3.0 out of 5 stars Predictable but decent read...
This was good novel if you're in for pure passion and romance. I personally prefer more drama to go along with the romance, but this was still a sweet story.

McKenzie Reese is co-owner of a salon with her best friend, she sings jazz at a club every other Saturday, and her new neighbor is everything she could ask for in a man. Ian Kelly is the DJ of a jazz radio station, he is forty and has never been married, and his new neighbor is making him feel and want things that he never had before. There is just one little problem...McKenzie has a fifteen-year-old son that has recently decided to move to California to live with his father and stepmother. Ian has never really thought about having kids, and he is enjoying the time he is spending with McKenzie. When McKenzie's son calls and says he wants to come home, everything could change.

Kissing The Man Next Door is an excellent read by Devon Vaughn Archer. The relationship between the main characters is very realistic and relatable. The characters are also very well developed which helps to make the overall story more enjoyable. Vaughn Archer also has a laid back writing style that flows and makes for an easy read.

The is something said about loved thy neighbor and for Mackenzie Reese and Ian Kelley that is what happen.

Mackenzie is a 37 yrs old woman who is experience freedom for the fist time in a long time. Divorcee who lives in Cheri Village, Vermont where she is part owner of a salon and on the side she is a Jazz singer who performs on the weekend. Mackenzie has a 15 yrs old son who decided he wanted to go and live with his father in CA. In the beginning Mackenzie was feeling lonely and thought that she was a bad mother when she decided he wanted to live with his father.

Ian Kelly is the DJ and have just move in next door to Mackenzie. Ian is 40 yrs old who is not in a hurry to be a married or a father. Mackenzie doing the neighboring thing by going over to introduce herself and welcome Ian to the neighbor suddenly starts having these thoughts about Ian. If he is married, have children the norm, but boy oh boy when she meet him for the first time lawd have mercy.

Ian is over 6'feet, bald and FINE...............Ian is just as attracted to his neighbor and over the course of the week they begin to get to know each other by playing basketball.

Mackenzie has some doubt about Ian because she has been burn not once but twice so she is a little caution. When Mackenzie & Ian starting spending time together Ian finds out that Mackenzie has a son and he is living with his father in CA so in Ian mind all is okay. Then begin to get know each other Mackenzie like being able to come and go as she please and really enjoy life. With Ian Mackenzie is doing thing she haven't done before and their love life is off the chain they can't get enough of each other. All is going well until Ryan (the son) decided he wants to come home because he is not getting along with step mom.

Now the question is how do Ian feel about that because once Ryan come home and a decision is made whether or not he will be able to stay Ian has some decision do make. Do he want to keep seeing Mackenzie can they work through this.......well you will have to read the book and let me tell you this is my favorite so far.

I know you will enjoy the trail & tribulation Ian & Mackenzie.

4.0 out of 5 stars interesting contemporary romance, May 7, 2009
This review is from: Kissing The Man Next Door (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
In Cheri Village, Vermont, Mackenzie Reese actually feels pretty good about the empty nest when her fifteen years old son Ryan moves to Los Angeles to live with his father Brent and stepmother. She looks forward to enjoying life with no relationship entanglements especially fostering her career as a jazz singer while feeling Brent will be good for Ryan who needs a male role model.

Leaving Westport, Connecticut, Ian Kelly accompanied by Otis the Labrador move next door to Mackenzie. The DJ at KRDQ, the jazz all the time radio station, Ian is attracted to Mackenzie and likes the idea her son moved out as he never dates any female with children. As their lives are jazzed up by their attraction, Ryan returns home with am angry chip on his shoulder; he hassles his stressed out mother. His ugliness forces Mackenzie to choose between her love for Ian who reconsiders his wisdom of no child left behind with him and her son who she still cherishes but has been difficult since returning to New England.

The "triangle makes for an interesting contemporary romance as the teen nukes the relationship between his mother and his enemy next door. Ryan makes the tale as he comes home filled with anger and resentment as he takes his ire out on his mom and indirectly her lover. His actions force the lead couple to decide whether love is enough. Although Ian is never fully developed, fans will enjoy Mackenzie's heart breaking dilemma between KISSING THE MAN NEXT DOOR and dumping the man next door.

4.0 out of 5 stars Like A Good Neighbor, May 3, 2009
This review is from: Kissing The Man Next Door (Kimani Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
With her teenage son now living with her ex-husband in California, MacKenzie Reese has more time for herself and to explore other things, like possibly a relationship with her handsome new neighbor. Just when things seem to be going so well, her son pops back up in the picture. Will this sudden change of circumstances mean the end for her budding relationship and newfound freedom?

I enjoyed this read. It was quick and the story has a smooth flow. "Kissing the Man Next Door" was a cute, charming yet predictable read. Recommend to any lover of romance.
