More About the Author

Like most authors, Lex has been writing ever since she could hold a pencil. A few years ago, when she posted snippets of her work on her personal blog Sunlight Sucks, author Jennifer Leeland encouraged her to submit her writing to publishers. That led to her first contract in October 2008.

Now an award winning, multi-published PAN author, Lex is a member of Romance Writers of America active in the PASIC, Rainbow Romance Writers, and Orange County chapters. Her publishers include: Loose Id, Ellora's Cave, Jupiter Gardens Press (formerly Pink Petal Books), MLR Press, and Liquid Silver Books. She is published in both ebook and print.

Born and raised in Salinas, California, Lex moved to Southern California in 1992. She lives in a rugged canyon in Orange County with Rott, her long haired tattooed significant other. She loves loud music, builds her own computers, and has a propensity for having very weird vivid dreams about Nikki Sixx. Lex works full-time at a cemetery as the network administrator.

I wished it was longer and more in depth, but for what it was I really enjoyed it. What I really really loved though was the writing, such bold and beatiful strokes. The story takes the turning point in the relationship (whatever relationship those two were having for twelve years anyway) and makes the best of it. It was fun and I would SO buy long work from this author. Characters definitely came alive for me.

Kissing Joan Collins (Valentine's Day 2012 from MLR Press)
Chase Courtland is on a mission - to finally reveal his true feelings and seduce his best friend, Logan Moore. Chase has quietly watched Logan move from one failed relationship to another. For twelve years, Chase has loved as well as been Logan's shoulder to cry on. Being away in Vegas for a year has been pure misery for Chase. A day before Chase is to move back to San Diego, he discovers that Logan confessed to loving Chase but was afraid to inform Chase for fear of rejection. Armed with this joyous news, Chase is more determined than ever to claim Logan's heart.

Kissing Joan Collins is a well-written beautiful friends-to-lovers romance. The engaging characters are realistically mature, endowed with common sense. Logan is searching for a acceptable long term relationship. Secretly loving Chase, who has never expressed any feelings beyond friendship towards him, Logan attempts to find happiness with someone else. Chase never had a long-term relationship with any man because the only man he wanted that way was Logan. Chase and Logan are dealing with a double-edged sword. If either man tries for a relationship and fails, he is left broken-hearted, along with the loss of his best friend. Fortunately, both men are emotionally on the same page allowing happiness to overrule their insecurities.

Lex Valentine has created a spectacular saga blended with exquisite love scenes that lovingly melts your heart as well as other parts of the anatomy.

I listened to this in the audio version. Chip Wood, the narrator, did a brilliant job bringing the story to life. At just under 2 hours, it was relatively short in audio book terms (at least compared to some I've read) so would be a good intro book for someone who isn't sure if audiobook format is for them.

This is a friends-to-lovers Valentine's themed story and follows Logan and Chase as they finally come together after years of being in love with one another.

The story was sweet, over-the-top emotions - but sometimes you just need lots of warm and fuzzy declarations of love!
