Looks good but not really something useful. The balance is pretty good and I'm sure you can cut or stick something with it, but it is just too pretty to use! The $70 price is about what it is worth and not the historical quality of Kissing Crane when they were making their knives in Europe. Close examination in good light shows ripples in the blade suggesting minimum sanding/grinding of the casting in the finishing of this knife. The blade is well polished and the scales are fitted pretty nicely (about 95% compared to hand made custom jobs). If you want a decorative knife or are into period costume, this is a decent buy. If you want a big "working" knife, spend a little more.

We bought this knife to use in some promotional photos, etc., for the book we are working on: Blood and Whiskey, the sequel to The Cowboy and the Vampire. The knife plays a significant role in dispatching Vampires. It's truly beautiful -- especially the handle -- and some gorgeous steel and well worth the price. The design is a little "kitchen knife-y" -- wish it was a little more wicked -- but it has great heft. The leather sheath is less than optimal. One of the rivets already popped loose from the belt loop. Still, it's lovely and at a great price. We use it more like Excalibur now to help spur the writing process. Whosoever shall draw this knife from the stone shall write the next chapter!
