Beautiful Art and a Story Like No Other,
By Wrayzor (CANADA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
This collection of Arthur Dela Cruz's Kissing Chaos series was a great read. The art pulled me in and the writing pulled me closer. I've always been a fan of "on the run" stories, and this book was no exception. Chances are, you haven't seen art like this much before. A combination of medias that when combined, made perfect sense. Keep your eyes open for the now available comic book entitled "Kissing Chaos-1000 Words". It continues the story of Damien & Angela and sheds new light on events from the first collection. I recommend this trade paperback 100%.

Best Comic i've read in a while,
By Christopher Richards (Needham, MA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
I'm not a huge comic collector, but this stands out as the best series I own. The story is well written and the artwork is amazing, creating a great book about kids running away from the law. Reading it, you will get the feeling that this could be easily turned into a film, or be right out of a regular novel, which makes it great to buy even if you don't normally read comics or graphic novels. I'd highly recommend this to anyone, whether you own a huge collection of action comics and appreciate great graphic novels, or if you've never really liked comics and was looking to just start getting into them. After reading this one several times over, it seems clear that Arthur Dela Cruz will soon become a big name in the comic world.

what an amazing story,
By Aki Murphy (Alliance, OH United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
when i first discovered Kissing Chaos i was completely blown away. The artwork is simply amazing and the story is great. from the first page you have no idea what is going on, but that is a plus. the point is to try and figure out what has happened, which you slowly do until you come to an ending that even I didn't even expect. I am in love with the character Angela who seems to just live in her own little world. And I love how her quiet personality is contradicted by the the loud-mouthed Raevyn. I think this story is amazing and I cannot wait to read what comes after this part and the next part just wrapping up called NonStop Beauty.

The description made this book seem like it was filled with action, but in reality it was more about the inner monologues of a psychotic brat named Angela and some heavy dialogues between Damien and Raevyn.
I'll first start off with why I didn't like this book. First off, Angela very rarely talked. In fact, the most you get out of her is her mental raving monologues about her feelings towards Damien. If I was Damien and knew what she was thinking, I probably would have shot her instead. Most of the dialogue is between Damien and Raevyn, who have more chemistry than Damien and Angela. Half the time, their dialogues seemed so tedious and about absolutely nothing that I couldn't force myself to focus on what was be said. Not only that, but I literally had no idea what was going on. It was so hard to follow the story line. All of that aside, it was pretty enjoyable. I loved Cruz's art style which was more sketchy than clean, clear lines. I actually spent more time examining his technique over the actually reading storyline I thought the characters were believable, psychosis and all. It was actually humorous to read Raevyn and Damien's spats although I often found myself wanting to smack them both. After a few of these little tiffs, I can imagine why Angela would just keep her mouth shut (although her silence was stilling annoying). I thought about continuing the story to actually figure out what happens, but I decided there are more pressing novels on my bookshelves to read first.

Beautiful Chaos,
By A Customer
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
This is one of the most beautiful comics i have ever seen. ADC's use of grey's to create an almost surreal mood is wonderful. The story itself is also surreal, you never know what is really going on, kinda like watching a David Lynch movie. If you like Lynch, I suspect you'll like this too. Can't wait for the rest of the series' to come out, i can't wait to see where the road ends. I find ADC's website useful, [website] for when you want to find out info on the next series' and some samples from the book if you want to take a look. And if you want to get your girlfriend into comics, this is the perfect choice.

Fantastic!,

Kissing Chaos is a fantastic, twisted, hilarious tale of three people who are going through an adventure. I highly recomend this TPB. There are some WONDERFUL drawings in this book. Some very top-notch, unique stuff! The writing/story telling is also great! It keeps you coming back for more and more, and never loses your interest. It reads very much like an episode of a tv series. Don't miss out!

Kissing for dummies...,

This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
The best book on how to kiss I've ever read!! No, just kidding. This graphic novel collects the first miniseries from Oni Press, one of my favorite comic publishers in America. Kissing Chaos follows three teens on the run from the authorities for unknown reasons, trying to escape unknown pursuers and heading for an unknown desination. There is a great feeling of elusive mystery in this book, and as many questions that are answered in the final issues, there are still questions that are un-answered. However, there is enough going on in the foreground, and enough character development and interaction, and the surreal, mysterious quality works very well. Visually, the grey tones adorning Arthur Dela Cruz's hybrid of digital and traditional art add to the experience. This is a very atmospheric work and I must say one of the best comic book experiences of the year. Can't wait to see what else Arthur has up his sleeve! I definitely reccomend this book. Give it a try. I guarentee you will like it. Hey, if you don't like it you can always give it to a friend.

ugly,
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
the pictures are totally ugly, sometimes it is hard to say who is who or what is really going on,
the plot is wannabe Tarantino but dialogue is mostly stupid, characters just talk to be talking... the plot (full of coincidences) goes nowhere.

On the road to adventure,
By Derrick Kennelty-Cohen (Sarasota, FL United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Kissing Chaos Volume 1 (Paperback)
I remember hearing rumors about Kissing Chaos when it was first published. When Oni announced they were releasing a collection of the first series, I suddenly became entrenched in intrigue. I ran out and bought most of the issues, unable to wait for the trade. The story and art were fascinating. A great deal of the events and characters are shrouded in mystery, which adds a huge ammount to the epic nature of the tale. This collection is well-worth a close look. First, it collects the entire first storyarc into one book. Second, it has a bunch of backup stories orginally printed online and at conventions. It also features Dela-Cruz's sketchbook and a how-to on his coloring technique. Finally, the unique size of the graphic novel makes it look just like a paperback novel, so no one knows you're reading comics! I am in eager anticipation of the next collection.

just plain, pure goodness!!! thanks adc!,
By Matt (Michigan) - See all my reviews

okay, so this is the ENTIRE first story of a comic called Kissing Chaos (obviously). it's about these kids who get into some involved escapades, both on the mental and physical scale, such as boosting a car, being chased, getting carjacked, and just surviving the throes of modern day relationships. if you like a good (read: great) drama story, bonnie and clyde, sid and nancy, or any of the like, just blindly get this, you WILL NOT be disappointed, what with the FANTASTIC art and story by arthur, and NO MORE THAN ONE BOOK TO BUY for this story...what else could you want? none of the muss and fuss of trying to find several books to keep up with a story you're interested in. personally, that's a BIG plus. i picked it up the day it came out for that reason, i couldn't find all the individual issues b/c they were in SUCH HIGH DEMAND in my area. that should be your indicator right there. but yes, a worthwhile purchase, and like a director's cut dvd, you get extra stuff that wasn't in the issues, such as sketch pages by adc, additional story (deleted scene, if you will), and it's just not a bad buy, there's no other way i can say it, hence, this is...the end of my review.
