big brother. He persuades her occasionally to change into dressier clothes than her t-shirts, shorts and running shoes Parisians so look down on in their beautiful city, and he takes her shopping for chic frocks and stiletto heels.

Claire also begins shedding the complacency of her lackluster life in Seattle. She finds she has fallen in love with Paris, the apartment she has inherited, and the mysterious woman who had lived there--and the fabulous clothes the woman left behind.

Still, Claire clings to some rigid ways of dressing and thinking and relating to God, much the way she clings to her pink, green and orange backpack.

Adrien wines and dines Claire. With sweet Gallic charm and the patience of Job, he looks into her eyes and challenges her cherished stereotypes with his beautiful French accent and animated love of life.

Could it be that God Himself created joie de vivre?

Witty, handsome Adrien's joie de vivre is all the more reason Claire has always loved him. And how she longs to kiss him. But he could never return the love of a girl like her. So, she helps him deal with an unnamed woman he does love who doesn't seem to get it.

The reader gets it, though, and may want to give Claire a shake and Adrien a hug!

Having stayed in a small hotel on the Rue Cler and visited the Louvre and so many other sites that Siri Mitchell slips seamlessly into the story with colorful detail, I loved reading about them here.... This book should have been listed under chic lit and not Christian. The book portrays the heroine's Christian pastor boyfriend as a narrow-minded loser and the heroine's old family friend, a worldly, know-it-all Frenchman, as the one with all the answers about being a Christian. Of course, she has it all wrong and he spends every scene they have together shoving his moral code down her throat--which is really no moral code at all. The first piece of sage advice he gives her is that being a Christian "should allow us to become even more like ourselves." He goes on to tell her, "That is why I became a Christian. To be more me." Ok,the last time I checked, the Bible (That book about Christ and being a Christian) tells us to become more like Christ. It kinda sounds like Christ should be the center of our lives and not ourselves, which is the theme of this book. I am an advocate of enjoying life to the fullest, but when you have to make up blatantly unbiblical doctrine in order to drive your point home, you might want to reconsider your overall message. If you are looking for a preachy book with tons of worldly advice that sounds good on the surface but has no depth whatsoever, this is the book for you.

Though contemporary fiction is not my usual cup of tea, I was willing to take a chance because Kissing Adrien is by Siri Mitchell. I've yet to read a novel by her that I didn't enjoy, and this one was so much fun!

What I liked--
The characters: Claire's characteristics were so well-grounded in the story. She was a practical, no nonsense kind of girl, and I really enjoyed watching her make the journey from over-thinking everything and being overly critical of everything to realizing that life is meant to be enjoyed and savored. Adrien and the other secondary character's were great too. Adrien

The setting: I really wanted to hop on a plane bound for Paris. I really felt immersed in the city and the culture. From the street vendors, to the museums, to the Eiffel Tower, I was loving it all.

Historical aspects: I love how the mysterious life of Clair's distant and recently deceased relative was involved in the story. In fact, I wish Mitchell had incorporated more of Madame's life into the story. I wanted Claire to go on a hunt for clues about her, and while that never really happened fully, I did love the parts that were included.

A minor issue--
In my opinion, Claire was a little bit naive for someone that was 29 years old. Some of the romantic hints were so incredibly obvious that I just didn't understand how she could not see them. I never had the impression that she was choosing not to see them, but rather that she literally did not see them. This didn't really detract from my enjoyment of the story, but it is something I noticed.

This has nothing to do with the content of the book, but I don't think the cover fits the content of the book. It just gives off the wrong vibe.... While the story has light-hearted aspects, there is quite a bit of depth to the story, which was a pleasant surprise for me.

I absolutely could not get enough of 'Kissing Adrien'!! Siri Mitchell took a simple American girl and a handsome French man and...created a work of art. I swear it could be a Monet.

Siri took everything that a typical American girl, like myself, sees as life (boring as it may sometimes be) and tossed it with le Tour Eiffel, les modes du Français...and very pricy underwear...

After reading 'Kissing Adrien' I took a step back and reconsidered my view on some of the issues we American Christians look down upon.

OOOH!!! I desperately want to go experience France the same way Claire Le Noyer did...especially on the arm of a handsome Frenchman like Adrien Delaportes.

I definitely hope there will be a sequel to 'Kissing Adrien'. Hey, we still need to know what it will be like 'Marrying Adrien' and 'Having Babies with Adrien'...you understand where I'm going with this!!!

Read this book!!!!! I'm so glad I came across it! Siri Mitchell, your writing is étonnante, très excellent, et parfait!

Please make a sequel!!!!!????;)

When I'm listening to a speaker and I'm taking notes, chances are, I've just had a great idea for a plot or a dialogue. If I'm nodding my head in response to a really profound statement, I'm probably thinking, 'Yes. Right. That's exactly what my character needs to hear.'

When I'm editing my manuscripts, I laugh at the funny parts. And I cry at the sad parts.

Sometimes I even talk to my characters. 'Okay, Joe. Talk to me. Tell me what you're thinking here.' And yes, the characters answer me. I actually hear them talking in my head.

Half the time, I think I'm an okay writer. The other half, I'm tempted to take a magnet to the hard drive.

The easy part is writing. The hardest part is editing. The worst part is wondering if the books are going to sell.

I have plenty of ideas for books; the thing I lack is the time to write them. I write by the word. Other writers write by the page. However you want to tally it, 85,000 words is a lot of pages.

In the world of writing I have done nothing right. I wrote 4 books and accumulated 153 rejections before I signed with a publisher. And then I had to write a fifth book so that they could publish it. In the process, I saw the bottoms of more pints of Ben & Jerry's than I care to admit. I vowed never to write another word again. Ever. I went on writing strikes and I even stooped to threatening my manuscripts with the shredder.

However. Here I am, over a dozen books into the process!
