by Adrienne Petterson © 2007 Kissing in the Kitchen - Cooking with Passion by Kevin T. Roberts Northland Publishing ISBN 0-87358-931-9 Published September 2007 - Softcover - 168 pages - $16.95 Now, I know the kitchen has more than one use, and with author/chef Kevin T. Roberts' words, "...there's nothing sexier than a man who can cook," you're in for a treat whether you're planning a first date or a romantic evening with your spouse, and whether or not it's a man doing the cooking. Planning a meal (the thought does count) and being thoughtful is helpful when trying to impress your date. We're also given romantic hints throughout the book, like Romantic Songs and Date Movies if you're really not that clued up. Contents cover Breakfast in Bed; Nibbles; Hot Days, Cool Salads & Chilly Nights, Hot Soups; Birds of a Feather; Hog Heaven; Meathead; Something's Fishy; Veggin' Out; Passionate Pastas; Sexy Sauces; Guilty Pleasures, and Picnics, Parties, Movies, and Toasts. These are some of his recipes to get your next date off to a good start: Avocado Spread; French Onion Soup (with Mozzarella, not Gruyère); Mushrooms and White Wine Chicken; Mindless Meatloaf; Green Beans and Mushrooms in Garlic Sauce, and Shrimp and Garlic Linguine with White Wine Sauce. Pick a main course and a side dish and a dessert from this book; or a salad or soup and a main course and side dish - they work well together. Kevin also gives us the Top 5 Guy Drinks and the Top 5 Gal Drinks to help you in the cocktail department, as well as 411 Tips for recipes and some aphrodisiac foods in case you need some help. Could this just be the "love chef?" Partially illustrated. No nutritional guides. Conclusion - This book could appeal to guys, but would work well in any kitchen.

"Kissing in the Kitchen: Cooking with Passion" is such a great cookbook! There are so many great recipes that are easy to follow, delicious, and a joy to read. It was originally a gift to me and I loved it so much that I have purchased it for 6 brides in the last 3 years! It makes it fun for the new bride and groom to take a recipe and definitely "cook with passion" together! It makes a great bridal shower or wedding gift paired up with maybe a skillet or grouped with a bunch of cooking items for the kitchen.

Yummy food that touches a loved one's heart!,

Men, the way to a woman's heart is through the kitchen! In this creative and passionate cookbook, chef and foodie Kevin Roberts cooks up some basic training on becoming a Cassanova in the kitchen. With tantalizing chapters like Passionate Pastas, Sexy Sauces and Guilty Pleasures, Roberts shows how to make a dinner date at home sizzle.
With clear instructions and color photographs, this cookbook supports even the most novice chefs. Each recipe is complete with personal tips regarding preparations, food pairings and what to expect from the final product. Most recipes are tailored for two so they are just right for impressing that special someone. Throughout the book, Roberts intersperses "4-1-1 Tips" - how to customize the recipe to your needs, what to look for at the grocery store or how to really kick the meal up a notch. The recipes feature fresh and readily available ingredients, yet incorporate an innovative twist to make the dishes distinct and memorable. Roberts includes classics like pot roast and meatloaf as well as more contemporary fare like the salmon pita with olive tapenade and wild field greens. A plethora of both meaty and vegetarian dishes ensures that there is a meal to impress any date. The photos are gorgeous and offer plating and garnishing suggestions, though images of more dishes would have been beneficial. Nutritional information is not provided, but perhaps is not all that necessary given the focus on creating seductive meals to win over a date rather than health! Armchair Interviews says: Overall, this cookbook is a fabulous way to learn to please your partner in the kitchen. |
