Rebecca is leaving her Amish community in Indiana to pursue a nursing career in Portland, Oregon. On her way to Portland she feels led to stop and visit her friend Marianna in Montana. There she meets Caleb, a young Amish man with a sense of adventure and daredevil. Both Caleb and Rebecca are keeping secrets that could jeopardize any further relationship between them.

I enjoyed THE KISSING BRIDGE. The relationship between Caleb and Rebecca had its ups and downs of course. I admired Rebecca for her desire to become a nurse no matter what it took. I liked how the author portrayed both characters struggles with their Amish upbringing and a more personal relationship with God. And I liked being able to once again visit this community where Marianna and Ben have settled. If you haven't read any of the Seven Brides For Seven Bachelors series you must remedy that along with A Big Sky novels where Marianna's story unfolds.

After years of determination and smooth sailing to follow the path an Amish girl feels is what God has directed her to take, stumbling blocks begin getting in her way. However, God uses many different people to open her eyes and remove her fears and she gets back on the path. By doing so, she falls in love and finds a way to live among the plain, be accepted in a family and still be able to follow the path. A very good story and the fact that it was mostly in Montana and Portland, Oregon (both of which I know well) made it even more interesting to me.

When her sister died in childbirth, Rebecca--a young Amish woman--felt helpless because medical help did not arrive in time and she was not able to save her sister. That day she determined to be a nurse in order to help give her Amish community better access to health care. At the start of the book, she is conflicted because her community does not approve of higher education; if she pursues her dream, she will be rejected by both her community and her family.

Without telling her family, she borrows a friend's computer and takes classes online. She earns her high school diploma and begins nursing classes. She is accepted by a nursing school in Oregon.

Again without telling her family, she leaves her hometown by train to move to Oregon. Along the way she stops to visit an old friend in Montana. There she meets Caleb, a young Amish man with his own family issues, and struggles to choose between her attraction to him and her dream of becoming a nurse.

The Kissing Bridge is a very sweet story, and I enjoyed it. The character interactions are realistic and interesting. Goyer has an exceptional way with words, and reading her work is a joy. I also appreciated that the book is absolutely family-friendly, with no profanity or mature content.

(I received an e-book, at no cost to me, in order to review this title.)

“The Kissing Bridge” by Tricia Goyer is the third book of her 'Seven Brides for Seven Bachelor's' series though it is a great stand alone book. I got so frustrated with this book for frankly I didn't know what to expect from one page to another for nothing was going the way I thought that it should for it wasn't following any predictable path. I never planned on reading this book in one sitting for I planned on being under time constraints of a bedtime, but yeah that was blown to pieces for I just couldn't put this book down for any reason.

This book was a path of forks in the road instead of a straight path with a bunch of hurdles that need to be jumped. Here choices frankly had to be made, and they sure weren't easy ones for anyone involved. I so loved the forks in the book that had to be decided on, which is so different then the other two books in the series. I really enjoy series when there is a such a difference in stories where it is so obvious that it not a recycled story line, or the author didn't know what else to do other than reuse a story-line with some differences. The choices that had to be made were not simple ones for any of those involved for they were life changing choices that couldn't be made on a moments notice. Honestly I feared that there were going to be choices that were made on a moments notice because of how the book was progressing (hence the not being predictable in any way, shape or form) but then things took another change.

Though attraction is nearly instantaneous between Caleb and Rebecca, I found the way the romance bloomed between them to be so interesting and at the time so sweet. It is almost as if they know that their time is limited so they make the most of their time together without crossing any lines.

I am impressed with the amount of books Tricia Goyer writes in a year. She is an excellent writer and switches from various genres in fiction to non-fiction easily.

I really like this series. The name of the series and the covers drove me to the start of this series and it has made me not want to stop reading the series now until it's completed! I like how familiar characters come back into the story, but new characters and stories are introduced.

Tricia Goyer painted a beautiful picture of the town Kootenai. I felt like I was taking part in a mini-vacation every time I jumped into this story thanks to the beautiful scenery.

I truly liked Rebecca and Caleb and their determination and adventure. I liked how Rebecca had a heart to help even the Englisch people, as well as the Amish. Romance was in the book, but it was just the right amount. I felt like I was watching a relationship bloom before my eyes.

Can't wait to see what's next for Tricia Goyer. I know she has some in the works!
